"Uh, boss. It was me who heard your phone ringing just now, and I was afraid I wouldn’t have time to bring it to you, so I picked it up," Xiao Tao began, organizing her thoughts. "The person on the other end told me to give you a message, to get down to the company entrance within two minutes, or you can kiss the company goodbye. They also said I should go down with you."

By this time, Loo Jianxin had already taken the phone from Xiao Tao’s hand and was looking through the call log. When he saw that phone number, his heart screamed, "Oh no." With that, he grabbed the phone and ran out of the office.

As for Xiao Tao, her following Loo Jianxin downstairs might have been motivated by different thoughts. Consumed with wondering why Situ Xin was coming to the company, Loo Jianxin didn’t notice that she was taking the elevator reserved for him.

When the elevator doors opened, everyone’s gaze shifted from Situ Xin to the new secretary who’d just exited the elevator with the boss. Suddenly, their expressions changed to surprise. They’d often speculated among themselves about who would be the first woman to break the rule and emerge from the boss’s private elevator. They never imagined it would be this new secretary.

Xiao Lili, in particular, had a jealous glint in her eyes as she watched Xiao Tao walk out of the elevator with Loo Jianxin. A closer look would reveal that Xiao Lili seemed ready to lunge forward, grab Xiao Tao by the hair, and drag her away from Loo Jianxin.

When the elevator doors opened, Loo Jianxin’s eyes immediately found Situ Xin, holding Baibai. He focused all his attention on Situ Xin, utterly oblivious to the gazes coming his way.

It was Xiao Tao who noticed the stares. She was aware of the discussions that had taken place, as she had once been part of them, and now she herself had broken the boss’s rule. Seeing the shock and envy in people’s eyes, she couldn’t help but feel pleased with herself.

But Situ Xin’s face darkened when she saw Loo Jianxin stepping out of the private elevator with a young woman. She suspected that her uncle, despite his denials, was once again fooling around behind her aunt’s back. The last misunderstanding had already lowered Situ Xin’s opinion of Loo Jianxin, and she had given him the cold shoulder for a while.

It was only after Loo Jianxin humbled himself and pleaded for forgiveness that Situ Xin grudgingly forgave him. During that time, when he had upset the family darling, Situ Xin, he had faced reproachful looks from everyone at home. Even his little son had refused to deal with him.

"Baby, why didn’t you call me in advance so I could pick you up?" said Loo Jianxin as he rushed to Situ Xin, his voice laced with a plea.

"Call you ahead of time, so you could tidy up some unsightly business?" Situ Xin’s suspicion had deepened after seeing Loo Jianxin emerge from the private elevator with Xiao Tao, convinced he was up to no good again.

As far as Situ Xin was aware, since that elevator had been in use, Loo Jianxin had declared it off-limits to anyone but his family and partners – a rule that apparently had an exception today.

That was why everyone was so astounded to see the new secretary Xiao Tao emerge from that elevator.

"Baby, what are you talking about?" Loo Jianxin was a bit confused by what his niece was implying. But seeing the rare anger on Situ Xin’s face made him tense up. Situ Xin seldom showed her irritation, especially at home.

Although Loo Jianxin didn’t know exactly what had angered his cherished niece, he dared not take it lightly. He softened his voice and quietly asked, "Baby, what’s wrong? Who has made you angry? Tell your uncle, and I’ll go and set them straight."

"Uncle, are you sure you want to help me set them straight?" Situ Xin looked intently into Loo Jianxin’s eyes as she asked.

Loo Jianxin, feeling uneasy, was about to speak when Situ Xin cut him off. "Uncle, may I ask, was it her who answered your phone for you?" Situ Xin frowned as she watched Xiao Tao approach, twisting her waist in what she considered an elegant and sexy manner, and questioned Loo Jianxin.

Loo Jianxin followed Situ Xin’s gaze. "Yes, it was her. I was in a meeting and forgot my phone in the office. She just answered a call." As he spoke, a thought flashed through Loo Jianxin’s mind that perhaps what had upset Situ Xin was his secretary answering his phone. So, he offered an explanation on the spot.

However, his explanation did nothing to ease Situ Xin’s frown; in fact, it only deepened. "What is her role, that she can enter and leave your office so freely? And who gave her the authority to touch, let alone answer, her superior’s phone? Uncle, is this how you run your company, just hiring anyone you please? What do you think this place is?"

Situ Xin did not lower her voice, so everyone in the lobby heard her words. Xiao Tao had initially intended to approach Loo Jianxin, but after hearing Situ Xin’s questioning, a bad premonition settled in her heart.

"My previous secretary took leave to have a baby, and she is my new secretary, recommended by the former one. I’m aware that what she did was inappropriate, but I haven’t had the chance to reprimand her yet," said Loo Jianxin, conscious not to raise his voice at Situ Xin after the last incident.
