Chapter 582: Chapter 582: The Big Gift Sent Out (2)_1

"You’re full of it, still spewing lies with your eyes wide open. Take a good look at these photos in the newspaper, then talk to me," Shan Xue said, feeling triumphant inside, as she was about to successfully persuade Elder Liu. She was also covertly exchanging glances with her son.

Before she could enjoy her moment any longer, Liu Bowen, whom she had never taken seriously, suddenly erupted.

"Dad, the report in the newspaper is fake, the photos must be fake too," Liu Chengtian quickly chimed in.

"Would you get lost! Adults are talking, what are you, a kid, butting in for?" Liu Bowen glared with rage-filled eyes at Liu Chengtian, scaring him into immediately shutting his mouth, having never seen his father so infuriated before.

"Bowen, why are you being so harsh on Chengtian? What Chengtian said isn’t wrong. The report in the newspaper is fake, the photos are fake too," Shan Xue recalled the article in the newspaper she had seen and couldn’t find anything incorrect with it.

"Fake? Haha. Shan Xue, do you really think I’m a fool? The photos published in the newspaper are from the day I saw you leaving the hotel with that man. Remember, when I confronted you about it, what you told me? You said I was mistaken. That you had been in the office all day and your secretary could testify to that. You even got mad at me for questioning you, for not trusting you, and demanded an apology from me. Haha, thinking back now, I really was a fool, a complete fool, believing whatever you said and even asking for your forgiveness," Liu Bowen said, and he actually laughed. It must be laughter borne from extreme anger.

It was only after Liu Bowen brought this up that Shan Xue recalled the incident. She hadn’t expected such a coincidence that the newspaper would publish photos from that day. Shan Xue was a bit panicked. However, Shan Xue was no ordinary person; though panicked inside, she didn’t show the slightest hint of it on her face.

Shan Xue’s mind was racing, thinking of a way to fill this hole in her story.

Before Shan Xue could come up with a way to turn the situation around, three or four people dressed in black suits and wearing sunglasses walked in.

Seeing these mysterious figures appear silently in the living room, the Lius were initially stunned. Recollecting himself, Old Master Liu, seeing the unexpected visitors, asked, "Who are you? Why are you here in the Liu Family’s home?" Fear rose in his heart as these men in black had managed to enter without alerting the Liu Family’s security, appearing silently among them. He thought that if these men meant harm, they would stand no chance at all.

"Who we are is immaterial. We’re simply following our Young Miss’s orders to deliver something to you," the leader among the men in black said as he approached Old Master Liu with a kraft paper bag in hand, offering it to him.

"Who is your Young Miss?" Old Master Liu asked as he took the kraft paper bag handed to him.

"Dragon Society’s Young Miss. Our Young Miss says there’s no need for thanks; this is a present she has sent you." Having said that, the leading man in black turned and walked towards the entrance of the Lius’ home, followed by the others. In the blink of an eye, the men in black vanished from the Liu residence.

Just like their arrival, the men in black left without a trace, not catching the attention of the security outside.

The people of the Liu Family, reeling from the silent appearance and just as silent departure of the men in black, were struggling to grasp what had happened. If not for everyone seeing the kraft paper bag in Old Master Liu’s hands, they might have suspected that they’d just shared a collective hallucination or a daydream.

Old Master Liu’s curiosity was piqued; he wondered why the Dragon Society’s Young Miss would send him something out of the blue. Not to mention, the Lius had no connection with the Dragon Society, let alone its enigmatic Young Miss.

Curious as he was, Old Master Liu deftly opened the kraft paper bag and swiftly scanned the papers inside. His expression darkened immediately.

Seeing Old Master Liu’s face turn grim, Liu Boming and his wife grew intensely curious. What had the Dragon Society’s Young Miss sent that could change the patriarch’s expression so drastically in an instant?

Yet, curious as they were, neither said a word. They patiently stood by, invisible, waiting for Old Master Liu to reveal the answer.

"Well, well, to think we in the Liu Family would be made such fools of, haha. Shan Xue, the Shan Family has done well, playing us in the palm of your hands like jesters," Old Master Liu said, his gaze towards Shan Xue sending a chill down her spine from the inside out.

Her sense of foreboding grew stronger, yet completely unaware of the specifics, she didn’t know what to say.

"Dad, let me see those," Liu Bowen, although having no idea what was written on the papers, was sure that they had something to do with him and Shan Xue.

"It’s your own business, take a look for yourself," Old Master Liu handed the papers to Liu Bowen, then sank into the couch as if he had suddenly aged several years, causing Liu Boming to feel a pang of sorrow.

Liu Boming wanted to comfort his father but barely took a step before his wife pulled him back. She shook her head at him, signaling that now was not the time.

Liu Bowen, taking the papers from his father’s hands, staggered, as if he were about to topple over the next moment.

His eyes left the papers and he looked up, his face in disbelief as he glanced at Shan Xue, then at Liu Chengtian, Liu Xinyu, and let out a laugh. "Haha, who would have thought, who would have thought that I, Liu Bowen, would be adorned with such glaringly green cuckold’s horns," he said, suddenly stopping his laughter, as his eyes focused intently on Shan Xue. Shan Xue, feeling guilty under his gaze, averted her eyes.
