Chapter 165: Chapter 165: As the Water Recedes, the Rocks Emerge (3)_1
"You." Old Master Jia gazed at the seemingly innocent face, yet the words coming out of that mouth enraged him to the verge of blowing smoke out of his seven orifices. His lips quivered, and he finally let out a single word.
And upon hearing Situ Xin’s words, Jia Zhengce was so shocked, he stared at Situ Xin as if he had seen a ghost. He knew his reputation outside wasn’t great, but as for keeping a mistress and having an illegitimate child, nobody outside knew about that. Otherwise, how would his legitimate wife have let him off? You must know, his wife was born into a noble family.
"What’s the matter? Surprised that I would know about these things, huh? I’ll have you know that I have detailed records of all the deeds you Jia Family get up to behind closed doors," Situ Xin said, her innocent expression suddenly turning serious. "The slander you’ve fabricated against our Situ Family, I expect you to clear it up before tomorrow. If you don’t clear it up by tomorrow, then just wait for the Jia Family’s downfall." While saying this, Situ Xin’s eyes were filled with coldness, instilling fear into Old Master Jia, Jia Zhengce, and Jia Zhengxin.
Old Master Jia, who had been on the battlefield, felt fear for the first time in many years, a fear that welled up from the bottom of his heart. Unbeknownst to him, this was due to the imposing aura Situ Xin had intentionally released, prompting such an intense fear. This was, after all, the sorrow of the weak in the face of the strong.
After Situ Xin finished speaking, her family prepared to leave. But before they could take a step out, two individuals who shouldn’t have been there appeared in the hospital. Liang Yuemei, supported by her daughter Liang Ruobing, walked in.
And Liang Yuemei, who already had a bit of a Sister Lin vibe to her, looked even more frail after yesterday’s blow. But with her aged appearance, it was impossible to feel any pity for her.
Upon her entrance, Liang Yuemei locked her expressive eyes onto Situ Haoran, but Situ Haoran turned away and walked over to his wife Liu Qian, wrapping an arm around her slender waist.
Seeing this, mist began to form in Liang Yuemei’s eyes, prompting Situ Xin to inwardly comment that it was a pity Liang Yuemei didn’t become an actress.
Before Liang Yuemei could speak, Situ Che stepped forward, blocking the gaze she directed toward his father. He then said with a face as handsome as Situ Haoran’s, "Auntie, please mind your image." Although the paternity report was out and it was now clear there was no relation between Liang Yuemei and his father, he felt very uncomfortable seeing a woman looking at his father with that kind of gaze.
When Liang Ruobing supported Liang Yuemei as they walked in, everyone’s eyes turned toward them, including Jia Zhengce. His eyes widened the moment he saw Liang Yuemei enter.
Clearly, Jia Zhengce recognized Liang Yuemei. Even though she looked much older now and lacked her previous delicate beauty, her appearance was still instantly recognizable.
Having noticed Jia Zhengce’s expression, Situ Haotian spoke up, "I think, you must be acquainted with this comrade, don’t you?" Situ Haotian’s voice was none too quiet, drawing the attention of Liang Yuemei and Liang Ruobing.
When Liang Yuemei saw Jia Zhengce, she recognized him, but she was unaware of what had happened between them. So apart from being surprised at running into someone she knew here, she felt nothing else. After listening to Situ Haotian, she continued, "Is that Comrade Jia Zhengce? We used to serve in the same military unit. He hasn’t changed a bit from back then. But, he probably doesn’t recognize me anymore."
Liang Yuemei’s words left Old Master Jia’s and Jia Zhengxin’s faces much paler. Their investigations hadn’t unearthed any data about Liang Yuemei knowing Jia Zhengce. The hearts of father and son sank, and they began to believe in the paternity report they held in their hands.
After listening to Liang Yuemei, Jia Zhengce forced an awkward smile and said nothing, even though cold sweat had begun to form on his body.
"By the way, Auntie, next time you want to find a father for your daughter, please don’t come to our Situ Family again. Our Situ Family has absolutely no relation to your daughter," Situ Jin stood next to Situ Xin, holding her hand, and spoke leisurely, as if discussing something very mundane.
Upon hearing Situ Jin’s words, Liang Yuemei and Liang Ruobing turned their heads to look at Situ Haoran, but before the mother and daughter could speak, Situ Jin continued, "Because Auntie, your daughter’s biological father is over there—a certain Uncle Jia Zhengce. Remember this, and please don’t make the mistake of approaching the wrong person again. Our entire family is very busy, and we certainly don’t have time to deal with these murky affairs." Towards the end, Situ Jin’s tone became more serious.
"What do you mean by that?" shouted Liang Yuemei, rushing to his side and grabbing his arm, after hearing Situ Jin’s words. Her emotions were a little out of control. The way she charged at Situ Jin had a mad edge to it.
This frightened everyone, as they feared Liang Yuemei might do something crazy.
Situ Xin had already started to channel the spiritual energy within her body the moment Liang Yuemei rushed forward. If Liang Yuemei lost her senses and tried to harm her brother, she was ready to strike Liang Yuemei away in an instant.
Before Situ Jin could reply, Situ Xin answered, "It means that your daughter Liang Ruobing is not my uncle Situ Haoran’s daughter but that of Jia Zhengce. How about that, is it clear now? If you don’t believe it, Old Master Jia has the paternity test report, which you can take and see for yourself." Situ Xin spoke in a cold tone, her gaze towards Liang Yuemei even colder. "And please, let go of my brother."
As Situ Xin spoke, Liang Yuemei turned her head, looking at Situ Xin with a blank stare. In that dazed moment, Situ Xin reached out and pulled her brother Situ Jin to her other side, rescuing him from Liang Yuemei’s grasp. In truth, there was no rescuing involved. With just a gesture from Situ Jin, even if Liang Yuemei had gone mad, she wouldn’t have been able to harm him in the slightest.
