The Regressor Is The Villain -
Chapter 61: Frontier (2)
Chapter 61: Frontier (2)
"My head is starting to hurt..."
One of the Knights who had been escorting me spoke so while holding his head.
I am currently still investigating in the Abyss territory. Our current members are me, Aster, the Knight who escorted me and the Knights of the Frontier Wall.
I did not bring Yoon here because it would be troublesome to protect someone when we do not know what we are investigating.
Even if we met a dangerous enemy, we would go straight back to the Frontier Wall.
My father ordered me to avoid fighting and leave after completing the investigation.
But it seemed like it would be a little long because we even started to enter a few kilometers from the Frontier Wall but we hadn’t found any powerful monsters yet.
"This is so strange..."
Elise muttered while looking at the giant footprints on the ground that were as big as my head.
I approached Elise and joined her in observing the footprints.
"Minotaur?"
"It seems so, but this is very strange. Minotaurs are individual creatures, but..."
Elise then looked at the other footprints, and I looked too. There were hundreds of other footprints moving in the same direction. Approaching towards the ’Abyss’.
"Why did they come back?"
Come back, that’s the word to describe the actions of these monsters.
The Abyss was the place where all monsters appeared and the place where The Evil One and his army were sealed. A very dark abyss where negative energy collects.
I don’t really know what’s inside the Abyss, but I heard that there are 5 layers. And the 5th or outer layer is where monsters are created.
But why did the monsters return to their homes? Is there something going on inside the Abyss?
I thought of several theories but in the end I couldn’t find a way to know which theory was correct.
"Everyone, please listen."
Elise then began to gather all the members and started talking about the next plan.
"From the results of the investigation, it seems that something happened in the North that caused the monsters to return to the depths of the Abyss."
"North?"
Everyone then looked towards the North, although the current scene was only dry land but far to the North, past the Abyss territory there was a territory that did not belong to anyone.
It wasn’t that the territory had anything special, it was just that it couldn’t be a place for any living creature to live.
The territory called ’North of the World’ was a place with a climate close to -1,000° ~ -10,000 Celsius and was always hit by endless snowstorms. Even closer to the northernmost peak point of the planet, the temperature can reach -1,000,000.
With such levels, it is almost impossible for living things to live there. Even for creatures with the Highest Mortal rank, it was very difficult to survive for a day.
"Is there anything in the North? Isn’t there nothing but endless snowstorms?"
One of the Knights escorting me asked Elise and the Knights of the Frontier Wall.
"..."
But they couldn’t answer either because they were thinking the same thing.
There was nothing in the North. That was the norm in this world.
I was also thinking the same thing in episode 1 until that day came.
Although the ’North of the World’ is known to be uninhabited, it actually has native and migrant inhabitants.
The immigrant creatures in the ’North of the World’ shouldn’t have appeared yet, they appeared because the world cracks were expanding but there wasn’t anything that made the world cracks expand.
Then the next possibility is the original inhabitants of the ’North of the World’.
The Titan, one of the 6 Disasters. He, is an enormous living creature that sleeps in the ’North of the World’.
The Titan was a creature that had similarities to The Colors, a creature that was created from the world directly without any breeding interference.
So it could be said that The Titan was a creature that lived long before the era of Ancient Heroes.
And most likely at this time only The Titan can make the monsters in the Abyss scared.
But it is unlikely that The Titan will rise this quickly. There are still a few more years before The Titan rises, even if The Titan rises. I’m sure I’d be 100% dead if I fought with that thing right now.
Considering that my stat stopped at rank A, fighting The Titan with the current strength would only make me die a ridiculous death.
(No way, right?)
Even though my brain was sure that The Titan wouldn’t appear, but what was this uneasy feeling. Am I forgetting something?
"Are you guys going to keep quiet?"
"Eh?"
I then stood up and looked sarcastically at everyone.
"If you have time to think, you’d better hurry up."
After saying that, I then started walking away towards the North.
"Wait, that’s too dangerous Young Master Zend!"
Elise stood up and blocked me.
"Then are you going to keep quietly waiting for something to happen?"
"That..."
"Heh, I guess I had high hopes for you guys. I never thought that the people guarding the Border Wall would be so cowardly..."
"..."
Elise’s expression instantly turned cold.
