In anticipation, Situ Xin and the others looked on as the lead kidnapper shook his head: "We never saw what he looked like. However, we know he’s not tall. Only about 1.7 meters, and a bit on the chubby side."

"Anything else? Didn’t he show up again later?" Wu Qing urgently wanted to know more, getting ahead of Situ Xin, he asked.

"He only showed up once; after that, he just called. The phone number was restricted. So, I don’t know his number." Now, the leader of the kidnappers was filled with extreme regret. How had he been so obsessed as to fall for that masked man’s trick? But what was the use of regretting now that the deed had been done? After several days of interrogation, he didn’t know what kind of outcome awaited them.

Situ Xin and the others hadn’t seen the expression on the face of the lead kidnapper; they were occupied with the information they’d just heard from him. Situ Xin turned to look at Wu Qing and said, "Wu Qing, leave this matter to you. Find me that restricted number as quickly as possible."

"Yes, Leader, I guarantee I’ll complete the mission." This restricted number would be difficult for the average citizen to trace back to the real number, but for Situ Xin, for the people of The Dark Division, it was a simple task.

Wu Qing was fast. Not long after Situ Xin arrived at The Dark Division’s office, he knocked on the door of Situ Xin’s office, investigation results in hand.

For Wu Qing, this investigation was a breeze, hardly requiring any effort at all.

"Leader, these are the results I’ve found; have a look." Wu Qing handed over the information he’d gathered to Situ Xin.

The report detailed not only the actual number behind the restricted one but also the movements of the person using the number—that is, their location based on the phone’s use. Strangely, the number was a cell phone with no registered user, depriving Situ Xin and her team of another potentially useful clue.

However, this only meant they’d have to exert more effort; they’d still be able to find out what they needed in the end.

Looking at the document, Situ Xin saw that the number frequently appeared around the government compound in Capital City. At the sight of this location, something flashed quickly through Situ Xin’s mind, but it was so fleeting she couldn’t grasp it.

"Wu Qing, take some men with you and catch the person using this number; they are very likely the mastermind behind this kidnapping," Situ Xin put down the papers Wu Qing had passed to her and said.

"Yes, Leader, I understand, and I guarantee I’ll complete the mission," Wu Qing responded.

"Be careful when you’re on the mission and remember not to be negligent. I suspect that the person is surrounded by protectors, who are very likely mercenaries he’s hired," Situ Xin shared her deductions.

Even though Situ Xin hadn’t visited the crime scene, based on her understanding of her brother’s, Xiao Muli’s, and Yu Qihao’s abilities, those who could inflict such a defeat on them were undoubtedly well-trained mercenaries, and there seemed no other possibility.

After leaving The Dark Division, the sky had darkened. Situ Xin called home, and it was her grandfather, Old Master Situ, who answered. From his words, Situ Xin knew that since she had left, Old Master Xiao hadn’t gone back. No matter how much everyone urged him, Old Master Xiao refused to leave the hospital, determined to wait by Xiao Muli’s side until he awoke.

Although Situ Xin knew that Xiao Muli was no longer in a life-threatening condition and would recover with rest, she still felt uneasy. After hanging up the phone with her grandfather Old Master Situ, she had the driver turn the car around and head for the military hospital.

Soon after, Situ Xin thought about how Old Master Xiao likely hadn’t had much to eat since learning of Xiao Muli’s hospitalization, and knowing the hospital food would be hard for him to stomach, she had the driver head back to the compound instead.

After returning home to cook a few dishes herself, she brought the food to the hospital. When Old Master Situ saw his cherished granddaughter had cooked for Old Master Xiao, he frowned with disapproval and kept muttering sarcastic remarks in Situ Xin’s ear.

In the end, he cheered up and stopped complaining only after Situ Xin had also prepared a portion for him and he began to taste the food she had made.

When Situ Xin arrived at the hospital with the food, she thought about Old Master Xiao’s stubbornness, convinced he wouldn’t want to rest as long as Xiao Muli remained unconscious. Concerned that Old Master Xiao might get hungry staying up late, she remembered she had some pastries and the like in her space. After looking around and seeing no one, she quickly took the pastries from her space and placed them in her bag.

Situ Xin’s movements were so fast that even if there were people around, they would not notice what she was doing.

As Situ Xin approached the intensive care unit, she saw Old Master Xiao sitting alone outside the ward. Beside him stood his bodyguard Xiao Fang, holding a fast-food container and saying something to persuade Old Master Xiao.

Aside from Old Master Xiao’s bodyguard Xiao Fang, there was a middle-aged man in a white coat standing there. Even though Situ Xin didn’t recognize the man in the white coat, she knew at a glance that he was the hospital director.

"Grandpa Xiao," Situ Xin approached, disrupting the somber atmosphere that surrounded Old Master Xiao.

"Xiao Xin, child, what brings you here?" Upon seeing Situ Xin, Old Master Xiao’s stern face softened into a smile, and his guardsman breathed a sigh of relief at the sight of his employer’s changed demeanor.

"I’ve come to bring you dinner," Situ Xin said, carrying her bag to where Old Master Xiao was sitting. As she spoke with Old Master Xiao, the doctor in the white coat’s eyes suddenly lit up.

Xiao Fang, learning that Situ Xin was there to bring Old Master Xiao something to eat, looked at Situ Xin with grateful eyes, relieved that he no longer had to figure out how to persuade Old Master Xiao to have dinner.
