Chapter 127: Chapter 125: An Interesting Bet
Long Chen was stunned, totally didn’t expect Xia Ling to pull off such a sneak attack.
Xia Ling didn’t back off right after touching his face, instead, she went from cupping his face to wrapping her arms around Long Chen’s neck.
She seemed to get more and more into it.
Long Chen smelled a fragrance and felt Xia Ling’s even more fervent actions.
In a blink, Long Chen hurriedly got up.
"What’s wrong?"
Xia Ling asked, puzzled.
"With so many people around, aren’t you embarrassed?"
Long Chen chuckled dryly.
Xia Ling shook her head, "If I could, I’d want the whole world to see me kissing you."
"Are you serious?"
"Uh-huh." Xia Ling nodded vigorously, "I’ve set my heart on you."
"We’re fated but not destined for each other, let’s talk about it another time, I’m leaving."
Long Chen waved his hand and left the café.
Xia Ling stared at Long Chen’s retreating figure, feeling a little down.
Meanwhile, many men inside the café were filled with admiration for the departing Long Chen.
Because whether it was appearance, figure, or temperament, Xia Ling was top-notch.
Such a stunning beauty, and Long Chen had just rejected her and left.
"That guy must be some impressive rich second generation."
"I think so too."
"Who isn’t a rich second generation? Watch this."
A young man in white approached Xia Ling.
Xia Ling looked at the newcomer with confusion, "What is it?"
"Beautiful lady, I see you’re not in a good mood, do you need someone to talk to and cheer you up? Oh, here’s my business card, I’m the general manager of Xue’s Corporation."
The young man handed over his business card.
"Not interested."
Xia Ling stepped away without giving it a glance.
The young man’s expression stiffened, his usual trick of handing out his business card had always been foolproof.
...
Outside, Long Chen walked to the side of the road, ready to hail a taxi.
He did not drive to meet Xia Ling this time.
After waiting for quite a while, Long Chen still couldn’t flag down a cab.
Just as Long Chen was getting frustrated and considering walking back, a man and a woman who were approaching caught his attention.
The young man was hassling the young girl for her WeChat.
The girl was plump and tall, exuding a strong presence.
She seemed extremely annoyed by the young man’s pestering, "I’ve told you already, I don’t add strangers on WeChat. Stop following me or I’ll call the police."
"Calling the police won’t solve the problem. I see you on this street every day; I’ve seen you at least a dozen times. So we’re not strangers. Just add me on WeChat, beautiful."
The young man grinned cheekily.
"You... you’re just unbearable. Why should I have to add you? It’s broad daylight, this is harassment."
The girl quickened her pace.
The young man didn’t give up and tried to follow her.
But as he passed by Long Chen, Long Chen grabbed him.
"What’s this about, bro?"
The young man was confused.
"Man, I think your approach undermines our dignity as men. Begging for a WeChat to the point where she gets annoyed, will make her think all guys are as pathetic and brainless as you," Long Chen said calmly.
"You’re the one who’s insane."
The young man glared at Long Chen, "Let go, or I won’t be so polite."
"I’m also a stranger to her. How about we make a bet? I’ll try to get her WeChat, and if I succeed, you treat us both to dinner, how about that?" asked Long Chen.
"You? I can’t deny, you’ve got a bit of a pretty boy look, but you won’t succeed. I’ve been chasing her down the street and still haven’t got it. If you can do it, I’ll treat you to dinner," the young man said.
"Deal. Don’t back out. If you do, I’ll give you a beating, no joke."
Long Chen let go of the young man.
"Go ahead, we’ll see if you’ve actually got any skills, or if you’re just a brainless showoff. If you fail, then you’re the idiot."
The young man scoffed.
"Wait and see; today I’ll teach you how to get a WeChat without being annoying."
Long Chen quickened his pace, rapidly catching up to the curvy girl.
"Miss, please wait."
Long Chen called out with a smile.
The girl turned her head and glanced over, only to find it wasn’t the man who had chased her down the street before but an exceptionally handsome man. She hesitated for a second.
