Chapter 189: Chapter 189 Tea (1)_1
The first exam was in Chinese Literature. Situ Xin picked up her pen as soon as she got the exam paper and wrote fervently. The Chinese exam wasn’t very difficult, and within about an hour and a half, she had completed the entire paper.
However, she didn’t want to draw too much attention to herself, so she didn’t hand in her paper immediately after finishing. Instead, she spaced out at her desk—in fact, she was killing time by reviewing the knowledge from the Jade Token in her mind.
The second exam was in Mathematics, which proved to be more difficult than the usual practice papers that Situ Xin and the rest had worked on. However, it was still within the scope of their studies. For an average student, the paper was somewhat challenging, yet for Situ Xin, with the soul of an adult, it was a piece of cake.
It took Situ Xin just an hour to finish the entire math exam. As she looked up after completing the paper, she suddenly heard Liang Ruobing’s faint voice, "Jiang Chao, give me the answers to the fill-in-the-blank questions."
Liang Ruobing was seated diagonally in front of Situ Xin, and when she looked up, she could see Liang Ruobing slightly tilting her head toward the boy next to her. That boy, recognized by Situ Xin, was a classmate of theirs. She remembered him because the girls in the class had casually mentioned that this boy, named Jiang Chao, was courting Liang Ruobing, showing a never-say-die attitude.
Jiang Chao, upon hearing Liang Ruobing’s request, took out a piece of tissue paper from his pocket. Then, glancing at the proctoring teachers to make sure they weren’t paying attention, he hastily copied the answers onto the tissue.
Once he noticed the teachers weren’t looking their way, he quickly threw the paper towards Liang Ruobing’s feet. This entire episode was witnessed by Situ Xin, who frowned subtly upon seeing this, then lowered her head, deciding to turn a blind eye.
But this scene, not only observed by Situ Xin but also one of the exam proctors in their room, first pretended not to notice. When Liang Ruobing picked up the tissue thrown by Jiang Chao and before she could unfold it, the teacher had already reached her side and confiscated the tissue from her hand.
Situ Xin saw both Liang Ruobing and Jiang Chao’s faces turn pale in an instant, while the proctor held the tissue with the answers on it and, without a word, went back to the podium.
Situ Xin knew that even if Liang Ruobing and Jiang Chao weren’t given zeroes for the exam, their scores for this subject wouldn’t be high, and it would also affect their performance in the subsequent exams.
After finishing the last exam, Situ Xin walked out of the examination hall and when she reached the school gates, the family car was already waiting for her. As usual, she opened the door and got in, only to see Old Master Situ and Old Master Loo inside the car. "Grandpa, Grandad? Why have you come?" Situ Xin had worked hard to convince her family not to accompany her for the exams. Yet, on the last day of exams, her grandfather and grandad had shown up.
"Baby, you’ve finished your exams, haven’t you? How did it go?" Old Master Situ asked after seeing that Situ Xin’s complexion was normal, prompted by a signal from Old Master Loo.
"Not too bad, I suppose. There shouldn’t be any problem getting into high school," Situ Xin replied while getting into the car.
After the final exams, Situ Xin’s class talked about having a grand celebration. Although Situ Xin, Situ Jin, Xiao Muli, and Yu Qihao weren’t particularly close with everyone else in class, due to being included in a previous gathering, the class representative still approached them, "We have a gathering the day after tomorrow. Will you guys join us?"
As soon as the class representative spoke, Situ Jin and the other two turned towards Situ Xin. Situ Jin said, "You should ask my sister; we’ll follow her lead." Xiao Muli and Yu Qihao nodded in agreement.
Situ Xin wasn’t particularly interested in the gathering and was about to decline, but before she could speak up, the class representative added, "This time we’re planning to go to Broadway, which is quite famous in Capital City."
Upon hearing "Broadway," Situ Xin swallowed the refusal that was on the tip of her tongue. "Fine, let me know the time, and we’ll be there," she said, having changed her mind at the last moment.
Previously, Broadway belonged to the Green Tiger Gang, but after their leader pledged allegiance to Situ Xin and then returned to The South, all of the gang’s Capital City interests were transferred to Situ Xin’s name. Now that Broadway was under Situ Xin’s ownership, she had entrusted Xia Yujie and Liu Yuxiang to manage it, but the venue’s revenue still belonged to Situ Xin.
Since taking over Broadway, Situ Xin had initiated a renovation but hadn’t visited the place since. This gathering provided a timely excuse for her to inspect the venue’s operations.
Broadway had completely transformed from its previous incarnation. After taking over, Situ Xin made it clear to Xia Yujie and Liu Yuxiang that Broadway would conduct legitimate business, without drugs or prostitution, operating as a lawful entertainment venue.
And Xia Yujie and Liu Yuxiang, if not exactly hanging on her every word, were pretty close to it.
Broadway now operated on a membership basis, and not just anyone could waltz in—only those with a membership card could enter, though members could bring their friends along.
Getting a Broadway membership card was not easy. An ordinary membership could cost upwards of one hundred thousand a year, and that didn’t include any spending inside—this sum was merely the price of admission.
For a gold card member, the stakes were much higher. Not only would the annual membership fee be five hundred thousand, but there were also certain standards required of the member’s character.
As for the platinum and diamond cards, the criteria were even stricter. To date, not even a full ten gold cards had been issued, and for diamond cards, only Situ Xin, Xia Yujie, and Liu Yuxiang possessed them.
Of course, with different membership levels came different tiers of services within Broadway. There were places inside that only gold card members or higher could access, which ordinary members were not permitted to enter.
Situ Xin was curious about what level of membership card her classmate held.
