"ICU."
The pressure they felt was immense, so Gao Yong intentionally had Situ Xin transferred to the ICU. This way, they could work with much fewer ears around them, and under less pressure, their performance could improve significantly. But more importantly, Gao Yong was also considering Situ Xin’s welfare.
They had conducted so many tests on Situ Xin but were unable to identify the cause. Furthermore, based on the information they gathered from Situ Xin’s family, Situ Xin had developed the fever suddenly. So, they were speculating whether Situ Xin had contracted some new type of virus.
Otherwise, despite all the medications they’d used and the methods they’d tried, not a single one had succeeded in lowering Situ Xin’s temperature.
"ICU?" Hearing that Situ Xin had been admitted to the ICU, Xiao Muli could no longer remain composed. The look of anxiety immediately appeared on his face. He didn’t wait for Old Master Xiao to answer and rushed straight for the door.
Although Xiao Muli’s body had recovered a lot, he was still somewhat slower than an average person. Yet, he hastened towards the ICU at the fastest speed he could endure.
When Xiao Muli arrived at the entrance of the ICU, the area outside was filled with members of the Situ and Loo families. With just a brief glance, Muli knew that, aside from Situ Jin who had recently returned to the military academy, everyone else was present.
Seeing such a turnout weighed heavily on Xiao Muli’s heart. He knew that unless Situ Xin’s illness was genuinely critical, there would not be such a complete gathering, with even the incredibly busy Loo Jianguo and Situ Haoran setting aside their important duties to be there.
The entire focus of both the Situ and Loo families was on Situ Xin, who was currently lying unconscious in the ICU, and they had not even noticed Xiao Muli’s arrival.
Xiao Muli noticed that Grandpa Loo’s expression was much calmer than Old Master Situ’s. He approached Grandpa Loo and asked, "Grandpa Loo, how is Xiao Xin doing?"
Grandpa Loo shifted his attention from Situ Xin to Xiao Muli. He was not at all surprised to see Xiao Muli; knowing that Old Master Xiao had just left, it was clear he must have gone to visit his grandson. Muli must have learned about the situation from his grandfather.
"Baby is still running a high fever. The doctors are currently trying to find a solution," Grandpa Loo spoke calmly, but who knew how desperately anxious he felt inside, as if his heart were being scorched by fire.
Grandpa Loo had just heard from the team of doctors that if they couldn’t reduce Baby’s fever soon, her life would be at serious risk. The moment he received this news, he felt as if he’d been struck by lightning and was left dumbfounded. He couldn’t bear to think about, much less accept, what would happen if Baby were to pass away. What would the two families do?
He had wanted to grab the doctor’s shoulder and demand fiercely, like Old Master Situ had, for the medical team to save his precious grandchild, but he knew that no matter how hard he gripped their clothes or shouted, they still hadn’t come up with any way to save his Baby.
"Have they found the cause of Baby’s fever?" Xiao Muli, deeply worried for Situ Xin, was completely unaware of how he was addressing her. Fortunately for him, the surrounding people, including Grandpa Loo, were so focused on Situ Xin that nobody noticed the issue with Muli’s reference to her.
"We can’t find it. The doctors suspect it might be caused by some new type of virus. They are still investigating," Grandpa Loo said, his hope feeling extremely faint.
"What do you mean you can’t find it, still investigating? What are these doctors even good for? After so much time, they haven’t identified the cause of the illness; what are they still doing in this hospital?" Xiao Muli’s eyes had already looked through the ICU’s glass window and settled on Situ Xin, who was lying on the hospital bed with an abnormal flush on her face, her eyes tightly shut, and her small face creased in discomfort. The pain in Muli’s heart was as if someone had cruelly twisted it.
Xiao Muli was not one to have a temper, but seeing his beloved suffering like this, and in such grave danger, he could not stay calm. It was only his rationality that kept him from rushing in and savagely beating up the group of doctors, whom he viewed as utterly useless.
The doctors, who had been at their wit’s end on the sidelines but could not leave, saw another irate family member appear. Their already frightened hearts gave another feeble shudder.
"I have to go in and be with Baby," declared Xiao Muli, feeling an unbearable ache as he watched Situ Xin’s slightly furrowed brows. He then made to rush into the ICU.
However, not just anyone could enter the ICU. A doctor, seeing Xiao Muli attempting to proceed without taking any precautions, hurriedly intervened: "I’m sorry, but the ICU is not open for just anyone to enter."
The doctor eyed the hospital gown on Xiao Muli, only gesturing to stop him but not daring to really get in the way. He was uncertain about why Muli was hospitalized, and if he accidentally harmed a patient, he could not shirk responsibility.
Fortunately, the doctor had the foresight not to physically block Xiao Muli. Although Muli’s wounds were healing nicely, an excessive force could potentially cause the stitches to burst open.
"Move aside, I’m going in." Xiao Muli released his aura, causing everyone nearby to feel the temperature suddenly drop, forcing those of weaker fortitude to shiver uncontrollably.
