Chapter 684: Chapter 684: The Blind Date is Underway (6)_1
"You really guessed it. Come on, let’s go to the office and I’ll show you the photos, I guarantee you’ll be satisfied." Saying that, Situ Xin headed straight to Xia Yujie’s office.
Following behind, Xia Yujie just let his head hang down.
As soon as they arrived at Xia Yujie’s office, Situ Xin excitedly thrust the photo she was holding into Xia Yujie’s hands. She said, "Ah Jie, take a look, this is the person I’ve selected for you. What do you think? Not bad, right? She’s attractive and has a nice figure. And what I’m most satisfied with is her background and her martial arts skills."
While Situ Xin spoke with joy and excitement, Xia Yujie, holding the photo Situ Xin had given him, felt like he was handling a hot potato. He couldn’t throw it away, yet he didn’t want to keep it either.
Situ Xin didn’t notice Xia Yujie’s dilemma. She continued enthusiastically, "Let me tell you, this girl, she’s got a good background. She’s a fifth-dan black belt in Taekwondo. Of course, she can’t compare to you, but in this society, her skills are considered very good. Oh, and she’s an orphan, so there won’t be any of those family factors between you two. As long as the two of you hit it off, that would seal the deal." Situ Xin thought the girl’s orphan status was a good thing because, after all, Xia Yujie was involved with the Underworld. Most parents wouldn’t agree to their daughter being with an Underworld leader. Even if this Underworld leader was outstanding in many ways and had a completely different style of doing things from other leaders. "Oh right, I haven’t told you what she does. She’s a nurse. She works at the city hospital." Situ Xin had no idea where her family’s Female Warrior Group found all these girls’ photos and profiles. She had a general look and saw there were girls from all kinds of backgrounds and with all kinds of family histories. "What do you think? Not bad, right?"
Xia Yujie looked at the expression on Situ Xin’s face that said, if you dare not like it, just see how I’ll deal with you. His heart was filled with conflict. He didn’t know whether to answer according to Situ Xin’s wishes or to respond based on his actual feelings.
After weighing his words, Xia Yujie finally spoke, "Miss, this person is not bad."
"Right? Right? I told you my judgment was sound," Situ Xin said, her smile blooming on her face upon hearing Xia Yujie’s words.
"But," Xia Yujie looked at the smile on Situ Xin’s face, closed his eyes, and mustered his courage to say, "But, Miss, I really don’t want to get married right now."
"Don’t want to get married? How old are you and you still don’t want to? Alright, since you said she’s not bad, then it’s settled. I’ve already arranged it with the other party. Tomorrow, tomorrow at six in the evening, you’ll meet at Left Bank Café."
"What? Miss, you’ve already arranged it? I—" Xia Yujie was taken aback when he heard Situ Xin say the arrangement had been made.
"What are you hesitating for, it’s decided. And let me tell you, don’t stand her up tomorrow. I’ll be there too." Situ Xin’s words crushed the little hope Xia Yujie had harbored. He had thought about not showing up tomorrow. Afterwards, he could just tell Situ Xin that he thought they weren’t suited for each other and that would be that.
But Situ Xin had brutally cut off his train of thought as soon as it formed. "Alright, I’ve said what I came to say, so I’ll get going now. Remember, tomorrow at six, Left Bank Café," Situ Xin reminded him as she reached the door of Xia Yujie’s office. After speaking, she remembered that Ah Xiang had gone back for a blind date. "Oh, by the way, how did it go with Ah Xiang’s blind date?"
Xia Yujie shook his head and replied, "I don’t know; Ah Xiang hasn’t called for the last couple of days. And because Ah Xiang isn’t here, I’ve had a lot more work to do, so I haven’t had the chance to call and check on him." Hearing Situ Xin mention Liu Yuxiang, Xia Yujie also became curious about the outcome of Liu Yuxiang’s blind date. "Should I call to find out now?" Xia Yujie asked for Situ Xin’s opinion.
"No need, let’s wait for Ah Xiang to come back. I need to go find my two brothers. See you tomorrow afternoon." Situ Xin left Xia Yujie’s office and walked out, leaving him alone with his troubles.
Situ Che and Loo Jie arrived at their usual private room and pushed the door open to find Lan Junxi and Ruan Yanbing already sitting on the sofa, drinking, with several bottles of liquor on the coffee table.
When Situ Che and Loo Jie saw the two men in such high spirits, they assumed they wouldn’t stop drinking until they were thoroughly drunk. However, seeing their eagerness, Situ Che and Loo Jie were certain the two must have some troubles on their minds. And they could guess that nothing but romance woes would bring Ruan Yanbing and Lan Junxi to drown their sorrows so deeply together.
"Hey, you two take it easy, okay?" Loo Jie advised them, noting their hearty drinking attitudes.
"Ah Jie, Ah Che, you’re here. Take a seat, join us," Ruan Yanbing looked up and saw Situ Che and Loo Jie standing at the door of the private room, quickly inviting them to come in and drink.
"What’s all this today? You can’t just drink away your problems like that," Loo Jie didn’t join in with the drinking right away. Instead, he went over, took the glasses out of their hands, and sat down on the sofa.
After Loo Jie sat down, Situ Che also sat next to him, "Come on, what’s the matter with you two today?"
"Just look at them, what else could it be? It’s about women," Loo Jie said, visibly disappointed with his old friends’ dejected states. "I have to say, Yanbing, I really can’t understand what’s going on with you and your wife. In the beginning, you defied your family for her, but now, even though you both finally ended up together, how did it come to this?" Loo Jie could make sense of Lan Junxi’s sulking, at least.
"Heheh, Ah Jie, you have no idea. I never knew a person could change so much. I don’t even recognise her anymore; she’s no longer the woman I fell in love with. Trust is the most important thing between husband and wife, but she doubts me constantly. Even when I explain myself to her, she might appear to believe me on the surface, but in reality, she’s tracking me and checking my phone. Honestly, I’ve reached the point where I don’t want to go home because I fear we’ll just end up fighting again." Ruan Yanbing didn’t hold back in front of his brothers, spilling all the grievances he had kept to himself. "Ah Che, Ah Jie, I’m starting to question whether my persistence back then was mistaken,"
