The Rise of Dragon Son-in-Law
Chapter 147 - 145: Deep Fate

Chapter 147: Chapter 145: Deep Fate

Long Chen put away his phone, oblivious to the fact that Wu Nuan’s friend was none other than Cheng Cheng, whom he had just upset earlier.

If he had known, Long Chen would definitely not have agreed to meet, just to avoid the embarrassment.

As it was, Long Chen, unaware of the truth, felt a bit guilty for ignoring Wu Nuan for so long.

Thus, Long Chen quickly got ready, ate something, and then set off for the destination.

Half an hour later, Long Chen arrived at the predetermined location.

It was a KTV. As he entered, a tall, beautiful woman in a black business dress approached him, "Sir, do you have a reservation?"

"A friend is already here. I’m here to find her," Long Chen said.

"Sir, may I know in which private room your friend is? I can take you there," said the tall, beautiful woman softly.

"No need, I can find it myself, thank you."

Long Chen walked away.

The tall, beautiful woman watched Long Chen’s retreating figure, reluctantly shifting her gaze.

"Xia Ya, what’s wrong with you?"

"Well, it’s such a pity. A guy of that level, handsome and charismatic, seems so hard to approach."

The tall, beautiful woman sighed.

...

Meanwhile, Long Chen arrived at Wu Nuan’s private room and knocked gently.

"Come in."

Wu Nuan’s voice came from inside.

Long Chen pushed the door open and saw Wu Nuan holding a microphone singing.

Wu Nuan put down the microphone and stood up, smiling, "You’re finally here. We’ve already downed two bottles."

"Where’s your friend? I don’t see her," Long Chen asked with a smile.

"She’s in the restroom," Wu Nuan pointed.

"Alright." Long Chen sat down.

Wu Nuan opened a bottle of beer and handed it to Long Chen, "Here, you’re late. Take a penalty drink."

"Don’t be silly," Long Chen smiled. "You didn’t say when to arrive."

"You’ve been neglecting me for so long, a penalty drink isn’t too much, right?"

Wu Nuan glared at Long Chen.

"Okay, okay, I’ll take a penalty drink."

Long Chen took the beer and downed it in one go.

"Cheng Cheng, aren’t you done yet?"

Wu Nuan yelled toward the restroom.

"Coming, coming."

Cheng Cheng responded to Wu Nuan.

Then, the restroom door opened, and Cheng Cheng walked out slowly.

Long Chen, instinctively, turned his head. Seeing Cheng Cheng unexpectedly, his expression froze.

Cheng Cheng, on seeing Long Chen, also froze in place.

"Cheng Cheng, this is Long Chen, the one I told you about who will help me get a job at Dragon Doctor.

Long Chen, this is my best friend; she is Cheng Cheng, a hero who has helped in disaster areas, very brave."

Wu Nuan introduced them.

Cheng Cheng took a deep breath, then quickly regained her composure and said softly, "Mr. Long, hello."

Long Chen sighed inwardly, are we pretending not to know each other?

If so, that’s fine.

With that thought, Long Chen smiled and said, "Miss Cheng, hello."

Hearing this, Cheng Cheng felt an upsurge of frustration, quickly sat down next to Long Chen, grabbed a can of beer, and downed it.

"You... you should drink slowly."

The unsuspecting Wu Nuan, whispered a reminder.

"I’m fine, I haven’t drunk in a long time, and I missed it," Cheng Cheng said.

"You, it’s just a breakup, what’s the big deal? In this world, there are plenty of three-legged toads around, missing one toad is nothing, right?"

Wu Nuan comforted.

Upon hearing this, Long Chen’s face stiffened.

Toad?

"Am I a toad?"

Long Chen glanced at Wu Nuan, his expression unfriendly.

Cheng Cheng noticed Long Chen’s look and immediately echoed Wu Nuan’s words, "Yeah, it’s just a super toad, it’s not important."

"Mm-hm, you’re right, let’s keep singing."

Wu Nuan smiled.

"Mr. Long just got here, right? Why not have Mr. Long sing one?" Cheng Cheng said.

"I’m not very good at singing," Long Chen said.

"It’s okay, however it turns out, it doesn’t matter," Cheng Cheng said.

"Singing is not out of the question," Long Chen picked up the microphone.

"Do you know how to sing ’Ambiguity’ by Yang CL?" Cheng Cheng asked.

"Hum a few lines, let me listen."

"Okay." Cheng Cheng hummed a few lines.

"I’ve heard it, I should be able to sing it, but, this song is mostly sung by females, wouldn’t it be a bit odd for me to sing it?"

Long Chen hesitated.

"What does that matter, sing it.",

Cheng Cheng crossed her arms and leaned back on the couch, watching Long Chen.

Wu Nuan quickly selected the song.

The music started, and Long Chen stood up and slowly began to sing:

"Ambiguity makes one suffer immensely, finding no evidence of love."

He had only sung two lines when Long Chen realized the implication behind Cheng Cheng’s choice of song.

But Long Chen didn’t care and continued to perform.

His voice was magnetic, handling the melodies and emotions with ease, as steady as Mount Tai.

The level of his performance stunned both women, disbelieving.

As he sang to the climax of the song, Cheng Cheng’s tears, unable to be held back any longer, began to overflow.

"Stop... don’t sing anymore, you mustn’t sing,"

Cheng Cheng stood up.

"Cheng Cheng, what are you doing?"

Wu Nuan was puzzled.

She felt Cheng Cheng behaved oddly ever since she met Long Chen.

"Nuannuan, he’s the jerk who made me experience a heartbreak,"

Cheng Cheng clenched her teeth.

"What?"

Wu Nuan was shocked, unable to comprehend.

Cheng Cheng fixed her gaze on Long Chen, whispered, "I had made up my mind to treat our meeting, everything I experienced with you, as a dream, but I really didn’t expect to turn around and meet you again. Tell me, isn’t this some kind of divine joke?"

"It is somewhat coincidental, I also didn’t expect that Wu Nuan’s close friend would turn out to be you," Long Chen said.

"Since we’re so fated, why not dump your girlfriend and take me instead?"

"Not good," Long Chen shook his head.

"I knew it, you don’t really like me, it was just my wishful thinking," Cheng Cheng dejectedly sat down, "Actually, I don’t blame you, nor do I hate you. The only thing to blame is that we met too late, fated yet not destined."

"Isn’t it also nice to be friends?" Long Chen smiled, "Some things, let them be natural, they can’t be forced."

"Can I really be friends with you? Ha, I’m not sure if I can do that."

Cheng Cheng spoke bitterly.

"You can do it," Long Chen said.

"Wait, wait a second," Wu Nuan raised her hand and asked seriously, "So you mean to say, Cheng Cheng, the person who went through so much with you in the disaster area, was him?"

"Yes, it was him."

Cheng Cheng nodded.

"Then your connection is truly unbeatable, Cheng Cheng, why don’t we both join Dragon Doctor together? That way, you can also get past your heartbreak," Wu Nuan whispered.

"Why?" Cheng Cheng didn’t understand, "Shouldn’t I keep my distance from him?"

"For money, silly, earning money and drinking are the best tools to cast away troubles,"

Wu Nuan spoke sweetly.

"Really?" Cheng Cheng looked at Long Chen, "Then what do you think, do I qualify to join Dragon Doctor? If I want to join Dragon Doctor, can you, a senior executive there, make that decision?"

"Our connection isn’t trivial, Dragon Doctor welcomes you to join anytime,"

Long Chen nodded with a smile in agreement.
