Chapter 477: Chapter 477: Xiao Family Again (2)_1

"Indeed, it was the Xiao Family again. However, initially, they only harbored improper thoughts and placed Li Yipei by your side, hoping that once she gained your trust, they could stab you in the back at a critical moment. But after the incidents that occurred a while ago, the Xiao Family, whose power remained undiminished, stopped concerning themselves with Li Yipei, essentially abandoning her as their pawn. Nonetheless, Li Yipei developed unusual feelings. She felt good about herself, believing she was young and beautiful. Moreover, she graduated from a prestigious university and thought herself completely suited for you. Add to that how you’ve looked after her on regular occasions, and the gentle way you talk to her; she assumed that you were interested in her but refrained from speaking openly due to your marital status," Situ Xin said, her eyes fixed on her father, Situ Haotian, as she delivered these last few sentences.

The more Situ Xin spoke, the deeper the frown on Situ Haotian’s brow became. "Damn it, I just thought she was a conscientious and diligent young lady, so I treated her a bit nicer, but that was all."

Situ Xin didn’t comment on her father’s words but gave him a deep look before continuing, "Li Yipei’s father is a division chief in the Tax Bureau, and her mother is an internist at the city hospital. Li Yipei told her father about her ’relationship’ with you, claiming you two were a perfect match and even disclosed your identity to him. Initially, her father disapproved, but after hearing about your identity, he changed his mind; he supported Li Yipei’s actions and even told her to hold on tight to you so that he could climb another rung on his political ladder." Situ Xin paused for a moment and added, "Li Yipei also spread rumors at your workplace, telling colleagues that you two were a perfect match."

"What, how come I didn’t know anything about this?" Situ Haotian was shocked by Situ Xin’s revelations.

"Humph, it’s not surprising you didn’t know, and you’ve made a substantial contribution to her credibility with those people in your office. If it weren’t for your special care towards her, they might not have believed Li Yipei’s words." Situ Xin said this with discomfort in her heart, "If I didn’t know that you had no inappropriate thoughts about her, I wouldn’t have the patience to discuss this with you."

After hearing Situ Xin’s words, Situ Haotian reflected on how his colleagues had looked at him lately and realized their gazes contained a probing quality, or some meaning he couldn’t understand.

"Dad, do you want to handle Li Yipei’s matter yourself or should I?" Without waiting for her father Situ Haotian to speak, Situ Xin directly asked.

"I’ll handle this myself," Situ Haotian said without hesitation, not wanting to trouble his precious daughter with such matters.

"Alright," Situ Xin was quite satisfied with her father Situ Haotian’s attitude toward handling the matter but added, "However, Dad, if I’m not satisfied with how you deal with it, I don’t mind taking matters into my own hands." Having said that, Situ Xin prepared to leave, but before opening the door, she turned to Situ Haotian and said, "Dad, I hope I won’t have to intervene personally."

"Baby, don’t worry. I will definitely resolve this to your satisfaction," Situ Haotian stated firmly.

In the following days, Situ Xin began dealing with Han Mengying’s issues. However, while resolving Han Mengying’s matters, she didn’t forget to have Xia Yujie keep an eye on her father Situ Haotian’s movements.

Han Mengying hadn’t taken Situ Xin’s words seriously. After leaving the private room that day, although seething with resentment, she suppressed her jealousy and anger and turned to handle her affairs in Country H—setting up a clothing company.

Han Mengying was so proactive because she had heard that foreign enterprises received very favorable and preferential policies for development in one’s own country.

When she first started preparing to set up the factory, everything went smoothly. Some government departments, upon hearing that she was a foreign investor, were exceptionally enthusiastic and extended various preferential policies to her.

However, this smooth sailing came to an abrupt halt when Han Mengying, having prepared all the required documentation, submitted the materials to the Capital City’s Commerce Bureau, only to have them rejected. The reason they gave was that some of the information she provided did not seem to be authentic and advised her to make revisions.

When Han Mengying asked the staff to specify which parts of the materials were thought to be inauthentic and even offered a red envelope to facilitate the conversation, her bribe was coldly declined by the staff.

Having her bribe refused, Han Mengying left the Commerce Bureau with the documents in hand, puzzled as she walked away, wondering when the officials in Capital City became so incorruptible that they would refuse a bribe.

What Han Mengying didn’t know was that the staff member who had felt the thick red envelope had been tempted, but recalling the instructions from above, painfully declined. After all, compared to the bribe, their job position was much more important.

But Han Mengying’s misfortune was far from over. When she returned to the hotel with her documents, the hotel’s front desk informed her that someone was looking for her. Seeing the strangers approaching, Han Mengying wondered who these people were, as she had no recollection of them whatsoever.

Just as Han Mengying was about to inquire about their business with her, the unsmiling leader of the group disclosed his identity to her without stating any reasons. He simply informed her that she was to be deported immediately and asked her to pack her belongings.

Han Mengying wanted to ask why but was given no chance to speak as the man waved his hand, signaling the male and female behind him to escort Han Mengying to her room to gather her luggage.

And so, in utter confusion, Han Mengying was sent back to BL.

Upon arrival in BL, Han Mengying sought to understand the reason for her deportation and was greeted with the accusation of illegal immigration. When she saw the evidence of her purported attempts at illegal immigration in Country H, her expression was best described as one of shock.
