Chapter 579: Chapter 579 Retribution (1)_1
Old Master Shan picked up the phone.
"Hello,"
Just as Old Master Shan began to speak, an anxious voice from Shan Xue came through the phone, "Dad, where are you? Weren’t you supposed to come to the company? Why haven’t you arrived yet? All the shareholders are waiting for you at the company. Dad, what do we do? The company’s stock has already hit the limit down."
"Ahem." Old Master Shan was alarmed when he heard that the company’s stock had hit the limit down. He had not expected the opponent to move so swiftly and achieve such a result in such a short time. "I know, I’ll be there soon. By the way, have you checked if the Situ Family was behind this?"
"I checked, it doesn’t seem like the Situ Family was involved. But I can’t figure out who did it." For years, Shan Xue had been assisting Old Master Shan with the company affairs because her big brother was a profligate who didn’t take care of anything. Yet, it was he who enjoyed all of the Shan Family’s wealth, while she, a daughter of the Shan’s, was left without anything.
Originally, Shan Xue had not wanted to come to Shan’s and help her father with the business, such a thankless job, but after marrying into the Liu Family, her attempts to interfere in the Liu Family’s company were met with a stern rebuke from Old Master Liu, who forbade her from meddling with the Liu Family’s assets.
She did not want to just stay at home, doing nothing, as a young mistress, and live her days watching her in-laws’ faces. It was for her own capabilities that she chose to work at Shan’s.
"Can’t find out, huh. I’ll handle it when I get back to the company. By the way, where are Ning Xiaoyu and Shan Qiuling?" Old Master Shan remembered the news in the newspaper and his face darkened.
Shan Xue, who had rushed to the company early in the morning to deal with work, had yet to see the newspaper, so she did not know why her father suddenly asked about Ning Xiaoyu and Shan Qiuling. Still, she honestly replied, "Before I left the house, Ning Xiaoyu was taking Shan Qiuling to the hospital for an abortion."
This decision was made by Ning Xiaoyu once she had confirmed that the "flesh" in Shan Qiuling’s stomach was of no use. In order to avoid familiar faces, Ning Xiaoyu had dragged Shan Qiuling to the hospital early.
"Call them and tell them to come back home right now. After they get home, they’re not allowed to go anywhere else." When Old Master Shan heard what the mother and daughter were up to, the fire in his heart blazed even fiercer.
"Dad, what happened?" Shan Xue, sensing the unfriendly tone of her father, wondered what Ning Xiaoyu and her daughter had done to upset him. Normally, the old man turned a blind eye to her big brother’s family matters.
"We’ll talk when we meet," Old Master Shan said, too full of anger to have the mood to explain further to Shan Xue.
After hanging up the phone, Old Master Shan ordered his subordinates to check which newspaper had the gall to publish such a story without his permission. Old Master Shan thought to himself that he would sort out the matter with whichever newspaper it was once he found out.
Meanwhile, Ning Xiaoyu and Shan Qiuling, mentioned by Old Master Shan and Shan Xue, had just left the hospital after the abortion.
For the sake of her reputation, Ning Xiaoyu insisted on not being hospitalized after Shan Qiuling had the abortion, regardless of her pale complexion, and went straight home to recuperate.
As Ning Xiaoyu and Shan Qiuling walked out of the hospital, a flash of light glittered from somewhere they did not notice. And those around who recognized Shan Qiuling, even after passing by her, could not help but turn their heads for a second glance. The looks they gave were full of schadenfreude and disdain.
Initially, Ning Xiaoyu and Shan Qiuling did not notice, but as almost every passerby turned to look at them, they finally became aware. However, their hearts were filled with wonder. What was wrong with these people? Why were they all turning to look at them?
While Ning Xiaoyu and Shan Qiuling felt perplexed, they overheard two middle-aged women passing by, saying in voices not so quiet, "Is that woman the one from the newspaper?"
"It looks like it to me." The other middle-aged woman then turned back to take a closer look at Shan Qiuling and said, "I think the figure also matches, so there’s no mistake, it must be Shan Qiuling. Tsk, tsk, who would have thought we’d see the real person today."
"Yeah, it’s really unexpected. Such a pretty girl and such a messy private life. Ai, if I had a daughter like that, I would have broken her legs long ago." The words of these two middle-aged women reached Ning Xiaoyu and Shan Qiuling’s ears.
Upon hearing the discussion of the two women, Ning Xiaoyu couldn’t stand it anymore. She confronted them, demanding, "What are you two gossiping about here? And what kind of quality is this, talking behind other people’s backs?"
"We’re not talking nonsense; what we’re saying is all from the newspapers. Here, don’t believe it, read it yourself." One of the middle-aged women took a newspaper out of her bag and handed it to Ning Xiaoyu.
Ning Xiaoyu took the newspaper, unfolded it, and upon seeing the photo, her face turned pale in an instant.
"Mom, what are you looking at? Let’s go back, I feel really awful," said Shan Qiuling, who had just had an abortion and could barely care about anything else.
"Don’t call me mother. You take a look for yourself what’s on here." Ning Xiaoyu threw the newspaper in Shan Qiuling’s face and, with those words, turned and left, leaving behind Shan Qiuling with a ghastly pale face, clueless about what had happened.
Unaware of what had happened, Shan Qiuling picked up the newspaper that her mother had thrown at her face and only needed one glance. She staggered for a moment, nearly falling over. Shan Qiuling recognized instantly where the backdrop of the photo was taken. She also knew the degree of debauchery in the private room that day.
Shan Qiuling didn’t take the events in the private room to heart at first; after all, they had played around like that before, just not as excessively as that day. But now, the photos from that day in the private room were published in the newspaper. This left Shan Qiuling shocked and frightened.
So there she stood, holding the newspaper, utterly still. Even the peculiar looks from the passersby did not register with her.
