The Rebel's Omega
Chapter 48

Chapter 48: Chapter 48

"Take your hands off me." Hua Ren said to Sheng Fei through gritted teeth the second Rowan was out of earshot. "Now."

Sheng Fei gazed at Hua Ren for some seconds, amused, for Hua Ren’s glare was so cold it could have turned stone to dust but at the same time, he found him unbelievably adorable. The fiestiness in those clear white eyes. He had never been drawn to any Omega as much as he was to Hua Ren and he knew it wasn’t just due to their bond as mates. He felt that even if they weren’t mates, he would find himself falling for the Ivory Warlord.

Apart from being a sight to behold, as an Omega whose strength was on par or even greater than an Alpha’s, he was irresistible. It was only after he fought Hua Ren at the Eternal Grain Valley that he realised he didn’t want a dainty Omega whom he’d have to treat like glass all the time. He wanted an Omega like Hua Ren, someone he could share the battlefield with. Someone he could trust to watch his back no matter the situation.

Gently and slowly, while not breaking eye contact, he rubbed Hua Ren’s waist, his fingers tracing along the spine down the small of his back.

Hua Ren shuddered at the touch, moving closer into Sheng Fei’s embrace. The touch made his knees weak and he had to grip Sheng Fei’s biceps to keep himself up. He glared horridly at Sheng Fei, wanting to complain but before he could let out a word, Sheng Fei retracted his hand, acting as of everything was normal.

Seeing this, Hua Ren swallowed his anger and took a deep breath to calm himself down but he immediately wished he didn’t for all he got was air full of Sheng Fei’s scent.

What the hell was happening!!!

Hua Ren wasn’t the type to curse but at that moment, he was so angry that he shouted a few expletives in his mind then forced himself away from Sheng Fei, trying to act as if he was unaffected.

"You lied just now," he said, voice low with annoyance, trying to divert his mind from the intoxicating scent of pheromones oozing from Sheng Fei. He was really annoyed. He was in a huge room full of Alphas and Betas but all he could smell were Sheng Fei’s pheromones. Why male him a defective Omega when he could smell the pheromones of the person he wanted to avoid the most?

"Lied about what?" Sheng Fei asked, enjoying the reactions form Hua Ren.

"You lied to the Lioncrest Prince." Hua Ren replied.

Sheng Fei smiled, unfazed by the sharpness in Hua Ren’s tone. "So? My lies saved your ass."

Hua Ren’s frown deepened. "Liars cannot be trusted."

Tired of standing, he turned to find a seat but Sheng Fei’s hand shot out, his long fingers curling around Hua Ren’s wrist. "The only thing I lied about are our identities," he said. "And you know that lie was necessary. If it makes you so uncomfortable, feel free to head back and tell Rowan you’re the infamous Ivory Warlord. See what happens after that."

Hua Ren hesitated, knowing Sheng Fei had a point, though it didn’t stop the irritation that bubbled inside him. He hated how Sheng Fei affected him just by being near him. "You said you only lied about our identities," he countered, turning back to face Sheng Fei. "That’s wrong. You also lied about our relationship."

Sheng Fei chuckled, his fingers gently lifting the veil that shielded Hua Ren’s face. "Did I really lie about that, little wife?" he teased, his touch soft as he caressed Hua Ren’s jawline. "We both know marriage is just a formality between mates. I told you before, General. I already consider you mine."

Hua Ren’s breath hitched. The way Sheng Fei’s words were spoken like a challenge sent a shiver down his spine. He could feel his pulse quicken but he refused to show weakness. With a swift motion, he smacked Sheng Fei’s hand away from his face and averted his eyes. "Well, I do not consider myself taken. And watch where you put your hands next time. You might lose them."

Sheng Fei’s lips curled into an amused smirk as he watched Hua Ren stalk toward an empty seat. The keyword in Hua Ren’s words was ’might.’ Loosing his hands was a probability. Unbothered, he followed and sat beside him.

Hua Ren oberved the arena, his eyes scanning the crowd and the stage below. "What exactly do they auction here?" He asked.

"High-grade items." Sheng Fei replied. "At least, that’s what they call them."

Hua Ren was confused. "If they’re just auctioning high-grade items them I should have known about this place. Unless they’re all illegal. Maybe stolen or smuggled from other Kingdoms. "

Sheng Fei chuckled. "Just watch General. You’ll understand very soon."

The auction arena buzzed with excitement as the lanterns dimmed slightly, drawing the crowd’s focus toward the stage below. An older man, perhaps in his late fifties, with a head of graying hair and sharp, calculating eyes, took center stage. His wrinkled face held a sly smile as he raised his hand to quiet the audience. He wore elegant black and silver robes, befitting someone of high status but not overly ostentatious—perfect for his role.

"Welcome, esteemed guests," his voice rang out clearly, cutting through the murmur of the crowd. "Welcome to the Twin Tiger’s 300th aution!"

He was rewarded with resounding cheers and claps.

"Tonight," he continued. "We begin with a few high-grade items, treasures from faraway lands that will surely catch your eye. And now, ladies and gentlemen, the moment you’ve all been waiting for."

With a dramatic wave of his hand, the auction began and a shift occurred in the crowd’s energy. It was subtle at first—a ripple of anticipation running through the spectators, some of them leaning forward in their seats.

The auctioneer’s sly smile widened as two guards stepped onto the stage, dragging with them a small group of young men, all bound in chains. "Prepare your wallets everyone!" He shouted. "And feat your eyes on the first high-grade items!"

Hua Ren felt his blood run cold, his stomach twisting in disgust as a bunch of male omegas were filed out, their heads bowed, dressed in nothing but a pair of shorts. Their wrists were shackled, and the clink of their chains echoed eerily in the large room as they were forced to kneel on the floor, the spectators cheering and clapping.
