Chapter 411: Chapter 411 The Drug Lord’s Lair (1)_1
Jiang Anbang’s forehead had already started beading with sweat. Even the clothes on the backs of the people beside him were drenched.
"Fire," ordered Hei Er, having found a good position. He had been considering how to approach and capture the enemy in one fell swoop. But when he saw Jiang Anbang and the few other special forces members sitting outside the tent keeping watch through the faint flicker of firelight, he decisively instructed his subordinates to shoot at them.
The people with Hei Er were all from special forces backgrounds. Their marksmanship wasn’t exactly that of a sniper, but it wasn’t far off either. Upon his order, his subordinates quickly took up their guns, aimed at Jiang Anbang, and fired.
The bullet that was fired was aimed directly at Jiang Anbang’s temple.
A gunshot abruptly woke those who were in deep sleep. At this point, whether from The Dark Division or the special forces of Situ Che and Loo Jie’s side, each person quickly and agilely emerged from their tents. Of course, this did not include Baibai and Situ Xin. The two of them were in the space; one sleeping, the other occupied with concocting medicine powder.
Before she entered the tent that evening, she had taken the blood drawn from the prisoners back into the space to study—the kind of poison the drug lord had injected into them. Moreover, she wanted to find an antidote for this poison.
Outside, Situ Xin always extended her Divine Sense outside of the space, so she was the first to be aware of any movement outside. However, at this moment, she was in the critical process of creating an antidote for the drug lord’s poison, so she did not immediately leave the space with Baibai but continued with what she was doing.
Only after she had completed the antidote did Situ Xin leisurely leave the space with Baibai.
Over at Situ Che’s side, as they heard the commotion and emerged from their tents, "Captain, something happened..." The teammate of Situ Che and Loo Jie had not finished speaking when they saw a glint of light flash by, followed by the sound of something colliding and falling.
"Hey, what’s going on over there?" Everyone looked towards the source of the sound, but due to the darkness, they could not see anything. At that moment, they also dared not rashly check it out, afraid of walking into an ambush.
Situ Che and his team couldn’t clearly make out the situation, but Hei San had a clear view of everything. He was originally delighted, waiting to see Jiang Anbang shot in the head. But before he could enjoy this moment for long, the bullet seemed to be blocked mid-course by something, emitting a not so dazzling white light before falling to the ground.
"Damn it, what was that just now?" After cursing, Hei San turned to his subordinates and asked.
His subordinates had no idea what had just happened either. "Subordinate does not know what happened. Should I go and check it out?"
"No need. It’s not safe here. They’re all awake now. If you rashly go out, you might get caught by them," Hei San stopped his subordinate from moving. He thought for a moment, then took out his handgun and fired a shot towards Situ Che’s side.
Hei San and his people watched the bullet intently, observing it as it flew towards Situ Che and his team. However, like the previous one, the bullet abruptly dropped to the ground mid-flight. "Tsk. What’s going on?" Hei San felt that today’s events were bizarre.
On Situ Che’s side, alerted by the gunshot, everyone was on guard. In the pitch darkness, they couldn’t see where the bullets were coming from and could only rely on the sound to gauge their origin. Following the direction of the sound, they didn’t see the incoming bullets but saw the same white light as before.
After exchanging glances, confusion and curiosity filled their eyes. Situ Che and Loo Jie, upon seeing the second white light, had a rough idea of what was happening. They speculated that it probably had something to do with the formation their beloved younger sister, Situ Xin, had set up.
Hei San, refusing to give in to superstitions, fired several shots towards the direction of Situ Che and his team. But not a single bullet reached them; just like before, they all dropped to the ground midway.
"Boss, what do we do now?" seeing this, Hei San’s subordinates asked.
Hei San didn’t respond to his subordinate’s question but frowned deeply and stared in the direction of Situ Che and his team, deep in thought. After a while, just when the subordinate thought he wouldn’t get a response, he heard Hei San say, "Let’s fall back." Hei San knew that today’s situation was eerily abnormal, but precisely because of that, the bullets they fired couldn’t touch the other side at all.
Since they dared not move forward to fight them head-on, they had no choice but to hurry back and report the matter to their boss.
"What did you say? Tell me the situation again?" Upon returning to their base, Hei San headed straight to the drug lord’s residence to report the eerie events. After hearing what Hei San said, the drug lord suddenly stood up from his chair, his tone laced with urgency.
"Just now, when we attacked the special forces, we fired bullets, but they halted in mid-course, flashed a white light, then fell to the ground," Hei San recounted without any hesitation or delay.
"It can’t be; if it’s that thing, it should have been lost to time by now. Even if it existed, by current standards, it just wouldn’t be possible," the drug lord mumbled to himself, cutting off Hei San after a moment’s thought. Despite his belief that such a thing no longer existed, based on the ancient texts he had seen, what Hei San described was precisely the long-lost Formation.
The drug lord suppressed the impulse in his heart. If not for his remaining rationality and awareness of the current situation, he would have charged up the mountain to investigate immediately.
Unable to go and check the mountain himself, but feeling that if what Hei San described was indeed a Formation, then the most likely person to have set it up was the girl who sat on the White Tiger. With this thought, the drug lord couldn’t wait to dial the number of his inside man at the special forces headquarters.
