Chapter 145 - 143: Unlocking New Abilities

Chapter 145: Chapter 143: Unlocking New Abilities

At that moment, Zhuge Xuan found it difficult to comprehend the occurrence unfolding upon Long Chen.

She even caught glimpses of mysterious symbols intermittently pulsating over Long Chen’s body.

Eventually, these mysterious symbols submerged into Long Chen’s pupils.

Zhuge Xuan stared at Long Chen, unsure of what to do.

Just then, Long Chen suddenly opened his eyes.

"Brother Chen, how did you wake up?"

Zhuge Xuan hurried forward, both excited and disappointed.

Excited that Long Chen had awakened, but disappointed because, with him awake, she missed the opportunity to help him wash up.

Long Chen sat up and clearly felt that his mental state had greatly improved.

The symptom of weakness that might put him to sleep at any moment had vanished.

This filled Long Chen with joy, and as he turned to speak to Zhuge Xuan, he suddenly startled.

For Zhuge Xuan appeared naked before his eyes.

This ability, Long Chen had possessed before.

But now, this x-ray vision was significantly clearer than before, as if the phone screen had upgraded to a 2k display.

"Developed quite well."

muttered Long Chen.

"What did you say, Brother Chen?"

Zhuge Xuan asked, puzzled.

"Uh, nothing... nothing."

Long Chen hurriedly closed his eyes.

Yet he immediately found that even with his eyes closed, he could still see through objects.

He slightly turned his head, and his gaze swiftly passed through the walls, directly viewing the scenery outside.

This level of x-ray vision shocked Long Chen.

Soon after, he became ecstatic.

Clearly, his strength had been greatly enhanced.

"Perhaps it’s the Dragon Bloodline within me, stimulated and elevated after this crisis, causing my pupils to transform as well."

Long Chen pondered.

However, although he no longer felt as weak, he had not returned to his peak condition; aside from the enhanced x-ray vision, other improvements were not very noticeable.

"Brother Chen, why are you keeping your eyes closed and not speaking? Are you feeling uncomfortable somewhere?"

Zhuge Xuan asked softly.

"It’s nothing." Long Chen took a deep breath, calmed himself, then opened his eyes and asked with a smile, "What were you going to do with that basin of water?"

"Well, I was planning to help you wash up, but then you suddenly woke up."

Zhuge Xuan pouted.

"You seem a bit upset?"

asked Long Chen.

"Of course, I wanted to..."

"Wanted what?"

"Wanted to see your body, to yearn for your body." Zhuge Xuan made a funny face.

"You little imp, can’t you think of something more positive? Anyway, go find Xia Ling, and continue protecting her. I’m fine now." Long Chen said.

"I don’t want to, I want to take care of you until you recover."

Zhuge Xuan insisted.

"Not listening?"

Long Chen frowned.

"Brother Chen..."

Zhuge Xuan cooed.

"Protecting Xia Ling is your duty; you can come back after you teach her how to protect herself."

Long Chen said.

"You should have said that earlier, hmph, I’ll go protect her and teach her."

With a cute huff, Zhuge Xuan finally left.

Long Chen got up and straightened his collar, then walked outside.

He hadn’t stepped out for several days because he had been exceedingly sleepy, quickly falling asleep every time he woke up.

But now, the overwhelming need to sleep was gone.

Long Chen sat in the living room for a while, drank something, and when he was thinking of going for a walk outside in the pleasant sunshine, an aged figure unexpectedly appeared at the door.

"Mr. Long, where are you heading?"

The visitor smiled warmly.

"Zhuge Senior, how did you come here?"

Long Chen exclaimed, astonished.

The visitor was none other than Zhuge the Immortal from Dao Ming Mountain.

As always, he was transcendent, seemingly like an immortal stepping into the world of mortals.

"Master Zhuge had not seen Xuan’er for a long time and came to visit her. He just saw her, and she has improved significantly, now appearing much more well-behaved."

Zhuge, the old master, smiled.

"I haven’t even had the chance to teach her anything," Long Chen admitted, feeling somewhat embarrassed.

"No matter," Zhuge, the old master, smiled. "By following Mister Long, she is already on the path to enlightenment."

"You old thing, always speaking so cryptically and trying to mystify everything."

Long Chen chuckled.

