Chapter 220 - 212: Going to the Police Station
Chapter 220: Chapter 212: Going to the Police Station
Xue Jianian busily warned from outside, "Jingqiu, be careful."
Lu Jingqiu was no pushover; she deftly dodged the slap aimed at her, grabbed the hair from the side, and pulled with a force to be reckoned with. Although she had turned into a well-behaved girl in the past two years, when it came to fighting, she had honed her skills during those two years in Ten-miles Village brawling with Xia Lin.
Xia Lin also grabbed her hair from the side, neither of them showing any weakness.
Yang Linghua had just been caught off guard and hit hard by Lu Jingqiu, and now there was no way she was going to let that slide.
Staggering to her feet, she lunged at Lu Jingqiu. Xue Jianian and Luo Xinyue exchanged a glance and stepped forward to stop Yang Linghua, "Stop fighting! What are you doing, trying to gang up on her because you’re outnumbered?"
Yang Linghua would not let herself be pulled away, retorted fiercely, "It’s none of your business. Mind your own business."
As she spoke, she pushed Xue Jianian to the ground.
Looking at the fallen Xue Jianian, Yang Linghua was momentarily stunned. She wasn’t that ruthless, "Hey, what are you doing? Stop faking it."
Xue Jianian, seated on the ground in pain, said, "I was just trying to give you some friendly advice, why won’t you listen? Why do you have to fight with everyone you see?"
Luo Xinyue pulled Yang Linghua away, "Exactly! Look at this, everyone. She really can’t appreciate kindness."
Yang Linghua, getting agitated, pushed Luo Xinyue away and snapped, "Who are you calling ungrateful?"
Luo Xinyue retorted, "You."
All of a sudden, Yang Linghua had a realization, "You—you’re in cahoots with Lu Jingqiu, aren’t you? You’re all bitches."
With that, she went to hit Luo Xinyue.
Xue Jianian quickly hugged Yang Linghua from behind upon seeing this, "Someone, help! She’s hitting people."
Luo Xinyue intentionally let Yang Linghua hit her, feeling a burning slap on her face, "Ah, it hurts. Wuu, she’s attacking me!"
Luo Xinyue cried out loudly in feigned misery, thinking to herself that nobody knew better than her how to pretend to be weak and fragile.
While saying this, she scratched Yang Linghua wildly, actually pinching her on the body.
By now, the bystanders could no longer just watch, and several stepped forward to break up the fight.
Taking advantage of the chaos, Xue Jianian squeezed her way to Xia Lin and Lu Jingqiu and, without hesitation, slapped Xia Lin twice.
"Ah..."
The slaps made Xia Lin cry out, and as Lu Jingqiu was pulling her hair over her eyes, she couldn’t see clearly who had hit her.
Lu Jingqiu also seized the opportunity to kick at the armpit Xia Lin was holding and, given the pain, she immediately let go.
Lu Jingqiu, not caring about her image, pushed Xia Lin to the ground.
Now, some people from the crowd came forward to separate the fighters. Xue Jianian pretended to help break up the fight while actually pinching Xia Lin several times in private areas.
Yang Linghua was more out of control; at this point, she unreasonably started hitting anyone who tried to intervene, striking several onlookers in a row.
Some people grew angry and were about to hit her back when suddenly someone shouted from the crowd, "The police are here!"
The people involved in the fray didn’t want to get themselves into trouble and quickly backed away.
"What’s going on here? What are you all doing?"
Lu Jingqiu hadn’t expected the situation to attract the police but decided to tell her story first. She straightened her disheveled hair, "Officer, I want to report that these two instigated the assault, conspiring in a mob to harm me, and I caught them in the act."
Upon hearing this, Xia Lin knew things did not bode well for her and hurriedly said, "Officer, I didn’t do anything. It was Lu Jingqiu who hit Yang Linghua first. I was just having a talk with my classmate, and she attacked me."
Yang Linghua, with her face swollen and in disgrace, also sobbed her complaint, "Officer, it was Lu Jingqiu who started the fight against me. And these two, they’re her accomplices."
Luo Xinyue, feeling wronged, covered her face and said, "Officers, we were the last to come, just trying to break up the fight, but this woman, without any regard for who’s at fault, just started hitting people. I was just kindly trying to intervene, and for what? I want to press charges against her for assault."
Xue Jianian added, "That’s right, we were just trying to help, and she turned on us and started attacking. And these two people, they’re in cahoots to harm others, this is no small matter. Everyone agrees, right?"
Stirred up by Xue Jianian’s words, some of the onlookers nodded in agreement.
The policeman could see that this was just a group of women fighting, each one talking over the other. He, a grown man, found it quite a spectacle.
The two younger officers behind him looked to their own captain, wondering what to do.
The captain, frowning at the disheveled state of the women, waved his hand, "Everyone come back to the station with us and explain what happened."
Yang Linghua, hearing that she had to go to the police station, panicked and protested as she stepped back, "I’m not going, I didn’t hit anyone, she was the one who hit me first. If you’re going to arrest someone, you should arrest her first."
The captain spoke in a cold, uncompromising tone, "It doesn’t matter who hit who first, everyone needs to come to the station and explain things clearly. Follow along now, I see you all have bicycles; ride them and keep up. If I find anyone trying to run away, it won’t be as simple as a trip to the police station."
At these words, Yang Linghua trembled with fear once more.
Seeing this, Xia Lin regretted overestimating Yang Linghua’s abilities; with such little courage, she dared to confront Lu Jingqiu...
Why had she spoken those words earlier? Jealousy had clouded her judgment.
Lu Jingqiu glanced at Xia Lin’s expression and snorted to herself.
She gracefully picked up her bicycle and approached Xue Jianian and Luo Xinyue, saying, "Sorry for dragging you into this."
Xue Jianian nudged her with her body and whispered, "Don’t say that, I did it willingly." She then made eye contact with Lu Jingqiu, signaling that she had done it on purpose, that she had been wanting to hit Xia Lin for a long time but never had the chance. She wouldn’t have missed such a good opportunity today.
Luo Xinyue whispered back with a smile, "Jingqiu, you don’t need to worry about us."
Lu Jingqiu looked at her face with concern, "Does your face hurt much?"
"Don’t worry, it was just a light touch. I did it on purpose. It was really thrilling just now; it’s been a long time since I’ve been in a fight like that."
Xue Jianian rolled her eyes at her helplessly, thinking this princess was truly spoiled; she would even rush into a situation like this.
Luo Xinyue’s bike was at Xue Family’s home, "Captain, our bikes are in the courtyard. We’ll go get them; we promise not to run."
The captain signaled one of the younger officers to follow the two to fetch their bicycles.
They hadn’t come by car but on bicycles, and since these people also had bicycles, there was no need to walk, which would save some time.
The captain then asked the people around who had witnessed what happened to make a statement then and there.
Once the statements were taken, he took the group back to the police station.
The officers at the station were astonished to see the Second Team Captain bringing back four women, all with disheveled hair from fighting.
Tsk tsk, there had been plenty of young men fighting recently, but women, especially a group of them? And they looked so young. It was the first fight involving women this year, and it looked like a brawl.
The First Team Captain chuckled and asked, "What happened here? They all look so young; they couldn’t be educated youths who returned to the city, could they?"
Second Team Captain laughed, "This might just drop your jaw; listen up, all five of them are university students."
"...University students?"
As the two captains talked, some of the other officers, who seemed not to eavesdrop, edged closer.
They were deterred by a glance from the Second Team Captain.
He turned to the five people and said directly, "You five, record your statements separately. Once we’ve taken your statements, we’ll inform your families."
