Chapter 426: Chapter 426: I Did This Thing (2)_1

"I heard from Yan Lei that it was Yuhan who was looking for him," Xiao Yuechao said, relieved his father wasn’t angry.

"Since Yuhan is coming, let’s go downstairs," said Old Master Xiao, who was extremely fond of his only granddaughter.

"Grandpa," they had just come downstairs when Xiao Yanlei arrived with Liu Yuhan. Seeing her grandfather, she ran over to him, cooing affectionately. Although Liu Yuhan was willful, she had been instilled with the belief by her mother since she was young that she had to ingratiate herself with her grandfather. Only by winning his affection would everyone else love her too.

"Oh, Yuhan is here. Come, let grandpa see. Our Yuhan has lost weight," remarked Old Master Xiao, now the image of a loving elder, showing no sign of his previous anger. "Come and talk to grandpa, are you settling in well at Shangjing University? Has anyone bullied our Yuhan?"

"Grandfather, Yuhan called me because she was bullied. She was even crying on the phone with me today," Xiao Yanlei explained, recalling Liu Yuhan’s request not to reveal what had really happened at school—having her boyfriend snatched by another girl, just to say she had been bullied. Xiao Yanlei assumed that Liu Yuhan felt ashamed that someone had taken her boyfriend and didn’t want to lose face by talking about it, so he agreed to her request.

"Really? Yuhan, tell grandpa who bullied you. I’ll deal with them for you. I want to see who dares to pick on my precious granddaughter," Old Master Xiao said, obviously holding back some anger.

"Grandfather, it’s a small matter, you don’t need to get involved; I will have Yan Lei help me get even," Liu Yuhan hastily suggested. She feared if her grandfather got involved, her lie might be exposed. And the one thing her grandfather despised most was being deceived. The thought of her grandfather finding out she had lied to him made her shudder.

Old Master Xiao had initially been impulsive, but after hearing Liu Yuhan’s words and remembering he had other issues to deal with, he nodded and said, "Alright, I’ll leave this to your Yan Lei." Turning to Xiao Yanlei, Old Master Xiao instructed, "Yan Lei, this matter with Yuhan is yours to handle. You better do a good job, or you’ll answer to me."

"Yes, grandpa, I understand," agreed Xiao Yanlei readily.

Xiao Yanqin glanced at Liu Yuhan, who was snuggled up to Old Master Xiao and then at Xiao Yanlei, frowning unconsciously. He couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off with Liu Yuhan’s matter, as if it were not as simple as it seemed.

After dinner, as Xiao Yanqin and Xiao Yanlei headed upstairs, Xiao Yanqin softly warned, "Yan Lei, you should investigate Yuhan’s affair at school first, along with the other party’s identity. There are many from the Yamen here in Capital City, and you can easily offend someone you shouldn’t."

"It’s okay, Big Brother. There aren’t many who can stand against the Xiao Family here in Capital City. I doubt those who have troubled Yuhan belong to those families, and besides, I know all of them," replied Xiao Yanlei, dismissing Xiao Yanqin’s concerns.

During the break, Situ Xin took out a book she had found in her space yesterday and began reading. The book was about Divine Beasts. Situ Xin, concerned about why Baibai had become so sleepy lately, had searched her space thoroughly before finally finding the book.

Thinking it was boring during class, Situ Xin wrapped the book in a cover and brought it to school to pass the time and maybe find out why Baibai was so sleepy.

"Who is Situ Xin? Come out here," bellowed a few thuggish-looking people who had appeared at the classroom’s door when Situ Xin was engrossed in her book.

"Who are you and what do you want with Situ Xin?" Tian Jinlei responded defensively to the group who clearly did not come with good intentions, before Situ Xin even raised her head.

"Who the hell are you? I’m looking for Situ Xin, and it’s none of your business, so back off. Otherwise, I’ll beat you up too," the yellow-haired leader threatened, shaking his fist at Tian Jinlei.

Tian Jinlei was about to respond when Situ Xin pulled him back. "Class monitor, don’t be impulsive; they’re here for me." Situ Xin put away the book, slipped it into her bag, stood up, and walked towards the classroom door.

"Hey, Situ Xin, those guys are bad news. You..." Tian Jinlei uttered with concern.

"Don’t worry, I won’t have any trouble," Situ Xin replied, leaving unsaid that if there was going to be trouble, it wouldn’t be for her, but for them.

"Hey, Yuhan, did you call these people here?" Cao Mengqi remarked gleefully, looking forward to the scene of Situ Xin being dealt with harshly.

"It must be my Yan Lei who called them. Hmph, Situ Xin, that vixen, is going to get what’s coming to her," said Liu Yuhan, smirking triumphantly.

"Are you looking for me?" Situ Xin asked casually as she reached the doorway and glanced at the thugs.

Upon seeing Situ Xin’s appearance, the thugs were momentarily taken aback. They had not expected their target to be so stunningly beautiful. The yellow-haired leader especially found it hard to contemplate marring Situ Xin’s face, contemplating the orders from above to scar her alchemy, but felt conflicted because such a beautiful countenance seemed a pity to spoil.

"So you’re Situ Xin? What a shame for such a pretty face." Though reluctant, the yellow-haired thug knew he had to follow orders for his own safety.

Hearing the yellow-haired thug’s words, Situ Xin had a pretty good idea of what was happening—someone was upset by her appearance, particularly her face. Wondering who would go to such lengths, she spoke with a nonchalant air, "I am Situ Xin. It seems someone finds my face bothersome. Can I ask who is so troubled by it? Even if my face gets ruined, I would like to know who was so offended by it, wouldn’t I?"
