Chapter 450. Tango Twin Islands

Chapter 450: 450. Tango Twin Islands

A shimmering golden barrier enclosed the Tango Twin Island, glimmering faintly like a mirage under the sun. Within its perimeter, patrols flew gracefully— some on enchanted swords, others riding sleek hoverboards, leaving ethereal trails in the air.

From afar, the golden sands sparkled so vividly it was hard to believe it wasn’t metaphorical. The light bounced off the beach and dyed the nearby waters with a rich, honeyed hue, as if the entire shore was dipped in gold.

The island itself was massive, spread out like a sprawling paradise. Yet despite its size, none of the buildings exceeded five storeys in height.

In the heart of the island stood a massive arc-like structure, built from a strange material that looked like polished wood yet shimmered with glowing veins. It stood proudly as the centerpiece, surrounded by curious onlookers and tourists taking photos or sketching it.

"That arc connects this island to its twin," Mana explained. She stood beside Tyler, both of them peering through a round window from inside their ship. "There’s another island just like this one floating a bit farther away— same buildings, same layout, almost identical in every detail. If we walk through that arc, we’ll be transported directly to the other island."

Tyler folded his arms, raising an eyebrow. "So they’re literally twins? Both are part of the Tango Twin Island?"

"Yup," Mana nodded. "It’s kind of tradition. They just kept the old name. See, this place used to be one of the Games created by the gods."

"Games of Gods? But looks like not anymore." Tyler tilted his head, intrigued.

"Yeah," she continued, while munching an Apple. "During Gods Era, this Island is one of the twisted challenges that travellers needed to survive to go further North. This one was known as the Twin Island Game. Anyone who entered would have a perfect duplicate created on the opposite island. And their goal? Escape the island without ever realizing they’ve switched places. The stories say sometimes the islands would swap people without them noticing. You’d think you’re with your crew, your friends... but they were just mirror copies."

Tyler’s face paled slightly. "Creepy... imagine realizing your lover isn’t actually your lover after a night session. Glad the game’s not active anymore."

"Is that the only thing you can think of?..." Mana scoffed at him sideways. "It’s not that simple. The island is safe now, yeah, the game is inactive. Also we never came across these Ancient Active Games, only because Lily’s guiding us through safe Route. Still, we’re heading toward the Edge of the World. It’s not unlikely we’ll step into other active games along the way."

That didn’t exactly reassure Tyler. "Great. Something to look forward to..."

At that moment, a small chime rang throughout the ship. The golden barrier ahead shimmered, then opened just wide enough to allow entry. With a gentle rumble, the White Pearl slid through the opening, officially entering Tango Twin Island’s territory.

The ship docked smoothly along the beachside pier, which extended into the glittering golden sands. Local officials greeted them with polite nods and began a formal inspection.

Meanwhile, Darla and the crew swiftly moved into action, as they always did on every new island— setting up temporary stalls, promoting goods, placing bulk orders, and even negotiating land purchases for potential restaurant branches.

Lily, naturally, had already vanished into the island’s underbelly. She’d gone off to gather information, as usual— through shady contacts, underground guilds, or anyone willing to talk in exchange for a favor or coin or punches.

Tyler, however, doesn’t want to show his face. The chances of someone who is under Immortal Feng might notice him is probably 0.02% but he still doesn’t want to take any chances.

He along with Mana left silently. With a quick activation of their Phantom Masks, their appearances shifted.

Tyler now looked like a carefree traveler with short dark hair and a tropical shirt, while Mana’s look softened into that of a cheerful girl with beachwear and a wide sunhat.

Disguised as a young couple, they walked on the sand and into the bustling life of the island, blending in seamlessly with the crowd.

"Where are we going? To a Love Hotel?" Mana asked with a teasing smile as they strolled past a coconut stand.

"Should we?" Tyler replied, smirking.

Mana rolled her eyes but couldn’t hide the faint blush on her cheeks. "You’re impossible."

They wandered deeper into the island. The architecture had a laid-back charm to it— vividly colored walls, curved roofs, and plant-draped balconies. It resembled a high-end resort island, the kind favored by nobles or wealthy wanderers. Joyful music echoed in the distance, accompanied by the scent of fried food, roasted fish, and rare fruits.

They ate local specialities as they arrived at the Arc.

People gathered around the Arc curiously, drawn by its beauty and the myths surrounding it. A few dared to step through, vanishing instantly as the arc shimmered. Some came back from the other side moments later— others didn’t.

"Should we go too?" Mana asked as they paused nearby.

"Lily is taking care of Information gathering. Darla is taking care of buisness. I am basically Unemployed now." Tyler muttered, eyes turned towards the Arc, "Lets go inside. I mean what could possibly go wrong?."

Mana remained silent. Both entered the Arc and walked out.

They looked at the buildings, they are all the same.

"Did we really teleport?"

As they moved on, Tyler caught a glimpse of a pair of children playing in the sand —identical twins laughing as they chased each other around. But as he looked closer, one of them suddenly stopped and stared at him. No emotion. Just an eerie stillness. Then it smiled— too wide, too slow— and returned to play.

Tyler blinked, shaken. "Mana... *cough* am I seeing things?"

"What are you saying?" she asked with a same creepy smile.

Tyler looked turned his head like a Rusted sword sheathed slowly.

Mana mouth widened and spoke in a robotic and terrifying multiple voices together , "What happen Tyler? Don’t you wanna go Love Hotel with Mana?"