"Haha, it’s not really an attempt to mystify, but speaking of which, Mister Long, your severe injury has paradoxically advanced your realm considerably, which is truly miraculous. You must be very close to the Heavenly Human Realm now."

Zhuge, the old master, said laughingly.

"Heavenly Human Realm?" Long Chen smiled. "I heard from my master in Dragon Palace that the realms progress from low to high as Yellow Extreme, Mysterious Extreme, Earth Extreme, Heavenly Extreme, but I have never heard of this Heavenly Human Realm."

"The Heavenly Human Realm is precisely the Heavenly Extreme Realm. In this realm, one’s Divine Sense can expand outward to perceive everything within hundreds of meters. Given that your Divine Sense is now full, I believe you are not far from reaching the Heavenly Human Realm."

Zhuge, the old master, held his whisk, his smile unwavering.

"So, that would be the peak of Earth Extreme?"

"Yes."

"In this bustling city, that should suffice." Long Chen wasn’t overly eager in pursuing higher realms.

His thought had always been on natural progression, following the natural path.

Zhuge, the old master, did not refute Long Chen’s perspective but further mentioned with a smile, "With your current realm, you are capable of performing a fascinating little Divine Skill, which, if mastered, could be uniquely effective in the city and quite entertaining."

"What Divine Skill?" Long Chen asked curiously.

"The technique of hearing hearts’ voices, named the ’Heart Observation Technique.’ By silently reciting the mantra, you can listen to thoughts. If you master it, you can manipulate any situation in the city to your benefit."

"Is there a condition for you teaching me this technique?" Long Chen asked, staring suspiciously at Zhuge, the old master.

This old master was no simple man, and Long Chen was not someone to take things lightly.

Zhuge, the old master, waved his hand and replied, "There are no conditions, however, powerful as this Magic Technique is, it has one major flaw."

"What’s the flaw?" Long Chen asked.

Zhuge, focused on Long Chen and smiled, "The flaw is, if you have any emotional attachment to the target—be it friendship, familial love, or romantic love—then the technique will not work."

"Why is that?" Long Chen was astounded.

"There’s no technique that is perfect without flaws in this world, just as there is no perfect person. Anything that becomes perfect, in fact, loses its beauty."

"I’m asking why it is so."

"The old master has already explained the reason."

"But what’s the difference between what you said and not having said anything?" Long Chen was frustrated.

"To use this technique, you must keep your mind and spirit clear and absolutely tranquil. If you have no feelings whatsoever towards the person, then you can use this technique; otherwise, it indicates you actually have no emotional attachment." The old master said, smiling.

Long Chen pondered these words thoughtfully.

"Come, listen carefully, I will transmit the technique to you."

"Alright."

...

An hour later, Zhuge, the old master, departed.

And within an hour, Long Chen had mastered the Heart Observation Technique.

It was like unlocking a new ability. Using this Heart Observation Technique in encounters with enemies or in business dealings could prove incredibly effective.

Thinking of this, Long Chen was in high spirits. He took leisurely steps out of his house to take a walk and bask in the sun.

However, just as Long Chen stepped out of his villa’s gates, he saw a girl walking towards him.

It was none other than Cheng Cheng, whom he had once helped in a village outside South County City.

"How did she find this place?" Long Chen was utterly surprised.

Then, he quickly went back inside to find something to cover his face and grabbed a hat before stepping out again.

He wanted to tease Cheng Cheng to see if she could recognize him.

As he stepped out, Long Chen ran into Cheng Cheng face to face.

"Hello, may I ask if this is Long Chen’s home?"

Cheng Cheng asked softly.

"Long Chen? I don’t know this person; you must have the wrong place," Long Chen said, intentionally lowering his voice.

Cheng Cheng’s calm expression suddenly turned to extreme joy.

"You are Long Chen."

She didn’t hesitate and immediately grabbed Long Chen’s arm.

Despite Long Chen being wrapped up tightly, she recognized him as soon as he spoke.

"Everyone thought you were dead; I thought so too, but it turns out you’re still alive."

Tears filled Cheng Cheng’s eyes as she spoke.

"You’ve got the wrong person; I’m not Long Chen," Long Chen said, pretending to walk away.

But Cheng Cheng wouldn’t let him leave, and she quickly pulled off the cloth covering his face.

Seeing Long Chen’s face, she couldn’t help herself and threw herself into his arms, "You’re still alive, that’s wonderful."
