The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman -
Chapter 876:
“I’ll be going now.”
Raon waved to Sylvia and Edgar, then glanced behind him.
“Um, sis? I have to go now…”
He let out a heavy sigh as he looked at Sia, who was hanging on his shoulder.
“You can’t go!”
Sia shook her head vigorously, determined not to let him leave.
“I kept my promise and protected home, so why are you leaving again!”
She pouted, upset at the thought of leaving the annex.
“It’s not about whether I want to go or not, but it feels like my bones are going to break…”
Since Sia was hugging him with all her strength, the parts of his collarbone and ribs where her arms touched felt like they might shatter. But because of what he had said before, he couldn’t push her away and just had to endure.
“This time, it won’t take many nights.”
Raon promised to return as soon as possible, putting his hands together.
“I’ll definitely bring you a present too.”
His voice rustled with a warm tone like autumn leaves. He truly looked like he was dealing with a child.
“A present…?”
The moment Sia heard the word “present,” she quickly looked up. Her eyes sparkled like rubies.
“What kind of present?”
“That’s a secret.”
Since he hadn’t actually thought of anything yet, he diverted the conversation.
“Hmm…”
Sia, seemingly tempted by the word “present,” began to loosen her grip around his shoulders.
“Sia. Raon isn’t leaving because he wants to.”
Sylvia gently patted Sia’s back, sensing the opportunity.
“That’s right! Raon is only going out on a mission for our sake. That’s why he even lied about the present… kuh!”
Edgar was muttering that the present Raon promised was a lie when Sylvia kicked him. (T/N: I feel like Edgar is now Rimmer’s replacement for a comedic relief lol.)
He flew so hard that he slammed into the annex’s fence.
“Hmm…”
Fortunately, Sia seemed not to have heard Edgar, as she looked around and got down from Raon’s back.
“I’ll be back soon. Please look after the house again this time.”
Raon lightly patted Sia’s head, smiling gently.
“Okay. But…”
“Yeah. I’ll definitely bring a present.”
He said “present” again as he glared at Edgar stuck in the wall.
“Okay! Leave the house to me!”
With renewed energy from the promise of a present, Sia put her hands on her hips and nodded.
Her expression was still childish, but her presence was like that of a general roaring on the battlefield.
‘It might not be a bad idea to teach my sister swordsmanship when I return.’
Since her energy was so strong, it would be good to properly teach her how to control and use her strength.
“I’m really leaving now.”
Raon waved to Sylvia and Sia, who was in her arms, and left the garden.
– Just like your sister, she’s stubborn. She’s going to be trouble in the future.
– “I can already see the future.”
‘It’s not really troublesome.’
Raon shook his head calmly.
‘Rather, it gives me a sense of stability.’
If it were his past life, he might have agreed with Wrath, but living this life and learning the value of family and bonds made Sia’s whining feel cute.
– “Are you becoming more human…?”
‘I was always human.’
– “Hmph! You were originally a Celestial.”
Wrath snorted, saying Raon didn’t have a human identity at all.
‘Let’s not curse.’
Raon tapped Wrath’s nose and smiled. Realizing that even as a Celestial, he now felt cursing was unpleasant, he thought he had changed a lot.
“To think there’s someone who can make Raon Zieghart, the Light Wind Division Leader, so flustered. I’d better be careful.”
Burren, waiting outside the garden, smiled warmly, finding the sibling relationship endearing.
“So, behind that innocent smile is the martial power of a Grandmaster? That’s chilling.”
Martha licked her lips, saying she wanted to spar with Sia.
“I’m a bit jealous…”
Runaan muttered, staring at her own back.
“Let’s get going! There’s a lot to pack when we go home. First, we need to stock up on supplies and make sure to grab all the essentials…”
Dorian started listing all the items he wanted to bring from the Seiphia Trading Company, as if he wanted to gather everything in the world.
“I knew the kids were unique, but this is chaos.”
Sheryl shook her head as she looked at the division leaders and Dorian, all saying whatever they wanted.
