Situ Xin found it strange that someone would transfer at the end of the term. She wasn’t the only one; murmurs spread through the classroom following the teacher’s announcement. Even Situ Jin, Xiao Muli, and Yu Qihao exchanged glances, their thoughts known only to themselves.

"Okay, everyone, please settle down," the homeroom teacher silenced the class and then turned to signal the new student to come inside.

The girl who walked in appeared quite demure, eliciting an immediate impression of Sister Lin. After one glance, Situ Xin lost interest, as she had little patience for that type of delicate, sickly beauty.

Even Situ Jin, Xiao Muli, and Yu Qihao glanced quickly at the new girl then lowered their heads to focus on their own work, though many of the boys in the class seemed enraptured by the newcomer, their eyes shining.

"Student, please introduce yourself to the class," the homeroom teacher, looking somewhat displeased, gestured for the new student to come up and introduce herself. The teacher was not happy about the sudden addition to her class, especially since the transfer student’s academic performance was not particularly good. While the student’s grades might be considered above average in another class, they would only serve to drag down the performance in this one.

"Hello, everyone. My name is Liang Ruobing. I look forward to getting to know all of you," said Liang Ruobing in a timid voice that matched her appearance, making Situ Xin break out in goosebumps again.

Noticing Situ Xin’s reaction, Xiao Muli leaned in with concern and whispered, "Xiao Xin, what’s wrong?"

"Nothing, I’m just allergic to this Liang Ruobing. I’m getting goosebumps all over," Situ Xin replied, continuously stroking one arm with the other hand, an adorable gesture that caused the corners of Xiao Muli’s mouth to turn up.

Situ Xin had felt a gaze on her since Liang Ruobing entered the classroom, a gaze that seemed to dart towards her now and then. Seizing the chance to look up, Situ Xin met Liang Ruobing’s eyes, which were filled with a mix of envy and mostly jealousy.

Liang Ruobing hastily offered a flattering smile when she noticed Situ Xin looking at her, but Situ Xin quickly turned away, her disapproval of Liang Ruobing growing with a frown.

"Alright, Liang Ruobing, you can sit next to Yao Mengqi," the homeroom teacher directed after scanning the classroom and pointing to one of the only two open seats. The other vacant seat was to Situ Xin’s left; her brother Situ Jin sat on her right, and the left seat was kept empty on purpose for Situ Xin to place her belongings.

"Teacher Jin, may I sit in that spot?" Liang Ruobing asked, pointing to the empty seat to Situ Xin’s left, her face hopeful.

Teacher Jin frowned at Liang Ruobing’s presumptuous request. Nobody in the class dared to go against her wishes, except, of course, for Situ Xin’s group of four.

Before Teacher Jin could respond, Situ Jin, hearing Liang Ruobing’s request, said in a very displeased tone, "No, you don’t have the privilege to sit next to my sister’s seat." His icy tone made the classroom atmosphere chill.

Upon hearing Situ Jin’s words, Liang Ruobing’s eyes reddened and her timid face, combined with her frail appearance, instantly stirred feelings of pity—although Situ Jin and his group were exempt from such sentiments. Even Teacher Jin disliked Liang Ruobing’s act.
