Chapter 659: Chapter 659 Eve of the Arms Deal (2)_1
Situ Xin, riding on Baibai’s back, keenly spotted a convoy of three cars driving towards the gate of the Xiao Family Ammunitions Base. Although Situ Xin couldn’t see who was sitting inside the cars, she was quite certain when she said to Baibai, "Baibai, follow that convoy. Muli should be in one of those cars."
"Got it." Baibai obediently turned its tiger head and, in the sky, followed Xiao Muli’s convoy.
Xiao Muli was completely unaware that he was being tracked, and the person following him was none other than the one he longed for, the one he had been conflicted about all night and hadn’t managed to call—his beloved.
The convoy slowly made its way to the trading dock. Inside one of the cars, Xiao Muli was busy getting the latest news from Che, who was in the same car as him.
Their hidden forces kept a constant watch on the armory where their munitions were stored and split into two groups: one did everything possible to monitor any movement there, and the other was tasked with identifying any traitor suspects among Xiao Muli’s overt personnel. If they spotted any suspicions, they would immediately put that person under surveillance.
Relief washed over Situ Xin and Baibai once they found Xiao Muli. Of course, this relaxation was relative. Situ Xin, sitting on Baibai’s back, in the air, remained vigilant to the activities surrounding Xiao Muli’s convoy.
Now, any cats and dogs that showed up around Xiao Muli, Situ Xin knew them all too well.
As for Baibai, it truly relaxed. Before, it was hurrying along, but now it seemed to be taking a leisurely stroll, as the speed of Xiao Muli’s convoy was just too slow compared to the pace of a Divine Beast.
The convoy arrived safely at the location for the arms transaction. Xiao Muli had known all along that the other party wouldn’t dare to strike en route, as they simply didn’t have the capability. Instead, the trading spot was where they might have a chance to make a move.
"Xuan, when the other party arrives later, remember to protect their safety. If anything happens to the party we’re trading with, it wouldn’t bode well for the Xiao Family’s Ammunition Empire," Xiao Muli casually said, sending both Xuan and Che into a shiver. They had overlooked this aspect—if anything happened to the Xiao Family’s clients, their reputation in the arms trading circles would plummet.
"Master, the convoy has stopped, and Xiao Muli is getting out of the car," Baibai reported immediately what it saw happening on the ground to its owner, Situ Xin.
Situ Xin took out a bunch of grapes from her space, plucked one, and stuffed it into Baibai’s mouth, replying, "I know, I have seen everything." Her Divine Sense was enveloping Xiao Muli’s surroundings; once Situ Xin acknowledged Xiao Muli’s place in her heart, she became even more concerned about his safety.
Situ Xin sat on Baibai’s back, watching everything unfold on the ground. Although she followed her initial instinct and rushed over, she had no intention of revealing herself and intervening in the matter unless Xiao Muli was in danger.
Situ Xin was ready to watch the arms deal and then return home with Baibai after it was complete.
Below, Xiao Muli had no idea that every move he made was being watched, not by just one party.
"Hey, master, master, did you see that? It looks like Xiao Muli is surrounded, and someone is continuously monitoring his every move," Baibai asked right after swallowing the grape in its mouth, without having the time to savor its taste.
"I have noticed it; I was aware of it a long time ago," Situ Xin calmly continued eating her grapes.
"Then master, won’t you lend Xiao Muli a hand by dealing with those people over there? Or at least tell him to watch his back, so he doesn’t get blindsided." Ever since Baibai realized that its owner had set her sights on Xiao Muli, it knew they were well-suited, but still, it wasn’t very fond of someone who might steal its master away. At least, it planned to find an opportunity to get back at Xiao Muli to feel more at ease.
"No need. Haven’t you noticed the people hiding behind them? I think those few people must be Muli’s subordinates," Situ Xin carefully investigated the situation around her, making everything clear.
"No wonder you’re so at ease, master," Baibai didn’t expect it had worried for Xiao Muli for nothing.
"Master, they’ve arrived," Che whispered as he walked over and leaned close to Xiao Muli.
"Okay, let’s go over. I want everyone to focus. I don’t want to see any surprises later on," Xiao Muli straightened his suit, his face showing no emotion, he didn’t even glance at Che as he instructed.
"Yes, Family Head," Che responded, then through his wireless earpiece, he conveyed Xiao Muli’s instructions to the rest.
Xuan, having received the news, walked over to Xiao Muli with a frown, looking around warily, and whispered, "Family Head, they’ve shown up. They’re all hiding around the docks. The exact number isn’t clear, but this time the mastermind behind them has appeared, just as you predicted—it’s him."
Upon seeing the information from his subordinates, Xuan felt a small jolt of surprise, thinking that their Family Head had accurately guessed the identity of the schemer without any prior info.
"Oh? Is that so?" Although Xiao Muli had anticipated it would be him, he didn’t expect that the mastermind would personally show up. Xiao Muli thought to himself, "It looks like he can no longer wait and is eager to take over the Xiao Family’s Ammunition Empire." However, as much as he might think this, if someone really wanted to take over the Ammunition Empire, they would have to see if he, Xiao Muli, would allow it.
"Yes, Family Head. My men relayed that Master Qiang has a young man by his side, and it seems that Master Qiang is very respectful towards him, so they concluded that this young man is the main conspirator. They sent a photo, it’s a snapshot and not very clear, but it’s confirmed to be Xiao Qing," Xuan said as he handed the secretly taken photograph to Xiao Muli.