But soon, the girl started walking forward again and said coldly, "Did that guy send you to get my contact info? Go tell him no chance, I won’t give it."
"It wasn’t him who sent me; I’m not like him," Long Chen said earnestly.
"What’s the difference? You men are all the same. Why would you think you can just ask for a girl’s WeChat on the street and easily sweet-talk her into bed? Dreaming much?" the girl said.
"Then you’re really mistaken. I’m not interested in you; I’m actually an insurance salesman," Long Chen said.
"Sorry, I don’t buy insurance. I don’t have the money for it," the girl said impatiently.
"This insurance is quite special. It won’t cost you a penny, but it’s worth a fortune. Want to hear about it?"
"There’s such an insurance?" the girl eyed Long Chen with suspicion. "Are you a scam artist?"
"It’s not a scam; it’s real insurance, ensuring you a lifetime place in my heart," Long Chen said seriously.
Pfft.
The girl couldn’t help but laugh. "You’re quite the funny one. Are you with that guy from before?"
"Definitely not. I’m ashamed to be associated with him. So, about this insurance—do you want to buy it?" Long Chen asked with a smile.
"Isn’t it free?"
The girl took a serious look at Long Chen—those features, that temperament, truly handsome.
She could feel her heart pounding but tried not to show it.
"The insurance is free, but," Long Chen smiled, "you’ll need to provide your WeChat. Are you willing?"
"Well, give you a chance then, here, scan this."
The girl took out her phone and opened the QR code.
Long Chen quickly added her as a friend.
"Your nickname, ’Super White Rabbit,’ seems like an old hand at this," the girl said with a coy laugh.
"Cough, not at all."
After completing his mission, Long Chen turned around and beckoned to the young man.
The young man ran over, full of disbelief.
This guy actually succeeded?
He felt incredibly frustrated, and the more he thought about it, the angrier he got: "Why the hell would you give him your contact details, but not me? I see you, just playing innocent. Damn, I thought you were so pure."
"What did you say?" the girl’s face fell. "Talk clean."
"What? You gonna hit me on the street?" The young man sneered. "What about you?"
Whack.
Just as the young man’s arrogance began to swell, Long Chen slapped him across the face, "Failing to get her contact info, you insult a young girl like this. Do you have no shame?"
"You dare hit me?"
The young man clutched his face, fuming with rage.
"So what if I hit you?" Long Chen kicked him in the gut. "It’s also fortunate this lady didn’t give you a chance, or else you, with your AIDS, would have tainted her, and that would have serious consequences. If you’re sick, go get treated properly and stop harming others."
"How did you know?"
The young man was shocked.
The girl also startled, stepped back twice, subconsciously distancing herself from the young man.
Long Chen smiled coldly, "AIDS isn’t scary; what’s scary is you. You’re a terrible person. Get as far away from us as possible, and don’t let me see you again."
The young man gritted his teeth, but now he dared not retaliate, subdued by Long Chen’s imposing manner.
He slowly got up and was about to leave when Long Chen called out to him again, "Wait, you haven’t transferred the money for the meal. Hurry up, that’s going to be about a thousand."
"You play hardball."
The young man took out his phone and reluctantly made a payment through the payment code.
Afterward, the young man clutched his stomach and walked away.
"Thank you for standing up for me."
The girl thanked Long Chen.
"Don’t mention it. I just can’t stand scum like that," Long Chen said with a smile.
"Yeah, I can tell you’re different from him. Let’s reintroduce ourselves. My name is Wu Nuan."
The girl extended her fair, delicate hand.
"Long Chen."
Long Chen shook her hand briefly and then let go.
Wu Nuan was slightly taken aback; she had thought Long Chen would take the opportunity to hold her hand a bit longer, but he didn’t do so.
This act made Long Chen’s impression in Wu Nuan’s heart improve by quite a bit.
"How did you know that guy had AIDS?" Wu Nuan asked.
"I run a medical clinic," Long Chen said with a smile.
"That’s impressive? Hehe, I also study medicine," Wu Nuan giggled. "It seems we really are destined to meet."
"Really?" Long Chen was a bit astonished. "Well, in that case, I guess I have to come clean."
