Chapter 256: Chapter 251: Who is Unwilling After All
"It was you who bought that bracelet yourself, and then you asked me to find a master to increase its dark energy, don’t deny it."
Zhang Feng said in a hurry.
She was terrified, truly terrified of death.
So, regardless of whether that person was her son or not, she immediately shifted the blame.
Lin Nan was also afraid of death, afraid that Long Chen would deal with him.
Because for someone as powerful as Long Chen, money alone could crush them to death.
Hence, Lin Nan also refused to admit it, frantically pushing the primary responsibility onto Zhang Feng.
These mother and son, tearing at each other’s faces.
Long Chen, witnessing this scene, sighed to himself.
They were a family, yet at such a critical moment, they had fallen so low—truly despicable.
"Get lost, all of you. If you dare come within a hundred meters of Han Yun’s house or the auction house, I’ll crush you in minutes."
Long Chen had no interest in talking nonsense with these two, let alone being disgusted by them.
Zhang Feng and Lin Nan scrambled to their feet, running away in utter disarray.
Han Yun, seeing all this, finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"Mr. Long, you’re truly remarkable. You and your wife make such a perfect couple. You’ll surely be happy together for a very long time."
The nanny said with a beaming smile.
Hearing this, Han Yun blushed and said, "Auntie, actually..."
"Thank you for your blessings, Auntie. Xinxin and I will definitely be very happy."
Long Chen interrupted Han Yun.
Han Yun was stunned and didn’t understand why Long Chen wouldn’t let her clarify.
Could it be that he has really taken a liking to me?
At that thought, Han Yun’s heart suddenly began to race.
"Sir, ma’am, I won’t disturb you any longer. I’ll go clean up the upstairs room."
The nanny said.
"No need," Long Chen said. "You go home first, take a day off. I want some alone time with Xinxin."
"Oh, I see, heh, I understand. I’ll head home then and come back tomorrow night."
The nanny said with a laugh.
After the nanny left, Han Yun glared at Long Chen: "Great, now even if I try to explain to her, she will never believe it."
"We can’t keep this person," Long Chen whispered. "She has been bought over by Lin Nan and Zhang Feng. Probably every move you’ve made at home has been reported to them."
"What?" Han Yun’s complexion changed. "How do you know?"
"This..."
Long Chen hesitated.
He couldn’t possibly tell Han Yun about his Heart Observation Technique.
After a quick thought, Long Chen said, "Earlier, she was secretly making signals to Zhang Feng. There’s definitely something fishy going on. If you don’t believe me, call Zhang Feng right now to test the waters. Everything will become clear. We cannot wrongly accuse someone. Make the call."
"Alright, I’ll call right now."
Han Yun immediately phoned Zhang Feng.
As Zhang Feng picked up the phone, thinking Han Yun was not going to let the matter go, she quickly said, "Han Yun, Lin Nan and I dare not trouble you anymore. Please spare us, we swear, if we ever..."
"It’s not about that. I wanted to ask you about my nanny. What’s with her?"
Han Yun purposefully didn’t make the question too clear.
Zhang Feng immediately said, "That... I paid her to spy for me."
"Alright, that’s all."
Han Yun hung up the phone, trembling slightly in anger: "I treated her so well, even paid her more than double the normal wage. But still, she betrayed me."
"The world hustles and bustles, all for profit; it’s not unusual. But this person, we can’t keep her," Long Chen said softly.
"I’ll tell her not to come back tomorrow. Long Chen, I’m grateful to have you. Otherwise, with such people around, who knows what terrible things might happen."
Han Yun said sincerely.
She was deeply moved and relieved.
Long Chen had resolved the troubling matters she had tried to deal with but had failed to solve.
"We’re friends, after all. It was just a helping hand, no need to make much of it," Long Chen said with a smile.
"But, you’ve made me feel a little moved," Han Yun said quite naturally.
"Perhaps you really do need a man who can take care of you, but it shouldn’t be me. I might not have much time to care for you," Long Chen said.
"I don’t always need care. Mostly, I would just feel secure and free of worries with a man like you," Han Yun said.
"Haha, we’re getting off-topic."
Long Chen touched his nose, slightly embarrassed.
