Chapter 173: Chapter 173: The Situ Family’s Maid (1)_1
After Old Master Jia finished speaking, he stood up and headed toward the study. Everyone else quickly got to their feet as well, but none gave Ling Ruobing a glance, all moving away. Even her mother, Liang Yuemei, who had always shown her daughter great affection, didn’t spare Ling Ruobing a look, following the others out. This shattered the hopeful heart of Ling Ruobing, who had been watching her mother the entire time.
Originally, Situ Xin thought that Ling Ruobing wouldn’t come to the exam, but to her surprise, when she arrived in the classroom in the morning, she actually saw Ling Ruobing sitting at her own desk. Some girls who had arrived earlier were whispering in pairs or groups, speaking ill of Ling Ruobing.
However, Ling Ruobing showed no reaction to the others’ gossip, and kept her head down, busying herself with her own matters. When Situ Xin and the others arrived, Ling Ruobing lifted her head and looked towards them.
Baibai, inside Situ Xin’s backpack, peeked through the gap and, seeing Ling Ruobing, said with displeasure, "Master, Baibai does not like this woman, she does not look good at all." Situ Xin was somewhat speechless at Baibai’s evaluation of Ling Ruobing, "If you think she’s not pleasing to the eye, just don’t look at her. But I don’t like her much either."
Seeing the look Ling Ruobing cast their way, Situ Jin said dismissively, "This woman couldn’t still be hopeful, could she? She really has a thick face." The volume of Situ Jin’s words was not low, and the classmates in the room had heard. Situ Xin noticed that Ling Ruobing’s expression tightened when she heard what Situ Jin said, but then quickly returned to normal.
Situ Xin didn’t have much interest in Ling Ruobing and walked back to her own desk to prepare for the upcoming exam.
Now in their third year of junior high, Situ Xin and her classmates were required to take more subjects like physics and chemistry. These additional subjects were not a problem for Situ Xin. However, Situ Xin did not like the prolonged duration of the exams.
In Situ Xin’s opinion, all subjects should be done in one day. But since it was a standardized exam, her idea was impossible to realize. She could only follow the schedule like everyone else.
"Phew, it’s finally all over." On the third day of exams, when the chemistry exam was done, and she left the examination hall to return to her classroom, Situ Xin stretched languorously without regard for her image. However, what might have seemed ungraceful if others had done it, seemed indolently charming when Situ Xin did it, making her look rather adorable.
"Baby, how did the exam go?" Situ Jin, looking at his lovely little sister, asked affectionately.
"When have I, Situ Xin, ever failed?" Situ Xin said to Situ Jin with a feigned pride.
"Yes, our Baby is the best." The end of the term exam also meant that it was almost time for vacation. As soon as the homeroom teacher came to the classroom to tell them when to collect their report cards, everyone eagerly grabbed their bags, which were already packed, and rushed out of the classroom.
Just as Situ Xin and her three classmates were about to leave with their backpacks, their class president, Ding Ruolin, came over, blushing slightly as she glanced at the three boys behind Situ Xin, then addressed Situ Xin, "Situ Xin, we’re having a class party before the Chinese New Year, will you come?" As Ding Ruolin approached, many girls in the classroom stopped what they were doing, some looking on with hopeful expressions.
Situ Xin was not close with her classmates because of her actual age, and she did not enjoy hanging out with them. Her family, however, had mistakenly assumed that she simply felt too young to fit in with them.
After listening to the class president Ding Ruolin, and seeing the hopeful looks of the other classmates, Situ Xin turned and looked at the three boys behind her, "Do you guys want to go?"
"You decide," Situ Jin said, reaching out to touch Situ Xin’s hair.
"Yeah, Xiao Xin, you make the call, we’ll listen to you," Yu Qihao said, his expression hinting that the decision was hers. Even the usually quiet Xiao Muli softened his expression considerably when Situ Xin looked at him, "I’ll go with what you say."
Situ Xin actually wanted to decline the invitation using the others as her excuse. However, her well-played scheme fell apart as no one responded as she had hoped. After seeing the hopeful gaze of the class president, Situ Xin reluctantly swallowed her refusal and said, "We’ll go."
Upon hearing Situ Xin’s reply, everyone’s face lit up with joy, and the class president Ding Ruolin let out a sigh of relief, then cheerfully said, "Alright, I’ll let you know the details once we’ve set a specific time."
After leaving the classroom, Situ Xin couldn’t help but complain to the three boys, "Really, why didn’t you just refuse when I asked? Now look, we have to attend the class party."
"Hehe, didn’t we let you decide? If you didn’t want to, you could have refused," Situ Jin said in a good mood.
"Hmph, refuse, I wanted to, but their expressions made it so hard to say no, I literally choked on my words," Situ Xin glared at them and said.
As soon as Situ Xin, holding Baibai, entered the house with Situ Jin, they heard Old Master Situ talking to Old Master Loo, "I say, Old Lu, what should we give for Old Yu’s birthday banquet this time?"
"Just received the invitation, haven’t thought about it yet," Old Master Loo pondered before replying.
"Grandpa, Grandma, Grandad, Granny, hello." As soon as Situ Xin entered, she put Baibai down on the floor, then went around to each elderly person, affectionately fussing over them, before finding a place to sit. As soon as Situ Xin sat down, Baibai automatically jumped into her lap.
Situ Jin, however, respectfully greeted all four elders before putting down both his and Situ Xin’s backpacks and sitting beside her.
"Finished with exams?" A smile would always appear on Old Master Situ’s face whenever he saw Situ Xin.
"Yeah, all done, it was so tiring," said Situ Xin, sitting on the couch without any pretense.
"How did it go?" Old Master Loo asked out of habit – it’s the same for all parents, the first thing they want to know after an exam is how it went. However, before Situ Xin could answer, Old Madam Loo glared at her husband and scolded, "How can you be a grandfather like this? The kids are so tired from the exams, how can you ask them such a question?"
