The Reaper's Wicked Obsession -
Chapter 269: I’d Make You Queen
Chapter 269: I’d Make You Queen
Isadora watched Kraven, observing the slow rise and fall of his chest, and how his dark lashes fluttered as if he were dreaming.
It made her wonder what kind of dream he had. He looked so peaceful, fast asleep. The Witch helped give him something to relax.
Kraven hadn’t had a wink of sleep for moons, and he hadn’t talked to anyone until Isadora woke up. He isolated himself.
He was depleted after the battle at the Raven Court and never thought about his health. She was worried.
With sad eyes, Isadora stretched her hand, brushing some of the strands of his shaded silver hair away from his forehead, but they bounced right back. She caressed his cheeks, her fingers moving as her light weaves slipped into his head.
Her eyes rolled at the back of her head, and everything went blank.
Isadora stood in total darkness, there was not a spark of light to be seen. But then a sharp ringing sound came through.
She growled, closing her ears as they pulsed from a vibration, pure pain shooting through her until it felt like they would bleed.
She squeezed her eyes shut too, hoping to dull the pain and silence the rings, and then it was gone like a snap of a finger. A light to her face and she was forced to open them.
Isadora stood before a grand marvel, the walls were translucent, and the sky ceilings had details of drawings depicting things she couldn’t explain.
She leveled her eyes, and the scene before her made her blood run cold. Kraven was kneeling before five shadowed figures, and he held onto a dagger tightly.
"No!" Isadora panicked, knowing exactly what was about to happen. It was the blood price. The day Kraven paid for his father’s sins by taking his own life.
She was about to witness such a tragic fate.
Kraven cut open his chin as if to spite them and show them that he wasn’t afraid of death. He moved so slowly as his skin split open, blood pooling around him, and yet he didn’t make a single sound.
And they watched, the Lords of the Five Court just watched as the grotesque sight happened in front of them.
Isadora couldn’t bear this any longer; she moved, but the entire platform collapsed as she fell into the depths of darkness. But suddenly her body paused in mid-air, suspended by an unseen force.
Footsteps echoed as a figure stepped out of the dark. It was the entity that lived inside Kraven’s head, the madness, the thirst.
"You shouldn’t be here," he said darkly. "You might be bonded to us, but there is a limit to how deep your mind can go. You might be trapped here forever."
"His dreams should be peaceful!" Isadora snapped at him. "Do you still haunt him even when he sleeps?"
"Peaceful?" He barked a twisted, chaotic laugh. "What does that mean?"
Isadora’s eyes trembled at his words because he said them like he didn’t know the meaning of it.
She gasped when her body descended and stood in front of him.
"What is peace to a madman? I’ve no idea, and do you know why?" He leaned down to her, hands at his back, a grin plastered on his lips that made his hollow eyes more terrifying. "There is no peace."
"You’re wrong," Isadora said softly as she placed her hand on his cheek and her light consumed everything.
When Isadora opened her eyes again, she found herself in a different place. This time, it was the first dream Kraven had of Isadora.
Just as he had told her, she stood close to a river, the dark skies mixed with day reflected on it, causing everything to glow.
She wore a silky flowing gown, and her long, golden blonde hair fell freely, swaying in the gentle wind.
Having to glance at yourself with such a mesmerizing view made Isadora speechless.
She found her left-hand lettered with little runes of Kraven’s vows, placed on her round stomach. She was heavily pregnant.
It was just as Kraven had told her.
But there was one thing he left out. Sitting atop her head was a golden crown.
Isadora gasped awake and found silver eyes staring back at her. She froze, then gulped.
"I’m sorry," she whispered, knowing she had done a bad thing. He had warned her several times not to look inside his head because of how dangerous it was.
In guilt, she retreated her hand, but he seized it and forced her back to the bed with him on top of her.
Kraven pinned her hands above her head, and the other held her throat tightly, the pressure of it made it seem like he would snap her neck if he wanted.
However, Isadora was not afraid; behind those wild, bloodthirsty eyes, there was something else, something only she could see.
"The mate tether," Isadora began, staying calm although he might break her. "It’s not just a dream to reveal your mate, is it?" She licked her lips, heart thudding heavily in her chest.
Kraven didn’t say a word, just watching her.
"The mate’s tether is the future. It shows you the future that awaits you when you accept the mate bond. You saw my future, Kraven. Ours."
Kraven leaned, their faces an inch apart, but their nose touched. "Does the future please you then? My queen."
Isadora tackled him to the bed and saddled him, hands placed on his chest. "You need your rest."
"You still haven’t answered my question, darling."
She leaned down to him. "I’ll answer after you have had your rest."
"I’ve slept enough." He attempted to rise, but Isadora pushed him right back.
"You haven’t had enough, not until I say otherwise."
Kraven raised an eyebrow, completely taken over by this bold creature on top of him. The nightgown she wore barely covered her body; the material was too stretchy, it fell to her arms, and the top of her breast peeked.
A sight that blessed his eyes.
"Are you giving me orders now, darling?" He asked, groping her breast with one hand, just to feel them, but he was setting himself more for a craving that would leave him insatiable.
Cold chills shot through Isadora, but she was determined not to give him any satisfaction right now.
"Trying to resist?" he amused, knowing it was pointless; her body would always yield for him, whether she wanted it or not.
"Yes and no." Isadora leaned down to him, and his grip got tighter. She pressed her lips against his but quickly pulled away.
"There’s a limit to how much I can warn you."
"About what?" she asked innocently, a bit startled by how he could change topics as well as moods.
There was a chill in the air, too.
"You know what."
Isadora’s eyes softened. "I thought your dreams would be peaceful. I thought if I took a look inside your head, I would see what—"
"What peace is for a madman?" he interrupted. "I’m sorry to disappoint you, darling, but my madness follows me even when I sleep."
"You mean your past?"
He narrowed his eyes. "What did you see?"
"The blood price."
Kraven exhaled sharply as he looked away, a swirl of unsaid things dimmed in his eyes. "I never wanted you to see that, but you had to get curious, didn’t you? Poking into the head of a madness like you would do a paper?"
"Kraven—"
He sat up, gripping her hair tightly to keep her in place. "What else did you see?" he demanded.
"You know what," Isadora voiced.
Suddenly, gravity left her body, her back meeting the bed, her legs spread apart as Kraven pressed between them.
She could feel the tip of his manhood brushing her hole, like a tease toward the inevitable.
"Then give me your answer, if you want that future, then I’ll gladly cut through the realm so that you can sit on that throne like the queen you are."
Her heart skipped a beat at his words; no amount of comments could describe how she felt right now.
"What about you? This isn’t about what I want, Kraven, this is about you taking what’s rightfully yours."
"I’m not alone anymore." He pressed closer, and she could feel him just a tip away inside her. "You’re with me. That is all I ever want."
"What about your legacy? Your father might have failed in his time, but you can win."
"I’m not high king material, Isadora."
She froze at his words. "You’d make me queen? Give me that position?"
"If that’s what you want." He leaned away as his manhood slid into her with ease.
Isadora’s body jolted as she held his arms tightly, her body coming through a wave of shock at that connection.
"I’m a madman, the realm won’t need someone like me to sit on the throne. But you, Isadora, you’ll be the queen they never asked for but hoped for."