“It’s because the one who taught them is the most unique swordsman of all.”
Raon laughed as if it was obvious and stepped forward.
“That’s true.”
Sheryl smiled wryly and followed behind.
—
After finishing dinner, Raon was enjoying a brief rest by the campfire when Sheryl came over.
“It seems you’ve gotten used to sleeping outdoors.”
Sheryl sat by the fire and shrugged.
“When I first took you out, you seemed pretty clueless.”
“I was fine. They were just slow.”
Raon shook his head, pointing at Dorian and the squad captains who were tidying up nearby.
‘Camping was basically my life.’
Having lived as an assassin for so long, he was well-versed in camping.
If he seemed awkward, it was probably because of the Light Wind division members.
“Now that I think about it, you fought our vice division leader from the beginning, didn’t you?”
“We didn’t fight, we arm-wrestled.”
“Yeah. I thought you weren’t normal from then.”
Sheryl laughed, recalling the past.
“How is he doing?”
“Still just building muscle. I guess he doesn’t want to lose in arm wrestling.”
She clicked her tongue, saying he seemed more obsessed with muscle than martial arts.
“I think I get it.”
Raon smiled faintly and looked back at the fire.
“Hey…”
After a brief silence, Sheryl spoke slowly.
“I heard the Soul Requiem Sword contains that bastard’s soul. Is that true?”
“Yes, it’s true.”
Raon nodded, meeting Sheryl’s trembling eyes.
“Lady Siyan tried to release Master’s soul, but it was rooted in the Soul Requiem Sword and wouldn’t come out.”
“…Can I see the sword for a moment?”
Like someone making a difficult request, Sheryl lowered her head and swallowed.
“Of course.”
Raon nodded and handed her the Soul Requiem Sword.
Normally, you shouldn’t hand over a cursed sword, but he felt it would be okay with Sheryl.
“Thank you.”
Sheryl accepted the sword with trembling hands.
“You bastard!”
She stared at the crimson blade of the sword, releasing emotions she’d held back.
“How could you just leave like that…” (T/N: Uhhhh. Is it me, orrrrrrrr maybe Rimmer got her preggy? lol)
Sheryl gripped the sword with both hands and leaned her forehead against it. Because of the flickering campfire, it looked as if she was leaning on Rimmer.
After holding the Soul Requiem Sword for a while, Sheryl raised her head, her expression a bit more relieved.
“Thank you. I feel a bit better now.”
She bowed her head sincerely, returning the sword to Raon.
“Um…”
Raon, holding the still-warm sword, lowered his voice.
“What was the relationship between Master and the Leader of the Heavenly Sword Division?”
“Huh…?”
Sheryl blushed at the unexpected question. Her normally composed face seemed to crack.
“Well, um…”
She couldn’t answer right away, nervously fidgeting with her shoulders and rolling her trembling eyes.
“Raon. We’re ready! You said we have to arrive before dawn, so let’s go!”
As Raon waited for Sheryl’s answer, Martha waved her hand, urging them to leave.
“Okay, just a minute…”
Raon nodded, trying to get Sheryl’s answer, but she was already next to Burren in the lead.
“Let’s go! It could be dangerous if we’re any later!”
With her face still red, Sheryl rotated her ankle, motioning for them to hurry.
“Hmm…”
Raon clicked his tongue. It looked like he’d have to ask about Sheryl and Rimmer’s relationship another time.
‘So what’s going on here? Did Sheryl like Master more?’
While he tilted his head in confusion, Martha slapped him on the back.
“Sometimes, there are things you don’t need to ask about.”
“Idiot…”
Runaan stuck out her tongue, agreeing as she passed by.
‘What does that mean?’
– “That’s why you’re not human!”
Wrath clicked his tongue in disappointment.
‘I mean, just say…’
– “Foolish Celestial.”
‘Even if I’m a Celestial, just give me an answer.’
– “Dumb Celestial!”
‘You don’t know either, do you?’
