Chapter 330: Chapter 330 Military Training (3)_1
Situ Xin shook her head, then said to the few boys and girls, "You should go train."
After they left, Situ Xin no longer felt like continuing to the training field. She said she was tired. Then, amidst everyone’s worried gazes, she returned to her office in The Dark Division.
Ever since encountering those people, Situ Xin had been trying to build herself up mentally, comforting herself continuously. But for the next few days, she was listless, unable to summon any energy for anything. Even the embroidery and sewing she usually had at hand were thrown aside.
The state of Situ Xin had the Situ Family and the Loo Family very anxious. If not for Situ Xin’s objections, Old Master Situ and Old Master Loo would have insisted on taking her to the hospital for a check-up to see if she was unwell somewhere.
Even Baibai, seeing Situ Xin’s condition, was deeply worried. "Master, some things, once past, should be left in the past, you shouldn’t be so fixated. If you can’t get over this hurdle in your heart, it might become your Heart Demon someday."
"I know." Situ Xin was well aware of what Baibai had said, but she still couldn’t let go of her resentment towards those two people. "Forget it, I should find something to do. Maybe if I have something to do, I won’t keep thinking about this."
"Baibai, it’s already 2001, isn’t it?" Situ Xin, who had been lying on Baibai, suddenly sat up and asked.
Baibai, upon hearing Situ Xin’s question, rolled his eyes speechlessly, "Master, do you really need to ask me such a basic question?"
"I just wanted to confirm with you," Situ Xin also felt her question was somewhat redundant. "If I remember correctly, something big is supposed to happen this year in 2001. It’s already July, so September isn’t far away, and neither is that event," she mused to herself.
"Master, what are you talking about?" Baibai didn’t understand at all what Situ Xin was referring to.
"Baibai, do you know about 911?" Situ Xin suddenly asked, out of curiosity to see if Baibai was aware of events from a previous life. Baibai shook his head after hearing Situ Xin’s words, "Master, what is 911?"
"You don’t know? Well, even if I told you now, you still wouldn’t know," Situ Xin decided not to elaborate since Baibai was unaware. After the event happened, Baibai would naturally come to know.
Situ Xin hadn’t planned to reveal the 9/11 incident beforehand. Although she didn’t want to see such a tragedy happen, even if she warned the government of Country M about 9/11 in advance, it’s not likely that they would believe a young girl from Country H; they might even think she was delusional, suffering from paranoid fantasies.
Even if some people believed her, Situ Xin still wouldn’t choose to speak out. She was selfish; she wasn’t that noble to sacrifice her family for the sake of others. She knew that if she disclosed the 9/11 event and it really happened on that day, she couldn’t bear to imagine what would await her and her family.
The reason Situ Xin recalled the 9/11 incident was also related to money. When she put forth money for her uncle, Loo Jianxin, to invest in the newly emerging domestic stock market, she didn’t forget about other countries’ markets.
To Situ Xin, making money from her own country wasn’t the main goal; it felt more exhilarating to earn money from other nations.
At that time, due to the limited funds available to Situ Xin and Loo Jianxin, they couldn’t invest a lot in both places. After much deliberation, Situ Xin recalled a particular stock in Country M with a huge potential rise, a stock that had a long history of experience. In contrast, the bull market in Country H’s stock market only lasted a few short years.
Situ Xin decided to first invest the money in her country’s stock market, let it circulate there, and then extract it to invest in Country M’s stock market.
When Loo Jianxin made a handsome profit in his own country’s stock market, and before he could reinvest the warmed-up funds, Situ Xin ordered all of it to be invested in Country M’s market.
Loo Jianxin was hesitant at the time; he knew that the stock market in Country M was not like the nascent one in their country - the waters were much deeper in Country M, and it was easy to drown if not careful. Loo Jianxin wanted to persuade the still-young Situ Xin to abandon the idea.
But no sooner had he begun speaking than he was berated by Old Master Loo, who accused him of undermining socialism and only knowing how to make money in his own country. Old Master Loo’s rant boiled down to a simple point: you had the guts to venture into Country H’s stock market despite the risks, so why fear now? The worst-case scenario is you lose all the money.
Loo Jianxin was at a loss for words after being scolded by his old man. The old Master didn’t know that at that time, Loo Jianxin’s boldness was partly due to his optimism about their domestic financial market and partly because the amount he initially invested was so small. There was no comparison with the figures he was dealing with now.
Loo Jianxin wanted to discuss with his old man about possibly investing less, but before he could finish speaking, Old Master Loo decisively ended the discussion, stating that it was not his decision to make and instructed him to follow Situ Xin’s directions fully.
At the sound of his old man’s decision, his face fell. Listening to Situ Xin amounted to putting all of his wealth on the line. As Loo Jianxin reluctantly turned to look at Situ Xin, he saw a triumphant smile on her face, making him want to approach and pinch her cheeks in frustration. But he only dared to imagine the act; if he really went through with it, he would likely become the public enemy of both families.
Right up until his departure to Country M, Loo Jianxin tried incessantly to persuade Situ Xin to abandon the idea of investing all the money in Country M’s stock market, but each attempt was rejected with a shake of her head. And just as Loo Jianxin was about to leave for the airport, Situ Xin told him to buy into only one stock – Jones Industry.
Hearing Situ Xin’s instructions, Loo Jianxin was stunned on the spot. All that money, invested in just one stock? That was like staking all their bets on a single share. If that stock plummeted, they would have no chance of recovery.
