Chapter 474: Chapter 474: The Situation of Rebellion Within (2)_1
"Look, Auntie, you don’t need to act like you’re all that. Just a fashion designer, and a no-name at that. Your little studio at BL is utterly devoid of business. I heard you’re back in the country because your workshop there couldn’t make it, and with the domestic fashion industry just starting up, you brought back the money you got from the divorce. Oh, and you were going on and on about Auntie Zhang Xiao, how she married into wealth by luck and manipulation. Don’t act so superior; she’s quite content with her family life, unlike some people who got kicked out by their husbands, straight to the curb," Situ Xin said, each word a true reflection of Han Mengying’s experiences. But the version Han Mengying had told Zhang Xiao and the others was nothing like this.
"What? She got thrown out by her husband? She claimed she had lost feelings for her husband and insisted on divorcing. She said her husband nearly knelt down and begged her not to leave," said a woman sitting in the back, shocked.
"That’s what she told me too. So everything she said was a lie?" another woman chimed in.
Seeing Han Mengying’s face turn pale at her words, Situ Xin sneered inwardly before continuing, "And Auntie, haven’t you always insisted that ’Xin’ Clothing Company has nothing to do with my family? Well, let me make it clear to you now, ’Xin’ Clothing Company is indeed my family’s business, and the two backers behind it are my grandfather and my maternal grandfather. In other words, Yaxin’s father and grandfather, the ones you’ve looked down upon. So, Auntie, got anything to say now?"
"Right, Situ Haotian’s surname is Situ, and Loo Yaxin’s is Loo; the Situ family’s connections with the Loo family were not a marriage alliance," upon Situ Xin’s revelation, everybody remembered the family surname.
And then Zhang Xiao had an epiphany, "The ’Xin’ Clothing Company isn’t Xiao Xin’s, is it? The ’Xin’ comes from the Xin in Xiao Xin’s name." And with that, everyone grasped the truth.
Those who learned the true identities of Situ Haotian and Loo Yaxin felt a rush of relief, grateful for the day’s drama that prevented them from acting on Han Mengying’s requests. Otherwise, their activities could have landed them in serious trouble.
If the Situ and Loo families knew these people harbored intentions of splitting Situ Haotian and Loo Yaxin apart, who knows what consequences would have befallen them.
Now, looking at Han Mengying, their eyes were filled with disdain; she was the one who had been brainwashing them. And really, what a shameless woman. Who did she think she was, what status did she have to even dare to covet Situ Haotian? Even if Situ Haotian was willing, the Situ family would never let such a person step through their door.
After hearing Situ Xin’s last remark, Han Mengying’s face went completely ashen. Looking at Loo Yaxin, she could never have imagined that Yaxin held such status. There she was, flaunting her own status in front of Yaxin, which to the Loo Family, wasn’t worth a second glance.
Zhang Xiao turned to Loo Yaxin and said, "Yaxin, so you were born into such a family. No wonder you mentioned you couldn’t make decisions on your own, needing the agreement of the two elders in your family. But Yaxin, when you go back, you absolutely must speak well of me to the two elders. I insist on recognizing Xiao Xin as my goddaughter." Despite her surprise at Situ Xin’s family status, Zhang Xiao’s determination to take Situ Xin as her goddaughter didn’t waver.
The people in the private room, having acknowledged the statuses of Loo Yaxin and Situ Haotian, had already disregarded Han Mengying. The men were discussing politics with Situ Haotian to build relations, while the women were bonding with Loo Yaxin over life, children, and skincare.
Indeed, everyone’s focus had been on the argument between Situ Xin and Han Mengying, so they hadn’t really paid attention to Loo Yaxin. Now, with everyone’s attention on her, they were utterly astounded.
"My goodness, Yaxin, how do you maintain your appearance? You look just like you haven’t aged a bit, oh no, I should say, you’ve become even more beautiful than before." The sincerity was undeniable in her words. Back in their middle school days, they had faced the Cultural Revolution and the era’s limitations had been evident in the military-style clothing everyone wore. Girls had no chance to dress up, but times had changed now. With the change in eras, everyone’s attire had evolved, and with the passage of time, the inherent quality in Loo Yaxin’s bones made her appear even more charming.
"Yaxin, you’ve got to share your secrets with us. Your skin is so tender it seems water could drip out of it, it’s even better than my daughter’s skin. Not like us, with our age, the skin becomes drier and wrinkles are not few and far between," another woman complained.
"My skin is in such good condition probably because I use cosmetics produced by ’Xin’ Clothing Company," Loo Yaxin followed the script she and Situ Xin had agreed on.
"The cosmetics from ’Xin’ are truly remarkable; my skin has improved a lot after using them, but it’s still nowhere near as perfect as yours," Hu Yinting interjected as soon as Loo Yaxin mentioned "Xin" cosmetics.
"Right now, I’m using an essence from ’Xin’ that hasn’t hit the market yet, plus I might’ve been using it longer than you all, hence the more noticeable difference," Loo Yaxin took the opportunity to advertise the upcoming essence from "Xin."
"Really? Once the essence is available, I’ll go buy it," Hu Yinting said excitedly.
"Then I’ll try it too. If it’s good, I’ll switch to the ’Xin’ brand," Zhang Xiao also joined in.
Situ Xin watched the crowd flocking around Loo Yaxin and her face lit up with the first genuine smile she had shown since arriving that day.
Meanwhile, Han Mengying, witnessing Loo Yaxin becoming the center of everyone’s attention, replacing her, gritted her teeth in anger. Her expression twisted in rage, and if anyone had been looking at Han Mengying just then, they would have been frightened by her ghastly visage.