After all, he had only met Han Yun twice.
Han Yun realized she was being a bit presumptuous and, after a moment’s thought, said, "Could you please take care of Xinxin for me? I want to take a shower."
"Of course, you go ahead."
Long Chen took the little girl from Han Yun’s arms.
"Thanks a lot."
Han Yun waved her hand and walked towards the bathroom.
"Aren’t you afraid I’ll run off with your daughter?"
"I trust you, I don’t know why, but I inexplicably trust you."
Han Yun entered the bathroom.
Long Chen, holding the little girl, entered a bedroom.
In Long Chen’s arms, she soon woke up.
When she opened her eyes and saw Long Chen, a hint of surprise flashed in the little girl’s clear eyes.
Then, she quickly looked around and, upon realizing she was in her own room, she relaxed immediately, "Big brother, you’re really handsome."
Long Chen, hearing her childish voice, couldn’t help but laugh out loud, "Haha, you can’t call me big brother, you have to call me uncle."
"Okay, uncle, are you Mommy’s friend?"
the little girl asked softly.
"Mm, Xinxin, do you feel uncomfortable anywhere right now?" Long Chen asked softly.
"Nope, I’m not sick at all, I’m super healthy."
"Is that so? Then let me quiz you, let’s play a few small games to see if you’re bluffing."
"Hmph, bring it on."
...
When Han Yun finished her bath and came out, the first thing she heard was her daughter’s bell-like laughter from the bedroom.
It had been a long time since she had seen her daughter so happy.
Curiosity led Han Yun to tiptoe up to the door, and peeking inside, she saw Long Chen was actually telling Xinxin little jokes, his exaggerated gestures making the little girl giggle nonstop, rolling around the bed.
"That’s enough, get up now. Look at you, your little butt is showing. Aren’t you embarrassed?"
Long Chen laughed.
"Daddy, help me find some pants, my clothes are on the left side of the wardrobe," said the little girl.
"What did you call me?"
Long Chen was taken aback.
"Daddy, Xinxin thinks you could be my dad; no one else is good enough for Mommy."
The little girl said seriously.
At the door, an eavesdropping Han Min covered her mouth, utterly shocked.
She hadn’t expected Xinxin to say something so astonishing.
But Han Min did not intervene, she wanted to see Long Chen’s reaction.
Inside the bedroom, Long Chen looked at Xinxin and forced a laugh, "Little kids shouldn’t talk nonsense, you know. Your mother and I are friends."
"I don’t care, I want you to be my dad."
The little girl climbed into Long Chen’s embrace, pestering him.
Long Chen, with a wry smile said, "Your mom has to agree to that, what’s the point of you saying that? She has said that I can’t be your dad, so don’t bring it up again, okay? Otherwise, your mom will be upset."
"Is that so?"
She tilted her head, looking puzzled.
"It’s true."
Long Chen stood up to find the little girl some pants.
"What were you two talking about?"
Han Yun walked into the room just in time.
"We weren’t... talking about anything," Long Chen said.
"Mommy, Daddy said you won’t let him be my dad; is that true?"
Xinxin immediately asked Han Yun, her cute face of dissatisfaction.
Han Yun cleared her throat and then said, "Mommy never said she wouldn’t like it; it’s him who doesn’t want to."
"Really?" Xinxin was confused, "So who doesn’t want to?"
Long Chen looked at Han Yun, who was also looking back at him.
The two locked eyes, at a loss for words.
"Come on, will you talk? Who doesn’t want to? Wah, Mommy, I don’t care, I just want this daddy."
Xinxin began to cry, tears streaming down.
Long Chen felt heartbroken seeing this.
He held the little girl and said softly, "Alright, alright, I’ll be your dad."
Han Yun’s heart fluttered, she stared at Long Chen in disbelief.
But Xinxin was crying even louder.
"Xinxin, I’ve agreed, so stop crying," Long Chen said with an awkward smile.
"You’re lying, I know, you’re just trying to trick me because I’m a kid, wah..."
The little girl cried louder.
Long Chen was amused, "Quite smart, aren’t you? But Xinxin, I’m not lying to you, I really will be your dad."
"I don’t believe you, unless... unless tonight, you and Mommy both tuck me into bed together."
