Chapter 395: Chapter 395: The Drug Lord (3)_1
However, the teacher glanced at Liu Zihan, who was standing, and said, "This student, please pay attention to the lecture during class and don’t always concern yourself with other people’s matters." If it had been someone else, the teacher would probably have had more to say. But with Situ Xin, the teacher wouldn’t dare criticize Situ Xin, no matter how courageous they were.
Situ Xin looked deeply at Liu Zihan, who was sitting in the same row as her, then lowered her head and continued to ponder over the content of the documents in her hand. Liu Zihan’s attempt to report Situ Xin failed and instead, she was scolded by the teacher, leaving her fuming as she sat down.
As soon as the class ended, Situ Xin began gathering her textbooks and shouldered her bag. Carrying Baibai, she made a phone call to her grandfather. "Hello, Grandpa, I need to rush back home for something. Could you call the principal for me and ask for a leave of absence?"
Old Master Situ, hearing the urgency in Situ Xin’s voice over the phone, agreed without asking any further questions.
Situ Xin left the classroom, hailed a taxi, and hurried home.
"Grandpa, Old Master Loo, Grandpa Deng." When Situ Xin arrived home, these three elders were all sitting on stone benches in the courtyard, waiting for her.
"Baby, you’re back. What happened?" Old Master Situ asked.
"Grandpa, there’s something very important," Situ Xin replied and took the documents out of her bag, handing them to the three elders for their own review.
The elders were already accustomed to the investigative documents that Situ Xin would occasionally bring out. Taking the documents, all three of them began reading them intently.
The more these three elders read, the graver their expressions became, especially when they saw the documents stating that officials from the Capital City Government were connected with a major drug lord, their faces darkened as if they could squeeze ink out of them.
Old Deng, outraged, threw the documents he was holding onto the table: "These scoundrels! To think that they are Party members, engaging in such harmful dealings with drug lords."
"Indeed, today’s officials scarcely remember their duty, nor do they recall their oath to serve the people. The smuggling case has barely been settled, and now we have officials entangled with drug traffickers again. I fear that if this continues, our Country H’s government will inevitably collapse one day," said Old Master Loo, also infuriated by what he read in the documents. He was aware that many officials were not clean, but he never imagined they would be so bold as to associate with drug lords.
"Humph, if those above don’t start properly managing these officials, I’d really support the public in dismantling this government." Old Master Situ, who already had a poor impression of those scheming government officials who always speak in circles, plus having spent a lifetime in the military with a straightforward temperament, was someone who spoke his mind openly among his own and would directly vent any dissatisfaction he had.
Situ Xin watched as the three elders expressed their dissatisfaction with the government officials after reading the documents, but they had not noticed what concerned her the most.
"Grandpa Deng, Grandpa, Old Master Loo, now is not the time to criticize these officials. Look carefully at their positions and see if there’s any connection to the mission that Brother Che and Brother Jie are on," Situ Xin reminded the three elders.
Upon hearing Situ Xin’s words, Old Deng, Old Master Loo, and Old Master Situ picked up the documents once more and carefully examined the information on those officials. As they looked closer, they were shocked.
After reading, Old Master Situ jumped up from his seat. Pointing at the documents, he looked at Situ Xin in disbelief, "Baby, are you saying that the specific operational plan for the mission your Brother Che and Brother Jie are on was set by him?"
"I’ve asked The Dark Division to investigate, but the results haven’t come out yet. However, based on my speculation, it’s likely to be the case," Situ Xin said solemnly. On her way back from school, she had called Xiang Yang to have him look into it.
"If it’s as you suspect, then this special forces mission is entirely within the enemy’s plans," Old Deng said gravely, tapping on the table.
"We can only wait for the results now to be certain if it’s as we suspect and decide on what to do next." The thought occurred to Situ Xin that her associates from The Dark Division, who were on standby at the southern border, might reveal themselves, advising Situ Che and Loo Jie, and those on the mission, to pause or change their tactics upon realizing that their mission might already have been accounted for in the enemy’s plans.
However, she dismissed the idea. If it really was as Situ Xin suspected, Situ Che and his team’s actions, even if not approved by the command, might be overlooked. But if her speculations were wrong, then any unauthorized change in tactics could lead to severe repercussions for Situ Che and Loo Jie, potentially affecting their future political paths.
So, the thought merely flashed through Situ Xin’s mind before she rejected it.
"All we can do now is wait for accurate information from The Dark Division." The elders were growing increasingly anxious; if Situ Xin’s speculation was correct, then the special forces operatives on the mission were in grave danger.
"Baby, maybe you should hurry The Dark Division along?" Old Master Situ, worried about his grandson’s perilous situation, was struggling to remain composed.
"There’s no need to rush them, Old Master Situ. As soon as The Dark Division has any news, they’ll surely contact us immediately." Despite also being worried—his own grandson was involved in the mission—Old Master Loo managed to maintain a slightly calmer demeanor.
Just as Old Master Loo finished speaking, Situ Xin’s phone began to ring. The sound drew the focused gaze of all three elders onto Situ Xin, who quickly picked up the phone to answer.
