Chapter 407: Chapter 407 The Leader of The Dark Division (2)_1
Situ Che and Loo Jie also went to help. Situ Xin got down from Baibai’s back and went to check on the gunshot victims to see if there was anything she needed to do.
"Hey, Ah Jie, I didn’t expect your so-called ’Baby’ sister to be so formidable, actually being the leader of The Dark Division," Gao Chengzhou said as he walked up to Loo Jie and patted him on the shoulder.
"Yes, our Baby has always been amazing. She is the treasure of our entire family," answered Loo Jie, delighted to hear someone praise Situ Xin. He felt even happier than if they praised him.
After Situ Che and Loo Jie had rounded up the people knocked down by Situ Xin and Baibai and brought them to where they had been gathering, Jiang Anbang still felt uneasy and tied them up. After finishing these tasks, Mei and Yafu helped tend to all those injured by gunshots, removing the bullets and bandaging their wounds.
"Xing, use the water from your bottle to splash these people awake for me," Situ Xin ordered, looking at those tied up who had been knocked unconscious by her and Baibai.
"Yes," Xing complied, splashing the water from his bottle on the people one by one. Situ Xin’s medicinal powder would automatically wake them up once their faces touched water; otherwise, the water Xing had wouldn’t have been enough.
Hei Yi and Hei Er gradually came back to consciousness. As they looked around at the scene before them, it took them a while to regain their senses. Gao Chengzhou cracked a joke observing their dazed expressions, "These guys didn’t get hit into stupidity, did they?"
"You guys," Hei Yi, the first to snap back to reality, tried to motion with his body but found himself weak and bound. He began to speak.
However, he was interrupted by Jiang Anbang, who looked at Hei Yi in surprise and then said tentatively, "Yang Zhi?"
Hearing Jiang Anbang call out that name, Hei Yi trembled and then raised his head to look in Jiang Anbang’s direction. Then, he averted his gaze. However, Hei Yi’s reaction confirmed for Jiang Anbang that he hadn’t recognized the wrong person. He approached Hei Yi, squatting down beside him. "I know I haven’t mistaken you; you are Yang Zhi. But how come you are here? Weren’t you supposed to be dead already?"
Situ Xin raised an eyebrow. She hadn’t expected that in such a place, Jiang Anbang could actually encounter someone he knew.
Realizing that Jiang Anbang truly recognized him, Hei Yi sighed and admitted, "You’re right, I am Yang Zhi, and I didn’t die back then."
During the conversation between Hei Yi and Jiang Anbang, Situ Xin learned that Hei Yi’s real name was Yang Zhi. Back in the day, he and Jiang Anbang were teammates, both special forces members. However, Yang Zhi was seriously injured on a mission and rolled down a steep slope.
After the mission concluded, the special forces sent a search and rescue team to look for Yang Zhi, but they never found him. The military leaders determined from the gunshot wounds on his body that Yang Zhi couldn’t possibly have survived. Consequently, when search and rescue efforts proved fruitless, they declared Yang Zhi dead.
But the Yang Zhi who rolled down the slope didn’t die. Instead, he was saved by his current boss, a drug lord, who went through a lot of effort to bring him back. Yang Zhi, grateful for having his life saved, expressed his willingness to repay this debt of gratitude.
However, the drug lord wasn’t the type of person to act altruistically without expecting something in return. He had saved Yang Zhi knowing the latter’s exceptional physical abilities, suitable for practicing Ancient Martial Arts. After Yang Zhi recovered, the drug lord’s proposal for repaying the life-saving favor was to stay and become one of his subordinates.
Initially upon learning of the drug lord’s identity, Yang Zhi wanted to leave immediately and declined the offer to stay. When Yang Zhi refused, the drug lord injected him with a substance similar to methamphetamine. While not as frequently addictive as meth, the periods between cravings were more intense and torturous when it took hold.
Thus, after being injected with this substance and unable to bear the agonizing effects, Yang Zhi eventually agreed to the drug lord’s demand to stay. He changed his name to Hei Yi and, after learning Ancient Martial Arts, became a powerful aide to the drug lord.
After hearing Hei Yi’s story, Situ Xin spoke to Baibai, "Baibai, doesn’t the substance Hei Yi mentioned seem similar to what’s on the Silver Needles in their bodies?"
"Not just similar, my master. I think you could find some of it at the drug lord’s, bring it back for research, and it might not be too different from your medicinal powder formula," Baibai responded, followed by a yawn. The excitement was over, and it was feeling sleepy again.
"Yes, yes, after we deal with this drug lord, I’ll definitely find some and study it. At the same time, I’ll concoct an antidote," Situ Xin chatted with Baibai.
Meanwhile, Jiang Anbang, after hearing Hei Yi’s, or Yang Zhi’s, account, fell into deep silence. His feelings were complex, a mix of sympathy for Yang Zhi’s predicament and dissatisfaction with his eventual capitulation. Ultimately, these complex emotions culminated in a deep sigh from Jiang Anbang. "Yang Zhi, although we were once comrades in arms, we stand on different sides now. Therefore, I must inconvenience you for the time being. I can’t let you go yet."
"It’s okay, I understand. Actually, I had anticipated this day, thought about the day you’d catch me. I figured that maybe, it would only be when I get caught by you that I would find release," Hei Yi, also known as Yang Zhi, felt immensely peaceful and relieved at this moment.
"Jiang Anbang, be careful. The people above you have leaked your operation. He knows about your plans like the back of his hand and has prepared a series of measures to annihilate all of you. However, you’re lucky this time; someone appeared and lent you a hand, otherwise you might have already become his prisoners," said Yang Zhi, casting a glance at Situ Xin seated atop Baibai.
