"Mom, how did you find out about this?" Brown Kress experienced a momentary blank in his mind when he heard his mother’s words. Then, he shuddered as it hit him: if the shareholders of the Brown Family knew about his dealings with The Underworld, there was no telling what awaited him.

"Where did I hear it? All the shareholders have been calling me. What the hell is going on with you? Have you forgotten the ancestral teachings of the Brown Family, huh?" By the end of her tirade, Old Lady Brown’s voice had risen several decibels in her agitation.

"Mom, don’t get so worked up," Brown Kress attempted to comfort his mother. But clearly, it was not very effective.

"How can I not get worked up? I just handed over the position of the Family Head to you, and now look at the mess you’ve stirred up. Are you trying to hand over the position of the Family Head of the Brown Family to that BASTARD?" Old Lady Brown couldn’t hide her agitation at the thought of his illegitimate child.

"Mom, please, don’t panic. I’ll come back right now and explain everything to you," Brown Kress had considered the possibility that his collaboration with The Underworld might be exposed one day, but he never anticipated it happening so soon. However, he had his own considerations. He thought that the success of their project with Dragon Society would take the Brown Group to the next level within BL, and that should shut up all the critics within the Brown Family.

"Fine, I’ll be waiting at home for your explanation." With a "click," Old Lady Brown hung up the phone.

Brown Kress listened to the rapid "beep beep beep" coming from the other end of the line with a dark expression. Clutching his phone tightly, he thought to himself that if he found out who was causing trouble from the inside, he definitely wouldn’t let them off lightly.

"Let’s go, back to the old mansion." Brown Kress handed his phone to his assistant and left the Brown Group building.

No one knew what Brown Kress and Old Lady Brown discussed, but ultimately, he managed to get past this hurdle posed by his mother. This allowed Brown Kress to breathe a sigh of relief and made him all the more determined to ensure the success of the project with Dragon Society.

But Xia Yujie and Liu Yuxiang had no intention of giving Brown Kress any respite.

"President, there is a problem with the contract we have with Dragon Society." Just a short while after Kress returned to his office at the Brown Group from comforting his mother at the old mansion, the assistant to the Brown Group’s lawyer burst in with the contract in hand, knocking on the door as he entered.

"What did you say?" Brown Kress stood up from his chair in shock upon hearing the lawyer assistant’s words, his eyes wide with disbelief, staring straight at the assistant.

The lawyer assistant swallowed nervously and said, "I just heard from my colleague that there was something wrong with our contract with Dragon Society, so I came back to the office and took a copy of the contract to look over it carefully, and indeed, there were issues." He handed the contract to Brown Kress without looking at his face, and proactively started pointing out the problems. "Here, and here. Dragon Society’s contract drafting is very clever. If you don’t pay attention, you wouldn’t notice these issues at all."

At that moment, Brown Kress’s expression was so dark it was as if he could squeeze water out of it. "Oh, okay," the assistant took back the contract and began to explain to Brown Kress. The central idea boiled down to one thing: the Brown Group had been duped by Dragon Society. The money they had previously invested in that project was all for naught. All future profits from the project would have nothing to do with the Brown Group. It was all Dragon Society’s.

"What? What are you talking about? How is that possible?" Brown Kress could no longer sit still. He suddenly stood up, startling the assistant who was in full flow of explanation.

"But that is what the contract suggests. If we go by the contract, all the money that the Brown Group has invested is basically handed over to Dragon Society," the assistant said in a low voice, fearing that raising his voice might provoke Kress’s wrath.

"I’m going to find the people from Dragon Society right now," Brown Kress, infuriated, grabbed the copy of the contract and stormed out.

Brown Kress arrived at Dragon Society’s BL branch with a furious face, only to be stopped by Dragon Society’s guard. "Excuse me, sir, whom are you looking for?"

"I’m here to see your boss, Xia Yujie," Brown Kress, already seething with rage, was stopped by Dragon Society’s guard, and his temper flared even more. He had never been denied entry anywhere from his childhood, except for his father’s study.

"Do you have an appointment?" The guard had recognized Brown Kress as soon as he appeared, but recognition did not matter; Brown Kress might have sway elsewhere, but at Dragon Society, he was nothing.

"Appointment?" Brown Kress laughed as if he had heard some joke. "Do you know who I am? I am the current Family Head of the Brown Family. If you have any sense, let me in right now or you’ll regret it."

The guard’s dismissive glance was all that Brown Kress’s arrogance yielded, after which the guard no longer paid any attention to him and returned to his post.

"Hey, open the door for me, I need to see Xia Yujie," Brown Kress shouted frantically at the guard’s indifference.

All of Brown Kress’s actions at the door were clearly seen by Xia Yujie and Liu Yuxiang through the surveillance camera.

As Brown Kress lost his composure in frustration, Xia Yujie picked up the phone next to him and dialed Brown Kress’s number.