"Please withdraw your words, Young Master Zend. I do not mind if you insult me but I will not forgive if you insult my subordinates."
Elise’s aura had really turned a bit frightening. Even our atmosphere had really become very unapproachable, the Knights and Daisies were looking at us in confusion as to how to handle the current situation.
"Heh, I don’t care."
Then I passed by Elise, and Elise then started talking. But a voice interrupted us.
*Growl*
"..."
"..."
"..."
(...)
(...)
Instantly everyone there fell silent, everyone’s eyes then turned to me, or rather to my stomach.
"~~"
...
With an expression of restrained embarrassment and still maintaining my cold expression, I ate the dried meat.
(Pfft... Did you see that just now, Nifl? Hahaha so funny right?)
(Big brother! You can’t...Pfft...)
(...You two...)
(Ah! That’s not it, Master!)
I was used to Muspel but it was surprising to hear Nifl laughing as well. I was honestly hurt...
(Ah! I’m sorry, Master!)
Leaving Nifl who was shouting, I looked at Elise who was eating dried meat as well.
I honestly don’t like making such a nice woman angry, but it was the only way I could think of to get us moving.
I feel as if we should continue the investigation before it’s too late.
I don’t mind being hated, no, I actually like being hated. That way my Villain points will increase.
Just then, Elise’s and my eyes met and we both looked away at the same time.
"Hmph..."
"..."
(Hahaha, did you see that Nifl? Zend can still act even after the previous incident, hahaha!)
...I’ll throw you away someday, Muspel...
Just as I was thinking about disposing of Muspel, the bushes in front of us moved.
Everyone was instantly on alert in a position ready to fight at any moment.
Then from behind the bushes appeared 5 men who were badly injured.
"!!! Are you guys okay-"
Seeing them injured, the knight escorting me tried to approach and help them but Elise and I immediately stopped the knight’s actions.
"Why did the young lord stop me?"
"Tsk, look at the clothes they’re wearing."
I then pointed to the clothes of the 5 injured people.
It was a very distinctive military outfit, with two dragon emblems. The distinctive emblem belonged to the Empire, meaning that the people in front of us right now were people from the Empire.
"Why is the Imperial Military here..."
I vigilantly asked them while preparing to launch an attack using Nifl.
If they were in Wolfled territory, I would have cut off their heads instantly. But we were currently in Abyss territory, not Wolfled.
One of the least wounded men then walked in front of me, instantly the whole crowd immediately prepared to launch an attack but I told them to stop.
Then, the man suddenly bowed to me.
"Please save our captain!"
"Huh?"
Instantly my expression turned into that of a fool.
The enemy that had always caused us trouble had even left many of our Knights dead. In addition the Empire was also one of the countries that betrayed humanity and sided with The Evil One was currently bowing its head at me.
"What is the meaning of this? What’s the Empire’s new joke."
I immediately pointed the blade of Nifl’s sword at the man’s neck.
"I know it’s strange, but I’m asking you for a favor. Please save our Captain."
"Your captain?"
"Yes, right now the captain is fighting a creature as big as a mountain."
"Huh? Are you trying to fool us? How can there be a living creature that big. Besides why are you guys here, the Empire shouldn’t be here."
Upon hearing the man’s explanation, the Knight escorting me looked annoyed at the lies of the man from the Empire.
But to me the words of the man from the Empire were words of horror.
I immediately grabbed the man’s shoulder tightly.
"You said a living creature as big as a mountain, right?"
"Eh? Ah, y-yes."
"Young Master? There can’t be such creatures, you can’t believe their mouths..."
Then at that moment, a voice rang out from the North.
*Doom*
With that sound, the ground we stood on trembled. Withered trees fell, and the ground began to show signs of cracking.
"What is this? Young master, be careful. It might be a cunning trick from this Imperial person-"
I ignored the Knight’s words and looked at Elise.
"Give me the scopes!"
"Eh?"
"Hurry!"
Full of emotion, I shouted at Elise. Elise who was shocked by my anger immediately obeyed and gave me a pair of scopes.
After receiving the scope, I quickly climbed up to the tallest tree there. Even though it was withered, I could still use the tree.
I climbed to the top of the tree and used the scopes to look to the North.
"Ah...Fuck you all..."
