Chapter 145: Chapter 145 Solving (1)_1
"So that’s what’s going on," Situ Xin said, barely concealing his amusement, "All these gangs gathered together, not to bond over feelings but to discuss how to wipe out our Dragon Society. What’s the matter, Big Boss Du, have you all finished discussing?" After listening to Big Boss Lei ramble on for a while, Liu Yuxiang finally spoke with a sardonic smile. Then Liu Yuxiang stood up, paced over to Du Pengfei’s side, and continued, "I didn’t expect that it was your hired gunman who injured our society’s boss. However, Big Boss Du, I think you might be disappointed this time. Although our boss has a gunshot wound, his life isn’t in danger, and he should be out of the hospital the day after tomorrow. So, it seems your wishful thinking might be wrong."
Upon hearing Liu Yuxiang’s words, Du Pengfei’s heart was anything but calm. He knew just how skilled the sniper he had hired was—a national-level expert. Moreover, after the sniper had successfully ambushed Xia Yujie, he reported back to Du Pengfei that although he hadn’t hit a vital spot, Xia Yujie, if not dead, would have to remain in bed and recuperate for a long time.
It was with this information that he had hastily sought out the other gang leaders to discuss how to take down the Dragon Society.
Seeing the incredulous look in Du Pengfei’s eyes, Liu Yuxiang felt quite pleased as he said, "What’s wrong, Big Boss Du? Don’t believe me? No matter, I’ll take you to see our Dragon Society’s Big Brother in a bit." Liu Yuxiang’s words were full of provocation, clearly stating their purpose for today’s visit. His words caused the other bosses in attendance to start sweating profusely, especially at the sight of the elite members from Dragon Society’s five teams. They were painfully aware of the Dragon Society’s fierce reputation, and the ruthlessness of these elites when dealing with enemies.
After hearing what Liu Yuxiang had said, Du Pengfei communicated with a glance toward a direction inside the private room. He thought no one had noticed his gesture, but Situ Xin caught every detail—he was signaling to the surveillance cameras in the room, indicating that he wanted reinforcements. Situ Xin just smirked at Du Pengfei’s move.
Situ Xin was quite familiar with the Green Tiger Gang by now. It was with backing from certain people that the Green Tiger Gang had grown rapidly in power over the past few years. If this had happened in the South, on the turf of the Green Tiger Gang, Situ Xin would have been more cautious and it would have taken some time to deal with them since her power didn’t extend to the South. However, the situation was quite the opposite—this time, it was the Green Tiger Gang who were on Dragon Society’s territory. Even though the Green Tiger Gang had advanced weaponry compared to other gangs, they paled in comparison to the Dragon Society.
The Dragon Society, especially the elite members of the five teams, were armed with weapons that Situ Xin had designed by combining knowledge from advanced weapons of her previous life with her own enhancements. These were much more powerful than anything the Green Tiger Gang had.
The Green Tiger Gang had evidently done their homework on the Dragon Society, which was why Du Pengfei allied with smaller gangs in Capital City as soon as he arrived.
"Brother Liu, I think there might be a misunderstanding here," said Du Pengfei, softening his tone, knowing that his current situation wasn’t good. It wasn’t the time to confront the Dragon Society head-on. At this moment, he hated Big Boss Lei to death. If it weren’t for the inappropriate timing, he would have grabbed a gun and shot Big Boss Lei on the spot.
"Yeah, Brother Liu, this is surely a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding," the other bosses echoed in agreement. They were regretting why they had even bothered to get involved in this mess. They should never have been so foolish as to listen to Du Pengfei and go against the Dragon Society.
How could they have ignored the strength of the Dragon Society just by listening to Du Pengfei? After all, the Dragon Society was not an adversary their small alliances could handle.
"Whether it’s a misunderstanding or not, I think I’ve made myself quite clear. What, do I need to bring out some evidence?" Liu Yuxiang was here to start trouble, to set things straight with Du Pengfei and his crew.
And Du Pengfei now understood the message in Liu Yuxiang’s words. In fact, as soon as Liu Yuxiang and his group had entered, Du Pengfei had an inkling that they were here to stir up trouble, to seek revenge. However, he hadn’t expected Liu Yuxiang to be so bold as to bring people into his territory to provoke a confrontation.
"Looks like the Dragon Society came well-prepared today," said Du Pengfei, his smile fading and a sharp glint in his eyes. "Since you’ve come prepared, then we, the Green Tiger Gang, cannot afford to lose face on our own turf."
"I wouldn’t say we came ’well-prepared.’ It’s just that we, the Dragon Society, have been bullied, and we should reclaim some face, right?" Liu Yuxiang cockily said. "Since you, Big Boss Du, are also prepared, then this is just perfect. That way, no one on the outside will accuse the Dragon Society of bullying by outnumbering others."
No sooner had Liu Yuxiang finished speaking than they heard a series of footsteps outside the door. Situ Xin judged by the sound that it was roughly eighty or ninety people. Liu Yuxiang and the elite from Dragon Society’s five teams also heard the footsteps and their eyes flickered with contempt.
"Since Big Boss Du has called his people over, why don’t the other bosses here also call some of their own?" Liu Yuxiang suggested, causing the faces of the bosses in attendance to change. They had been invited by Du Pengfei to discuss matters, and since it was Du Pengfei’s territory and not theirs, even if they had brought people with them, they would have only been there for show.
The bosses looked at each other, none of them standing up to speak. Situ Xin glanced at her watch and said, "Yuxiang, we’re running out of time. Why waste words? Let’s get started."
Situ Xin estimated that the Dragon Society’s underlings who had been dispatched should have already taken action by now. So, it was their turn to make a move. "Yes, let’s get started."
Suddenly, Liu Yuxiang’s order prompted the elite members of the Dragon Society to get ready to take action. But just as they were about to start, a series of ringing phones filled the room.
When Situ Xin heard the ringtones, she signaled for the elite members of the Dragon Society to sneak out of the private room while everyone’s attention was on the disruption. They slipped out with the intention of taking care of the Green Tiger Gang members outside. Although they were confident they could overpower them in a direct confrontation, Situ Xin wasn’t one to waste energy when there was a more effortless method available.
