Chapter 173: Chapter 171: When One Is Utterly Worthless, They Become Invincible
Li Yuexin left Li Yuechan at a loss for words. With a bitter smile, she said, "Then just this once, and you must make sure your brother-in-law never sees it again. Understood?"
"Got it, there won’t be another chance anyway."
Li Yuexin stuck out her tongue playfully.
"Hmph, as long as you know. Don’t go back tonight; just stay at the hotel for one night."
"Okay then, where will brother-in-law sleep?"
"I’ll sleep in the middle; you and he can sleep on either side."
"Sister, did you forget? There’s another girl, what’s her name, Zhuge Xuan."
"You don’t need to worry about her. That girl is so mysterious, often disappearing without a trace and then suddenly popping up. I’m used to it."
...
The night passed, and early the next day, Li Yuechan took Li Yuexin to her company.
The sisters had already agreed that Li Yuexin would go to Chenyue Film and Television to learn and work there.
Long Chen, who had dropped the two ladies at the company, initially intended to leave but was stopped by Li Yuechan.
"You rarely visit, and this is your company too. Don’t you want to take a closer look?"
Li Yuechan glared at Long Chen.
"Cough, then I’ll take a quick look."
Long Chen gave an awkward laugh. He had only been to the company once or twice since its establishment.
He had left almost everything to Li Yuechan. Thinking about it, it did seem a bit too much.
"Let’s go."
Li Yuechan linked her arm with Long Chen’s, not bothering to hide it.
As they walked into the company, many employees were not at all startled.
"Is that President Yue’s husband? He’s so handsome."
"Handsome and charismatic, President Yue really has good taste."
A few female employees whispered among themselves.
"President Yue, there’s something... I think it might be a bit troublesome."
At that moment, a girl with a ponytail hurried over to Li Yuechan. She was Li Yuechan’s assistant, named Zhao Ling.
"What is it?" Li Yuechan asked.
"It’s... um..."
Zhao Ling hesitated and glanced at Long Chen.
"He’s my husband; just speak plainly," Li Yuechan said.
Zhao Ling paused briefly, then quickly said, "It’s like this, President Yue. Your mother came to the company early this morning. She’s asking the company to transfer eighty million to her, and she’s currently in your office."
Li Yuechan felt a bit off upon hearing this. Both Li Yuexin and Long Chen frowned as well, not expecting that after such a big argument yesterday, Han Min would still manage to come to the company today.
Such thick-skinned behavior was truly unbeatable.
"You go take care of your tasks. Get the meeting materials ready and bring them to me," Li Yuechan instructed Zhao Ling.
"Okay."
Zhao Ling turned and went to attend to her duties.
"Let’s go to the office," said Li Yuechan.
A few moments later, the three of them entered the office together.
At that moment, Han Min was sitting in Li Yuechan’s office chair, legs crossed in a comfortable manner as if she was quite at ease.
Seeing Li Yuechan and the others come in, Han Min had no intention of standing up. She said with a smiling face, "Yuechan, your company looks really good, very luxurious, and high-end."
"Mom, I already know why you’re here," Li Yuechan said through clenched teeth, not wanting to beat around the bush, but rather to get straight to the point.
Upon hearing this, Han Min chuckled and said, "So when will you transfer the money to me? We’re in urgent need of it."
"Sorry, there isn’t any," Li Yuechan stated firmly. "The money to start my company was all given by Long Chen. The company needs a huge amount of capital every day for operations, promotions, investments, and more. Eighty million is not a small amount; I can’t come up with it."
"Li Yuechan, think before you speak. It’s not easy for me to ask you for money. Don’t be ungrateful," Han Min said through gritted teeth.
"There simply isn’t any," Li Yuechan continued, "Mom, the company is in great need of money right now. I hope you can understand. Once the company is on the right track, I won’t forget you in the future."
"Stop feeding me that line," Han Min raised her voice. "Now, when I can’t even count on you, how can I expect you to remember me later? Isn’t that a joke? Ah, it’s true, I can’t rely on you. You begrudge even lending me some money when I’m just borrowing, not asking for it to keep."
"Mom, can you stop being unreasonable?" Li Yuexin couldn’t help but interject, "Sister’s company is also in dire need of funds. You’re asking her to lend you eighty million in one go, which means the company might stop operating and face huge problems. Do you understand?"
"I don’t understand; I only know that she must lend it to me today," Han Min threatened. "Li Yuexin, Li Yuechan, I’m your biological mother. You can ignore your dad if you want, but I can’t be ignored. Listen to me, if you don’t give me the money, I won’t leave."
"Suit yourself, but there isn’t any," Li Yuechan said, her face turning pale with anger.
"Fine, just wait," Han Min stood up and walked out.
Li Yuechan thought her mother was leaving, so she didn’t take it seriously and felt quite relieved instead.
"Saddled with such a mother, it’s really tiring," Long Chen sighed.
"Isn’t it just," Li Yuechan replied bitterly, "She knows full well my difficulties, yet she still pressures me. I really can’t understand."
"Anyway, make your own decision. Whether or not you lend her the eighty million, it’s up to you," Long Chen said softly.
"Definitely not," Li Yuechan stated. "The company is currently throwing money out every day like water; I’m getting quite panicked."
"Eighty million is not a trivial amount. The way she talks about it makes it sound as trivial as eighty dollars or eight dollars, sister, don’t mind her, you must not lend it to her," Li Yuexin urged.
"It’s bad, General Manager Yue, come quick."
"General Manager Yue, come out."
Suddenly, there was a commotion outside.
Li Yuechan and the others walked out of the office and looked up, shocked at what they saw.
They saw Han Min had climbed up to the window and was straddling it, looking like she was about to jump down.
"Li Yuechan, if you don’t give me the money today, I’ll jump from here, and you’ll bear the stigma and live with the guilt for the rest of your life," Han Min yelled.
"Mom, how could you do this? Please come down; it’s dangerous," Li Yuechan urged desperately.
This was the seventh floor; a fall would surely be fatal.
"Auntie, please, let’s talk this over, don’t do this, it’s too dangerous."
"Yes, please come down, come and talk to General Manager Yue properly."
Everyone from the company was trying to persuade her.
However, Han Min pretended to jump, scaring everyone into a state of shock.
Through gritted teeth, she shouted, "I’m just trying to borrow eighty million; it’s not like such a big company can’t spare it. I don’t believe it. Hurry up and give me the money."
Li Yuechan stared at Han Min, her eyes welling up with tears.
Was money really that important?
Sniffling to hold back her tears, Li Yuechan said with a heavy voice, "First, come down, then we can talk it over properly."
"Who wants to talk it over with you? I’ll give you ten minutes. If I don’t see the money, I’ll jump right away," Han Min said coldly, using her own life to pressure her.
Unable to watch any longer, Long Chen couldn’t help but reprimand, "Has it come to the point where nothing is beneath you? Heh, you really don’t deserve to be a mother. If you want to die, just jump. Who’s stopping you?"
"Long Chen..." Li Yuechan quickly signaled for Long Chen to stop talking because she was afraid that Han Min might accidentally fall.
