Chapter 679: Chapter 679: The Blind Date is Underway (1)_1

"We’re not that old, and in our unit, there are plenty of guys our age who don’t have partners either." Loo Jie, seeing his mother infuriated by his argument, felt a twinge of guilt, but the thought of retreating meant facing blind dates, so, to successfully navigate through this challenge, he had to toughen up and argue.

Huang Xia was amused by her son’s attitude, "Listen to what this kid is saying. What kind of place do you think your military unit is? Apart from men, there’re hardly any women to be seen. Why don’t you look at the families in our compound? That Ruan Family boy who grew up with you has already started a family and has a child. Now look at you two, not even a girlfriend in sight."

"Exactly, Ah Jie, it’s not just the boy from the Ruan Family, but also the one from the Lan Family is getting married this year," Old Madam Loo added her opinion. What she didn’t mention was that though these two families seemed cheerful, she knew things weren’t as serene as they appeared just from hearing things from the old madams of the Ruan and Lan Families. Oh, every family has its own issues to deal with.

As for Lan Junxi and Ruan Yanbing’s situations, even if Old Madam Loo didn’t speak of it, Situ Che and Loo Jie were well aware, as neither Lan Junxi nor Ruan Yanbing had complained in front of the two of them. Ruan Yanbing eloped with his wife, defying his family’s objections, and decided to get married. Initially, the couple got along well, at least they were in love with each other, which was why they got married.

But after just a month, conflicts between the couple were nonstop, highlighting the so-called mismatch in social status.

Lan Junxi’s case was simpler; it was an arranged marriage. So, love and all that didn’t even need to be discussed.

"Hey, Ah Che, you say something too," as Loo Jie saw himself losing the argument, he nudged Situ Che’s arm, prompting him to hurry up and say something.

"Loo Jie, that’s enough from you. Keep it down. No matter what excuse you come up with, it won’t work. You’re going on that blind date tomorrow," declared Huang Xia, making the decision final.

Loo Jie couldn’t protest any further, despite wanting to; his mouth opened but no words came out. He realized that no matter what he said, it was futile; he couldn’t escape the blind date this time.

As for Situ Che, he had been silent the whole time, precisely because he understood this.

Once the patriarch had spoken, the conclusion of this matter was set in stone.

No matter the excuses Situ Che and Loo Jie tried to come up with, they couldn’t avoid the blind dates. The next day, they were escorted by their respective mothers to the coffee shop for the arranged meetings. Situ Xin was also in tow, not of her own volition, but because her grand aunt and great-aunt had requested her presence.

Before leaving, Situ Xin had intended to throw Baibai into a space, but Baibai insisted on coming along, so she ended up holding Baibai and going together.

Situ Xin was just as curious about the blind date as Baibai. It had been excited ever since it heard Situ Che and Loo Jie were going on blind dates the previous night.

The venue for Situ Che’s and Loo Jie’s blind dates was the same—just at different tables, one at the far east and the other at the far west side.

Situ Xin found a seat in the middle to settle down.

Her grand aunt and great-aunt had wanted Situ Xin to sit with them, but since she couldn’t split herself into two, they ultimately found a compromise. Situ Xin also planned to take the opportunity to learn about the blind date process, so she wouldn’t be clueless when Xia Yujie’s time came around to go on blind dates.

Furthermore, she was considering helping Situ Muli with his personal matters after resolving Xia Yujie’s issues. At one point, Situ Xin even felt she was heading towards becoming a matchmaker.

Situ Xin and company intentionally arrived earlier than the agreed time, so when they got there, the girls hadn’t arrived yet.

As for the dating scenario, Loo Jie was visibly reluctant and still holding on to hope, making one last effort to convince his mother, "Mom, let’s just forget it. I really don’t think this blind date’s reliable. How about this: when I go back, I’ll actively look for a partner and promise to bring you a daughter-in-law in no time."

Situ Xin, seeing her Brother Jie’s dispirited face, laughed unethically, "Oh Brother Jie, it’s too late for anything you say, we’re already here. Look, even Brother Che isn’t saying a thing now."

After hearing Situ Xin’s words and glancing at Situ Che, Loo Jie said with a grimace, "As if you don’t know, your Brother Che only talks more around you. At other times, you can’t beat a word out of him. If he was like me, the sun would be rising from the west."

"It’s just you who talks too much. Hurry up and take a seat there properly. The girl will be here any minute now," said Huang Xia as she dragged Loo Jie to the reserved seats.

"Then Baby, you sit here. Order whatever you want to eat. Your great-aunt and your Brother Che are going to sit over there," after seeing Huang Xia and Loo Jie seated, Liu Qian checked the time and realizing it was getting late, she gave Situ Xin a few instructions.

"Great-aunt, don’t worry, Baby isn’t shy about that. It’s getting late, you and Brother Che should go and get ready too. They’ll be here soon," replied Situ Xin with a smile, despite having no interest in any of the food or drinks outside.

"Alright," said Liu Qian, then she turned to Situ Che and suggested, "Ah Che, let’s go take our seats too, shall we?"

Situ Che indeed cooperated, not grumbling or showing reluctance like Loo Jie. However, his face was expressionless, almost submissive, as he followed Liu Qian to the reserved seat.

The prospective dates for Situ Che and Loo Jie had been selected from a pile of photos, with both families agreeing on two girls who seemed suitable—one lively and the other more demure. The livelier was intended for Xiao Muli, while the quieter was for Loo Jie, as a complement to their personalities.
