Chapter 87: Contract denied

The company’s employees had never seen their CEO so angry before! Upon hearing the news, Project Team Four was filled with righteous indignation.

A project that more than a dozen people had tirelessly prepared for three months had just gone down the drain?!

This piece of land was indispensable for the progress of this project. Originally, Oliver had planned that if he couldn’t buy it at a reduced price, he would purchase it at the original price, even if it meant spending more money.

The profits in the later stage should be able to recoup all costs.

Bianca said she could help, Oliver thought she would at most get her classmate, Nolan, to whisper a few words to his old man.

But little did he know, she got Nolan to steal tender documents to threaten Mr. Elijah!

This has now made Mr. Elijah furious, and he has decided to completely cease all collaboration! Now, Elijah’s family is directly not cooperating, not selling anymore!

This brings an even bigger backlash and loss to Oliver’s company! Now, relocating, the tens of millions put in during the early stage are at least half lost!

An entire project has been destroyed by a little girl. "This is pure nonsense!"

Oliver threw the torn-up contract at Bianca’s face that very night: "Never meddle in my affairs again!"

Bianca turned pale: "I didn’t expect things to turn out this way.

Nolan promised that there would be no problem, and previously Nolan’s dad was about to sign a contract with you, wasn’t he?

This shows that Nolan and I had the right intention but unfortunately, we ended up doing a bad thing!

There has to be another reason for things turning out this way!"

"You still trying to evade responsibility?"

Oliver looked at Bianca with a deepening disappointment that he couldn’t express in words.

This is about Smith’s company, the loss of tens of millions has made both Mr. Smith and Mr’s face look not too good.

But Mrs. Smith couldn’t bear to see Bianca blamed by the whole family.

So, she couldn’t help but say to Oliver: "Let it be, things have gotten to this point, what more can be said?"

Nothing can be done about it now."

Oliver shook his head with an ugly look on his face: "But in the future, Bianca, without my permission, don’t incite your classmates to do anything.

I know those classmates of yours are rich second-generation kids, some might be able to help my company - but with your capabilities, you are just making things worse for me like today!"

"Also, Maureen has already left home, you have no need to strive hard to compete with her."

Upon hearing these words, it was like poking at her most hidden thoughts, Bianca immediately tensed up, her eyes rimmed red, nails digging into her palms.

She sat on the sofa, felt the scrutinizing eyes of Mike and Chris, feeling uncomfortable as if sitting on pins and needles, her mind was in complete chaos.

What exactly went wrong? "I didn’t."

Bianca cried, "I only wanted to help you, Oliver."

However, perhaps only Mr. Smith, who rarely stays at home, and Mrs. Smith, who sympathizes with Bianca, could not see through her.

The other three had seen it a long time ago.

If Bianca hadn’t intended to attract the attention of the family, she wouldn’t have gone out of her way to help Oliver with this project.

To this, Chris, Mike, and Oliver actually didn’t feel surprised.

They just felt that the Bianca in front of them was someone they didn’t recognize anymore.

The previous Bianca seemed like she wouldn’t purposely compete for favoritism with Maureen— or had she done so before, and they just didn’t notice?

Or perhaps, she didn’t need to compete at all before, because everyone’s favor had always been skewed towards her.

This realization made Mike frown.

While Oliver and Chris couldn’t help but reflect more.

=========

The atmosphere in the Smith family had already dropped below zero recently, so the maids in the kitchen didn’t dare to venture out of the kitchen area, afraid to bump into any member of the Smith family with a cold demeanor and suffer misfortune.

Now, the gloom was even more palpable. Due to this incident, Oliver’s company suffered severe losses.

Thus, he had to work non-stop to save the situation, leaving him no time for other things.

Consequently, he immediately moved to an apartment near his company that same night.

Originally, Chris was already staying at a hotel, Mike—who has a roguish personality—rarely came home, and Mr. Smith was busy.

With Oliver moving out too, the once bustling Smith family villa suddenly turned eerily quiet, like a desolate grave.

Two months ago, even if Mrs. Smith racked her brains, she would never have foreseen the current disunity in the Smith family.

Rather than attributing the current state to Maureen’s runaway, it was more appropriate to attribute it to Bianca, who should not have been a Smith by surname.

The thought of pushing her own biological children away for a girl who had no blood relation to her filled Mrs. Smith’s heart with anxiety.

That’s the way people are. Even if Mrs. Smith worked hard to forget the fact that ’Bianca was not her real daughter’, she treated Bianca as her own biological daughter, even better than her own.

However, when conflict and disagreements arise, it still made Mrs. Smith felt like she had a fishbone caught in her throat.

On the day Oliver left home, Bianca cried under the covers for two hours. But this time, no one from the Smith family came to comfort her.

However, what happened in the Smith family did not reach Maureen’s ears at all. She packed up her clothes and followed Liam back to his house.

Maureen was initially intending to resolve the contradictions and barriers as soon as possible.

But she never expected the atmosphere to be this awkward...

Sitting on the sofa with her backpack, she and Liam sat on the opposite ends with reddening faces, staring at each other in mute astonishment.

How did it turn out this way? Maureen hadn’t thought much about the water she splashed on him at the time.

She just didn’t want to be separated from Liam immediately.

Had she known it would end up like this, she would not have come to his house a second time even if it killed her. ...

Although there are two bathrooms in the duplex apartment, because Liam had one floor transformed into a pool room and a projection room, plus the bathroom on this floor was never used, it couldn’t be cleaned out in a night.

So, for all intents and purposes, there was only one bathroom.

This implied that the two people would have to share a bathroom.

It also implied that when one person was showering, the other must inevitably hear the gushing sound of water, smell the fragrant shower gel, and notice the sound of water flowing over the body.

In addition to this, when the two first arrived, Liam, red-faced and urgent, rushed to the balcony to gather a large pile of clothes.

The clothes that fell were also very large in size...

If Maureen were to wear one of the sweaters, it would hang down to her thighs.

The last time she visited, Maureen was fully focused on Liam’s fever.

Moreover, Liam had probably tidied up then.

This visit was completely unexpected for both of them, resulting in many things not being cleared away.

On the coffee table, razors were scattered randomly.

All items that a boy would use.

This suddenly made Maureen realize that the person in front of her, even if he was arrogant and boastful, was actually a tall, handsome, and energetic young man with a full burst of masculine hormones, and not the WiFi hotspot she had habitually regarded him as for a long time...

Maureen’s gaze then fell on Liam’s slippers, which were a few sizes larger than hers, and she felt that inexplicable itching sensation that couldn’t be scratched through boots.

"Maybe I should go back to school--"

Maureen stood up. Before he finished speaking, Liam stood up hastily, striving to appear calm. He was taller than Maureen and glared at Maureen fiercely, "What do you mean ’go back’?!"

"It’s just a small piece of the quilt."

"What ’small piece’, your quilt is soaked through. Even if you hang it up, it will take two days to dry.

How will you manage once you get back? Where will you sleep?!"

Maureen: "Perhaps I could stay in a hotel." Liam replied: "You might as well stay here. I will go stay in a hotel tonight!"

After saying this, Liam added: "Don’t read too much into it, I have always been a person of integrity.

I would have done the same and let Niel stay for a couple of nights if this had happened to him."

Maureen couldn’t quite place the sudden feeling of disappointment that washed over her upon hearing this comparison...

She couldn’t possibly let the house’s owner leave while she stayed, so after some hesitation, she said, "Maybe we should both stay here."

Liam swallowed and replied coldly, clearly unwilling: "Well, seems like there’s no other way."

Once these words were said, Silence fell once again.
