Chapter 147: Chapter 147 Solving (3)_1

He looked at Situ Xin and had a fleeting thought that everything happening today seemed connected to the little girl sitting on White Tiger, but then, he dismissed the idea. He convinced himself he was just too tired, resulting in such thoughts. After all, how could such a young girl possess such scheming?

The operation that evening had gone smoothly. They had managed to capture all the gang leaders plotting against the Dragon Society, and they had also successfully smashed the territories of these gangs.

Not only that, originally, Situ Xin had planned to take over these small gangs after detaining and interrogating their leaders. However, to their surprise, before they could act, those small gangs in Capital City, learning of their leaders’ capture, either disbanded or pledged allegiance to the Dragon Society, with their assets falling into Dragon Society’s lap. In no time, the Dragon Society had grown not insignificantly, and the remaining gang leaders in Capital City had come one after the other to express their allegiance.

Utilizing the medicinal powder he had developed, Situ Xin made Du Pengfei obediently spill everything he knew. And just as Situ Xin had guessed, all of this was the meddling of Country Y.

The firearms and ammunition found under Du Pengfei’s control were supplied by Country Y’s military. They propped up Du Pengfei’s Green Tiger Gang solely to create chaos in Country H’s underworld and exploit the situation for their own benefit.

After interrogating Du Pengfei, Situ Xin instructed Liu Yuxiang to keep him detained for now, as she still had uses for him.

The evening after dealing with the Green Tiger Gang and those other small gangs in the Capital City, Situ Xin went to the hospital to visit Xia Yujie. Unlike her high-profile visit to Broadway the previous day, she arrived at the hospital more discreetly, alighting from Baibai, who she’d then asked to shrink in size.

When Situ Xin arrived at Xia Yujie’s hospital room, Liu Yuxiang was already there, updating Xia Yujie on the events of the previous night. As Situ Xin entered the room, she saw Xia Yujie excitedly saying something.

"Ah, are we holding a speech conference here?" Situ Xin entered the room, and noticing that there was no one else besides Xia Yujie and Liu Yuxiang, she casually removed her cap.

"Master, you’re here at last. Ah Jie and I have been waiting for you quite a while," said Liu Yuxiang cheerfully as he stood up upon seeing Situ Xin.

"Miss," said Xia Yujie upon seeing Situ Xin, leaning forward slightly from his bed.

Situ Xin quickly approached, admonishing as she moved, "What are you doing? Lean back properly and don’t move about." As soon as she said this, Xia Yujie very obediently stopped moving.

Situ Xin came over to check Xia Yujie’s pulse, and after doing so, she nodded and said, "Good, the recovery is impressive." Seeing that Xia Yujie was doing well, Situ Xin could finally let go of the worry she’d been carrying.

"Hee hee, Ah Jie’s recovery isn’t just impressive, it’s incredible. Master, you wouldn’t believe it - when the hospital’s doctor came for Ah Jie’s check-up, he just could not stop frowning and kept muttering, ’Impossible, impossible,’" Liu Yuxiang babbled non-stop. "I bet if he weren’t wary of Ah Jie’s status, he’d be tempted to re-open his wounds just to take a peek."

"Miss, I have to thank you this time. If it hadn’t been for you, I surely would have been in greater peril," said Xia Yujie, looking at Situ Xin with a grave expression.

"Good that you know. But this is just a one-time thing. I’ve told you before, no matter what you do, you must ensure your own safety," Situ Xin seriously warned, looking into Xia Yujie’s eyes.

"Yes, Miss. I understand. It won’t happen again," Xia Yujie assured Situ Xin. However, he still felt a slight sense of loss inside. He felt that he was still not strong enough to stand beside Situ Xin.

"Alright. Although you were injured this time, you handled the situation quite well overall, showing a great improvement from before," Situ Xin could see the fleeting dip in Xia Yujie’s mood.

"Really?" Xia Yujie’s eyes lit up, and a look of joy spread across his face when he heard Situ Xin’s words.

"When have I ever lied to you? Still, there were some shortcomings. Just pay attention to them next time." After chatting with Xia Yujie and Liu Yuxiang for a while and leaving some elixir for Xia Yujie, Situ Xin took her leave.

Liu Yuxiang left the hospital alongside Situ Xin, and they headed straight to the Dragon Society’s headquarters. Situ Xin’s visit to the headquarters was for Du Pengfei, as she had come to discuss matters with him that day.

"Master, what do you have to discuss with this Du Pengfei? He has committed treason," Liu Yuxiang didn’t think highly of Du Pengfei, and since he wasn’t present during the previous day’s questioning by Situ Xin, he hadn’t been informed of the specific details regarding Du Pengfei.

"He may have committed treason before, but since he hasn’t yet acted against our country, we have to give him a chance to correct his mistakes," Situ Xin said, feeling a bit disingenuous herself. When had she ever been so noble?

Upon reaching the place where Du Pengfei was being held, Situ Xin told Liu Yuxiang to go back first, saying she would go in alone. Although he was reluctant, Liu Yuxiang obeyed his master’s instructions.

The place where Du Pengfei was held was not so much a cell, but a simple room with nothing more than a bed. When Situ Xin opened the door and entered, Du Pengfei, who had been looking down, instinctively looked up.

When he saw Situ Xin standing in the doorway, he was momentarily startled. He had expected Liu Yuxiang and was completely taken aback that the Dragon Society’s young lady had come in his stead. "What are you doing here? Where’s Liu Yuxiang?" Du Pengfei’s voice was a bit hoarse, perhaps from not speaking for so long.

"I’ve come to discuss a matter with you, of course. As for Liu Yuxiang? Do you miss seeing him that much?" Situ Xin eyed Du Pengfei, who sat on the edge of the bed, and mischievously wondered if he had developed an affection for Liu Yuxiang.

"No, I just thought it would be either Liu Yuxiang or Xia Yujie who would interrogate me. What’s a young girl like you doing here?" Du Pengfei spoke with a calm tone, showing no signs of agitation from his detention.