– ……
—
The great city of Lokan in the southwest of the continent.
Though night’s thick blanket covered the entire city, the office of the Seiphia Trading Company’s head remained brightly lit.
“Hm…”
Adis Seiphia, the lonely owner of that light and head of the Seiphia Trading Company, busily moved around his office, writing countless lines.
The late hour, which split light from darkness, seemed to announce a momentous time for the head of the continent’s most influential trading company.
“Chairman.”
The old butler Ligwin bowed his head respectfully.
“It’s late. Wouldn’t it be better to rest now?”
He clasped his hands in front of him, saying Adis shouldn’t overdo it.
“Normally, you’d be right. But this time, something important is happening.”
Adis shook his head firmly, saying he appreciated the advice but couldn’t take it.
“Dorian. My son is returning, so I can’t be careless with the preparations!”
He couldn’t hide his smile at the thought of seeing his son again.
This late-night light wasn’t a symbol of his conviction as a chairman, but of his affection as a father.
“You must be happy.”
Ligwin shook his head, saying it had been a while since he’d seen Adis smile like that.
“Ahem! I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Adis’s lips twitched like someone from the North.
“You’re definitely smiling.”
Ligwin shrugged as if to offer him a mirror.
“That’s not it! I’ve just heard rumors about my son’s achievements, so I’m a little excited, that’s all!”
Adis waved his hands, denying it, but couldn’t hide his smiling lips.
“But when will he get here…”
He lowered his eyebrows, finding it hard to wait.
“A letter arrived today, so even if he takes a dimensional gate, he’ll probably arrive tomorrow or the day after.”
Ligwin nodded, saying there was no need to hurry.
“Yeah, that’s probably right.”
Adis agreed, thinking a little patience would be good, and sat down.
“Hm?”
Ligwin put his hand to his ear and frowned.
“What’s wrong?”
Adis narrowed his eyes at Ligwin.
“Well…”
Ligwin exhaled and looked out the window.
“Sir, the Young Master and the Light Wind Division Leader are here…”
“What? Now?”
“Yes. They’ve already passed through the main gate.”
“Hah…”
Adis’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“I didn’t think they’d get here this quickly.”
“Let’s prepare to greet them.”
Ligwin quickly tidied up the mess Adis had made in the office.
With every movement, dust vanished, revealing the office’s original neat state.
“Ahem!”
Adis straightened his wrinkled clothes and sat at his desk with a pen in hand. While he pretended to work, a knock came at the door.
“Chairman. The Young Master and guests have arrived.”
The butler’s voice came from outside.
“Come in.”
Adis nodded, lowering his voice as much as possible.
‘Dorian?’
But the moment he saw his son, he couldn’t help but gape.
His always chubby son had slimmed down, looking more dignified than any swordsman he knew.
Of course, compared to Raon coming in behind him, he lost a bit of luster, but he was impressive to ordinary people.
“Father!”
Dorian, excited by the reunion, rushed over.
“Hmm…”
Adis lowered his eyebrows.
Normally, he would’ve pushed his son away to make him stronger, but seeing him changed like this, he felt a soft spot and wanted to hug him.
‘Yeah. He’s worked hard.’
Seeing the effort his son must have put in, he decided to let his guard down just this once.
“Dorian!”
As Adis spread his arms to hug his son, Dorian suddenly stopped and pulled out a small note.
“There’s a lot I need! First, fire-resistant stone walls, external and internal medicine, holy water, camping tents and beds…”
While Adis awkwardly held his arms out, Dorian rattled off all the supplies he needed.
“……”
The anticipation in Adis’s eyes turned cold.
—
“We also need a hammer and saw—ack!”
“Stop it.”
Raon pulled the endlessly demanding Dorian back and bowed to the dazed Adis Seiphia.
“Chairman, it’s been a while.”
“Uh, um…”
Adis massaged his temples, bowing back as he came to his senses.
“It’s been a while. Light Wind Division Leader, Heavenly Sword Division Leader, welcome.”
