Chapter 483: Chapter 483 Li Yipei’s Diary (2)_1
However, when they saw Li Yong, who had just stepped out of Situ Haotian’s office, being escorted by the anti-corruption bureau, they suddenly realized what was happening. "Situ Haotian would never be arrested by the anti-corruption bureau," they said. Those who knew Li Yong’s identity murmured amongst themselves. "Now it makes sense, it’s Li Yipei’s father. That shameless Li Yipei seduced our chief, and her father is actually corrupt."
"I always knew that Li Yipei was no good, and now it seems that her entire family is bad news." Those who said this had always had issues with Li Yipei. However, they dared only gossip behind her back because of her position in the unit. But now, seeing that Li Yipei’s father had been taken away by the anti-corruption bureau and that Li Yipei had been fired by Situ Haotian, those who disliked her felt no need to hold back.
Li Yong overheard everyone’s discussions, but he felt absolutely nothing inside. His face was ashen. Ever since Situ Xin read out his daughter’s diary, and with the subsequent appearance of the anti-corruption bureau, he knew his chances were slim.
Nevertheless, he had a question in his mind: where did Situ Haotian’s daughter get that diary, and why did the anti-corruption bureau happen to show up right at Situ Haotian’s office? He had many questions, but it was clear that no one could answer them.
"Baby, your timing was a little too perfect," Situ Haotian said with a tinge of melancholy as he watched Li Yong being taken away by the anti-corruption bureau.
"Dad, I didn’t plan this. I knew that Li Yong would be caught by the anti-corruption bureau, but I didn’t expect them to come to your office, and the timing was just spot on. However, if you want to know, I don’t mind asking Situ Muli and the others," Situ Xin stated. In her opinion, if someone had indeed orchestrated the events, it would have to be the Dark Division’s doing.
"No need, but making such a big scene to arrest Li Yong, that won’t cause any problems, will it?" To Situ Haotian, the process didn’t matter as much as the outcome.
"No, Li Yong was arrested simply for accepting bribes. It has nothing to do with that incident. The people on the other side won’t make a move. But they will keep an eye on Li Yong. As long as he doesn’t divulge anything about them, they won’t interfere with Li Yong’s case. They’re also cautious, knowing that the moment they make a move, we in Country H will notice," Situ Xin asserted confidently. "Plus, we’re controlling Li Yong now just to get the documents he has, which the people on the other side are unaware of." As Situ Xin confided this sensitive information to her father, Situ Haotian, she released her Divine Sense.
She released her Divine Sense because her father’s office was not as secure as their home, and she had to be wary of eavesdroppers.
In the hospital.
"Mom, what about my face? I don’t want it to stay like this forever. How could I ever go out and face people?" Li Yipei, whose left cheek was wrapped in gauze, cried out to her mother in the hospital room.
"Yipei, calm down. Rest assured, your dad and I will find a way to heal your face," her mother comforted her nearly hysterical daughter, her anxious eyes fixed on the door, thinking, "Why hasn’t that person Yong found shown up yet?"
"Mom, I won’t let that bitch off. I’ll make sure she suffers as I have; the pain she caused me, I’ll return it to her. You and Dad must help me," Li Yipei’s eyes brimmed with hatred. She was set on revenge.
"Of course, of course. Your dad and I will not let that girl who hurt you off easily. Your father has already gone to settle the score with her," Li Yipei’s mother said, comforting her daughter while cursing Situ Xin repeatedly in her heart.
"Mom, Dad has been gone for so long. Why hasn’t he returned? Call him and hurry him up," Li Yipei said, feeling a bit calmer knowing that her father had gone out to seek vengeance for her.
"Okay, I’ll call your dad right now," Li Yipei’s mother quickly agreed and pulled out her mobile phone to call her husband, Li Yong. However, the phone was switched off.
"Huh, why is your father’s phone switched off?" Li Yipei’s mother said, holding the phone, puzzled by the shutdown tone on the other end.
"Could something have happened to Dad?" Li Yipei, remembering Situ Xin’s powerful demeanor and the white pet that scratched her face, furrowed her brows and started to worry.
Just as Li Yipei and her mother were worried about her father, the door to the hospital room opened.
Three people entered, showing their credentials before addressing Li Yipei and her mother, "We are from the anti-corruption bureau. You must be Li Yong’s wife and daughter."
Upon hearing they were from the anti-corruption bureau, Li Yipei’s mother’s legs went weak. She knew all too well about the money her husband had embezzled, some of which she had handled personally. Even Li Yipei, who was in the know, had her face change instantly.
"I am Li Yong’s wife," Li Yipei’s mother stuttered.
"Then please come with us," the leading agent gestured to his colleagues, and the two women beside him took Li Yipei’s mother’s arms, ready to escort her out.
"Mom!" Li Yipei cried out, alarmed as she saw her mother being taken away and quickly sat up on the hospital bed.
"Yipei, it’s okay, just stay in the hospital and behave," Li Yipei’s mother wanted to say something comforting to her daughter but couldn’t find the words.
The leading agent, losing patience at the sight of the fussing mother and daughter, thought to himself how unnecessary this was. If they had only obeyed the law, they wouldn’t be in this situation. Just as he was about to urge them on, his mobile phone rang.
