Chapter 716: Chapter 710 No Misunderstanding (2)_1

Baibai, having heard Xiao Muli’s words, was touched by his devoted love, but still responded with a sharp tongue, "Such a smooth-talker."

Xiao Muli’s confession moved many of the young people present, who were more innocent than the cunning veterans of the business and political worlds. They were still at an age where they yearned for and believed in love.

However, those with less pure intentions felt their hearts sink after hearing Xiao Muli’s words. The faces of these three individuals darkened considerably. They had harbored the hope that Xiao Muli’s female companion might be someone he’d brought along at the last minute upon learning of their schemes, or perhaps Xiao Muli’s interest in this newly emerged woman was just a fleeting fancy that would soon perish once the novelty wore off. This would give them their chance.

But now, the earnestness in Xiao Muli’s speech made it abundantly clear: the girl standing next to him was not someone found at random, nor was she a passing whim, but rather the subject of Xiao Muli’s admiration.

"Hey, Patriarch Xiao has truly been bewitched by that vixen. He doesn’t seem to realize that not just any woman is worthy of his status. Not just anyone can become the Madam of the Xiao Family," grumbled Madam Mao, visibly displeased by Xiao Muli’s words. Taking her daughter by the hand, she headed toward Xiao Muli.

Madam Mao continued to mutter under her breath. "Mom, stop it. That girl is not someone our family should provoke," Miss Mao interjected, usually not interfering with her mother’s prattle. But upon seeing Situ Xin face to face, surprise took over her, and she hurried to stop her mother.

"What’s wrong? You know this girl?" Madam Mao, halted by her daughter’s comment, stopped muttering and asked.

"Yes, I know her. She goes to my school. Her name is Situ Xin, and she’s quite famous there. She has a very powerful background. Anyone at our school who has crossed her has either been expelled or had their family go bankrupt. It always ends badly. Even our headmaster is extremely polite to her. Mom, you should call dad over, we need to drop the plan we had before, otherwise we won’t even know how our Mao Family vanished," Miss Mao said, furrowing her brows as she recalled her father’s words before they arrived, advising her mother.

"Are you sure about what you’re saying?" Madam Mao asked in disbelief. "Could you have mistaken her for someone else?"

"With a face like Situ Xin’s, do you think I could mistake her, Mom?" Miss Mao retorted.

"No wonder. No wonder your father couldn’t find any information on this Situ Xin despite asking around last night. So that’s how it is," Madam Mao concluded, weighing the importance of this matter. "I need to bring your father over right now. We can’t let him get involved further." With that, she hurriedly walked over to her husband, Patriarch Mao.

As Madam Mao approached, Patriarch Mao was about to say something but was promptly pulled aside by his wife who had rushed over. "Don’t say anything," Madam Mao whispered urgently before speaking up louder, "There’s something your daughter needs you for, come with me first." After apologizing to the others, she led Patriarch Mao toward the direction of their daughter.

On the way, Patriarch Mao grumbled at his wife’s anxious behavior, asking if she didn’t see he was busy. However, Madam Mao ignored his complaints and focused on pulling him away from the place of trouble.

Patriarch Mao’s departure had little effect on Xiao Muli and his company.

Although Patriarch Gu’s heart sank upon hearing Xiao Muli’s words, a sliver of hope remained, stemming from his most cherished younger daughter.

Just as Patriarch Gu was wondering why his beloved daughter had not yet arrived, a voice he considered heavenly called out, "Dad, Brother Muli, what are you all gathering around here for?"

Patriarch Gu, hearing his daughter’s voice, immediately broke into a wide smile: "Lili is here. Come here to your dad,"