He extended a polite greeting to Sheryl as well as Raon.
“Sorry for visiting so late.”
Sheryl bowed apologetically.
“It’s fine. I was working on paperwork anyway.”
Adis waved a sheet of paper with nothing written on it, not realizing in his fluster that it was blank.
“But coming so quickly makes me think something urgent happened.”
“Yes. Do you have any information about the Gray Hammer Guild?”
Raon stepped forward and asked.
Since Lokan and the Gray Hammer Guild’s territory were not far apart, it was likely Adis had news.
“I haven’t met Borgos this year. At the end of last year, when I sent a gift, he said not to contact him for a while because he had something important to do.”
Adis shook his head, resting his arms on the desk.
“As you know, craftsmen sometimes suddenly lock themselves away in their workshops. I thought it was normal, but now it seems something’s wrong.”
“Yes. I didn’t write this in case of misunderstanding…”
Raon took out the letter from Borgos and showed it.
“Hmm, it’s definitely his handwriting. But…”
Adis frowned as he looked at the letter.
“He’s not the kind of person to send something like this…”
He said Borgos would die alone before asking for help from someone he didn’t know well.
“He must have been desperate.”
“Then maybe we should go right away…”
“Please wait. I already sent my son to check on the Gray Hammer Guild, so he should be back soon.”
Adis said it was about time and gestured for them to sit on the sofa.
“Understood.”
Raon nodded gravely and sat on the sofa as Ligwin guided him.
“T-then, I’ll go take care of the supplies!”
Dorian, looking anxious, glanced back and forth between Adis and Raon.
“Ha, do as you wish.”
Adis glared at Dorian and waved his hand dismissively.
“Yes, sir!”
Dorian saluted and left the office.
“…What do you think of that boy?”
As soon as Dorian left, Adis asked about him.
“He’s scatterbrained and timid to be a swordsman.”
Raon spoke calmly about Dorian’s usual self.
“I thought so…”
“But now he’s built up enough resolve and skill to overcome that fear. No matter what anyone says, he’s a splendid Zieghart swordsman.”
“I see.”
Adis smiled faintly, clearly pleased by Raon’s sincere praise.
“He’s a friend I can trust with my back.”
“That much?”
“Yes. I mean it.”
“Ha ha!”
At the same time he laughed in surprise, sounds of things breaking echoed throughout the trading company building.
“This brat! Just how much…”
As Adis frowned and got up, the office door opened and Dorian’s older brother, Dialun Seiphia, entered with a brown-bearded dwarf.
“F-Father! There’s big trouble.”
Dialun took heavy, ragged breaths as he walked in.
“Calm down.”
“I can’t calm down!”
He shook his head and pointed to the dwarf next to him.
“Most of the dwarves of the Gray Hammer Guild, including Lord Borgos, were captured by monsters!”
Dialun trembled as he said the dwarves had been attacked at their base.
“Hm?”
Adis looked at the dwarf.
“Is that true?”
“Yes…”
The dwarf hung his head, his chin trembling.
“What happened?”
Adis slammed the desk, demanding an explanation.
“Monsters came up from under the Burning Land where we built our workshop. We tried to stop them, but their strength was overwhelming…”
The dwarf grabbed his head, saying it was a hopeless force.
“Then you should have asked for help!”
Martha frowned.
“Dwarves don’t usually borrow others’ strength. They try to solve things themselves no matter what.”
Adis shook his head, saying dwarves only ask for help when their entire race is in danger.
“What kind of monsters were they? Giant worms?”
“No. They spoke like us, but were huge, had crimson wings, and wielded flaming swords or whips.”
The dwarf clutched his head, saying their weapons had no effect.
“Flaming swords or whips?”
Raon narrowed his eyes at the dwarf’s words.
‘Were there monsters like that?’
He racked his brain but couldn’t think of any.
-Hmm…
Just as he was about to ask again, Wrath scratched his nose and shook his head.
‘Why?’
– “Those guys seem oddly familiar to this king…”
