Chapter 730: Chapter 720 Almost Done (2)_2

"Xiao Muli, why are you still pretending? Wasn’t all of this orchestrated by you?" This question from Xiao Muli, however, made Gu Yong think that Xiao Muli was denying his own scheme.

"Gu Yong, what you’re saying is quite amusing. When have I, Xiao Muli, ever been afraid to admit to my deeds? Let me tell you, everything that’s happened to Gu Family Company was indeed my doing. What can you possibly do about it?" Xiao Muli spoke the truth; even if he had deliberately sabotaged the Gu Family Company’s stocks, what could the Gu Family do to him? Not only could the Gu Family not touch him, but also none of those from other aristocratic families who knew of Xiao Muli’s involvement would dare to act against him.

Realizing this, Gu Yong’s expression became notably strained. Suddenly, he understood that ever since he had encountered the Xiao Family, his mind hadn’t been working properly. He brought his sister Gu Lili this time not to seek justice from Xiao Muli, but rather to plead for mercy and admit their wrongs.

In hopes that Xiao Muli would spare the Gu Family, granting them a lifeline. But now, things had gotten even worse because of his actions.

Xiao Muli watched the constantly changing expressions on Gu Yong’s face and snorted coldly, scanning the people in the room before speaking, "However, this matter with the Gu Family wasn’t my doing. Honestly, I was planning to make a move, but I haven’t had the chance to act yet."

"Then who did it?" Eldest Master Xiao had sensed something wrong with the situation regarding the Gu Family from the start, but seeing Xiao Muli not denying it, he hadn’t spoken up. Now that Xiao Muli was talking about the issue, he couldn’t help but ask.

"I can’t say who specifically did it." The Dark Division was a name that perhaps even Eldest Master Xiao had heard of, but the secrecy of the Dark Division was widely known. Even fewer knew who the Dark Division Leader was. "However, the person who did it is related to my baby."

"Could it be those people from yesterday?" Fourth Elder Master Xiao suddenly said.

But Xiao Muli just smiled and did not answer any further. Was it or wasn’t it? Such a profound question they would have to guess for themselves.

"Patriarch Xiao, can we meet the young lady from yesterday? My sister and I came here today to apologize to her," Gu Yong finally regained his clarity, pulling along Gu Lili, who had been staring at Xiao Muli with a look of terror since he had entered, and spoke with sincerity.

However, Gu Lili was far from cooperative. The more her brother pulled her, the more she tried to retreat. By now, any affection she might have had for Xiao Muli was gone; seeing him only made her want to run away.

Xiao Muli looked at Gu Lili, who kept hiding behind her brother, with a disdainful glance in his eyes, but it was fleeting, and the next moment, Xiao Muli was back to his usual demeanor, so quickly that no one else noticed. "There’s no need for apologies. I don’t want to risk you causing more trouble for me. I can’t afford to lose my baby, so I won’t take the risk of having you in her presence, dredging up the past," Xiao Muli said, his words not truly reflecting his thoughts. He simply didn’t want this trivial matter to disturb his darling.

At that moment, the very Situ Xin who preoccupied Xiao Muli’s thoughts, who just a second before had been enjoying a meal with Baibai, had her phone ring. Looking at it, she was surprised to see a call from home.

Situ Xin began to answer the call, puzzled at why her family would call her at this hour. Could something have happened at home? At the thought, her heart rose, and the hand holding her chopsticks put them down.

Her family was always Situ Xin’s unchangeable weakness. Yet, it was this very family that made Situ Xin’s icy blood warm.

"Hello," Situ Xin began, but immediately there was a tussle over the phone on the other side.

"Hey, Situ, don’t grab at it; I’ll ask my questions and then pass it to you."

"I’m saying, Old Lu, I’ll ask first; you can follow."

The two grandfathers hadn’t decided who would speak to Situ Xin first when the call connected.

"You two should just stand aside; we’ll ask. We don’t want your booming voices frightening our baby."

"Right, right, you two go stand aside. We’ll let you know the results after we ask," chimed in Old Madam Situ. However, she quickly realized that the call had already connected: "Oh, the phone is already through."

Old Madam Situ’s remark brought complete silence on the other end of the line. Listening to her grandparents quarreling loudly, Situ Xin’s heart eased, knowing it wasn’t anything serious at home. To her, nothing else was a concern.

"Baby, did you have breakfast yet?" Old Madam Loo’s voice, full of concern, came through the phone, softening Situ Xin’s expression. Baibai, seeing Situ Xin’s mood, confidently lowered its head to resume savoring its delicious breakfast.

"I’ve eaten. Grandma, what’s the urgent matter with calling me so early?" Situ Xin asked, still somewhat anxious.

"Oh, it’s nothing serious. We just heard a bit of news from Grandpa Xiao and wanted to call to see if something really happened," Old Madam Loo, prompted by her husband, inquired.

Having rested the entire night, Situ Xin had pushed last night’s events to the back of her mind, so when her grandmother mentioned them, she was perplexed. "What matter, Grandma? Tell me."
