Chapter 156: Chapter 156: The Illegitimate Daughter (3)_1

"Baibai, don’t be impulsive. I’ll definitely deal with them properly, but not now," Situ Xin revealed a wicked smile at the corner of her mouth.

By the time Situ Xin arrived at the Jia Family residence, it was already late. The conversation between Old Master Jia and Jia Zhengtao was drawing to a close, as heard from Old Master Jia’s words, "Alright, it’s getting late. Let’s stop here for today."

No sooner had Old Master Jia finished speaking than the lights in the room snapped off with a "click," and the room was plunged into darkness.

Situ Xin waited outside until everything inside had quieted down before she and Baibai teleported into Old Master Jia’s study. She took out two espionage devices from her space, casually fixing one to the underside of a bookshelf in the study and attaching the other to the telephone in Old Master Jia’s study.

The device she mounted on the phone had been modified by Situ Xin, even smaller than the previous models, and without the machine she had developed, it was generally impossible to detect the existence of these espionage devices.

After installing the devices, Situ Xin began a meticulous search of Old Master Jia’s study to see if there was any evidence he had left behind. But Old Master Jia was extraordinarily cautious and crafty; aside from books and writing materials, there was nothing else in his study.

Seeing no evidence, Situ Xin felt a twinge of disappointment.

After leaving the Jia residence, Situ Xin didn’t go home but instead went straight to the place where Xia Yujie and Liu Yuxiang lived. These days, Xia Yujie and Liu Yuxiang would only head to the Dragon Society headquarters if there was an urgent matter or if Situ Xin called them to go. Otherwise, they trained at their residence.

Upon seeing Situ Xin, surprise flashed across the faces of Xia Yujie and Liu Yuxiang. "Master, what brings you here?" Liu Yuxiang, when facing Situ Xin, was as simple-minded as ever. However, against Situ Xin, Liu Yuxiang would restrain his cunning nature. When dealing with others, he was not an easy person to handle.

"What, can’t I come?" Situ Xin teased Liu Yuxiang on purpose.

"That’s not what I meant. It’s just that usually, Master, you would call before coming, but today you didn’t, so I was just a little curious," Liu Yuxiang hurriedly explained, fearing that Situ Xin might misunderstand him.

"Alright, the young lady was just teasing you," Xia Yujie shook his head, knowing how shrewd Liu Yuxiang usually was, always outsmarting others. He had never been as straightforward as he was now. "Young lady, you’re here today for the Jia Family, Liang Yuemei, and Liang Ruobing’s matter, right?" Xia Yujie turned to look at Situ Xin and asked.

After years of association, Xia Yujie knew Situ Xin very well. He was aware that her family was her Achilles’ heel.

"Yes, I’m here to collect some information. How did it go?" The investigation into the Jia Family, Liang Yuemei, and Liang Ruobing was only notified to Xia Yujie at around 5 or 6 in the afternoon, so he wasn’t sure if he had gathered their information yet.

"Here, this is all of it. We already had information on the Jia Family; this time we just had people investigate the Jia Family’s relationship with the Situ Family. As for Liang Yuemei and Liang Ruobing, it took some effort to collect their information, as these two don’t often mix in public affairs," Xia Yujie explained as he handed over the information to Situ Xin. "By the way, young lady, I’m concerned that the information on Liang Yuemei and Liang Ruobing might not be complete, so I’ve ordered further investigation into the two," Xia Yujie added.

"Good, well done," Situ Xin nodded in satisfaction. While flipping through the information Xia Yujie handed her, she asked, "By the way, how’s your recovery coming along?"

Xia Yujie’s gunshot wound had healed in just a few days with the help of Situ Xin’s elixirs and food cooked with Spirit Grass. Worried about the affairs of the Dragon Society, Xia Yujie had checked himself out of the hospital early. Thankfully, Situ Xin’s elixirs sustained him, preventing his health from deteriorating.

"The recovery is going very well. Thank you for saving me yet again, young lady," Xia Yujie dropped his smile and thanked Situ Xin earnestly.

"Yujie, why be so formal with me? Even though you call me young lady, I’ve always considered you and Xiang as my friends, companions. So, don’t say such formal things in the future." Through the years of cooperation and interaction, Situ Xin’s feelings toward Xia Yujie and Liu Yuxiang had evolved.

Hearing Situ Xin’s words caused a surge of emotion in both Liu Yuxiang and Xia Yujie; they hadn’t expected to hold such a place in her heart.

"Oh, by the way, here’s some ointment and elixirs for you. Apply this ointment to the wound once a day, and after a few days, the scar will be gone. These elixirs will help you recover your energy, which was depleted from the injury—even though you’ve healed nicely, your vitality has been impacted, so use this elixir for recuperation," Situ Xin handed over the elixirs and ointment she had prepared beforehand but hadn’t had the chance to deliver.

This gesture from Situ Xin unintentionally moved Xia Yujie deeply once more, reaffirming his dedication to her. "Thank you, young lady."

"Ah, Master, you’re playing favorites, aren’t you? Why only give them to Ah Jie? What about your disciple here, why don’t I get anything?" Liu Yuxiang feigned envy while watching Situ Xin give the elixirs and ointment to Xia Yujie, even taking the ointment from Xia Yujie’s hand and sniffing it, "Hmm, it really smells good. Master, is this ointment truly miraculous, capable of removing the scars on Ah Jie’s body?"

"There you go, making a fuss as if you’re left out. Here, take this, it’s for you," Situ Xin handed the specially prepared elixir to Liu Yuxiang, which would benefit his Inner Strength training during a crucial breakthrough period. "Eat this before you practice; it will greatly help your breakthrough," she suggested as she pointed to the ointment in Liu Yuxiang’s hand, "That’s right, have I ever lied to you? This ointment is a beauty miracle. Speaking of beauty, I’ve been so busy recently that I’ve put off opening a beauty salon. When I’m done with my current tasks, I need to schedule that."

After giving them some instructions, Situ Xin didn’t linger at Xia Yujie and Liu Yuxiang’s place and headed home.
