Chapter 144: Maureen’s Encounter with Demon Williams

Chapter 144: Maureen’s Encounter with Demon Williams

After returning the stuff to the hotel, they both felt hungry.

Maureen didn’t like the food from the restaurant.

Plus, the overpowering presence of Liam’s grandpa gave her too much pressure, so she hardly ate anything at the restaurant.

By coincidence, Liam drove all the way here and hadn’t eaten anything either.

So, both of them went on to search for a place to eat and found a noodle house to settle down.

Just as they sat down, a little boy came over insisting they gave up their seats, clasping onto Maureen’s leg and refusing to let go.

Liam does not go easy on anyone, regardless of their age or gender.

His face immediately darkened, his deep eyebrows lifted in a warning way,

"What are you doing, kid? There are so many other seats, yet you have to fight for ours?"

"You guys have the window seat!" The kid shouted, "I want to sit by the window!"

Liam, with his cold face, continued to rinse his Spoon while maintaining an overbearing attitude: "Tough luck, we were here first."

A middle-aged obese man came over in anger, "What’s the matter with you, schoolboy? My family has a child, can’t you give way a little?"

"So, only your family has a kid?" Liam snorted coldly, stood up, and tipped his chin towards Maureen sitting across from him,

"Let me introduce you, this is my kid." Maureen: "..." The middle-aged man: "..." This is utterly shameless.

Seeing that Liam’s long legs and tall stature made him stand out from the crowd, and clearly a man who could put up a fight, the middle-aged man seemed a bit deflated.

He grumbled a few words: "Let’s go, to another seat." The little boy was carried away by the middle-aged man, bursting into tears.

Liam continued to wash his Spoon before eating.

Maureen suddenly thought of something. She hadn’t taken a picture with Liam yet.

So, she turned around, and when Liam was not paying attention, she said: "Look up."

Liam raised his head in confusion. Maureen raised her phone and captured the moment, taking a picture of them together.

She had initially thought Liam would mind being photographed carelessly.

To her surprise, Liam’s ear roots turned red, seemingly somewhat pleased: "No need for sneak shots, I permit you to take photos openly."

Maureen: "..." I was taking photos openly, okay?! Stop being so conceited, she thought.

Maureen suddenly recognized a name during training a few days ago: Demon. If this name hadn’t suddenly appeared, Maureen almost forgot about this third-ranked person on the luck list.

Maureen asked the training teacher and learned that Demon was a competition candidate training from another city’s school.

He transferred back from abroad some time ago and was initially supposed to transfer to her School.

Still, for some reason, he later transferred to a different school instead.

While talking to Liam, Maureen mentioned that person.

Upon the mention, Liam’s brows were instantly furrowed.

A pang of nervousness ran through Maureen’s heart as she wondered if there was some complicated aristocratic secret.

She then asked him, "Are you not on good terms with him?"

"It’s not that we aren’t friendly," Liam added a piece of beef to Maureen’s bowl and stated, "Actually, we barely see each other.

I find him — irritating and somewhat pitiful. In short, these are just some messy family issues.

I doubt you’d want to know about it."

Demon was an illegitimate child with an indescribably strange character.

To Liam, he was an imposter.

Although it wasn’t exactly his fault, Liam never took up an issue with him.

Moreover, since Demon had always stayed abroad, their chances of running into each other were minimal.

Maureen decided not to probe further.

She felt sooner or later she would understand the situation when Liam chose to tell her.

After they finished their meal, it was already eight o’clock.

Maureen had been out for a total of four hours, with many test papers still untouched.

She had to return to her studies, unable to spare more time with Liam.

Although Liam seemed arrogant and domineering, he was always accommodating when it came to Maureen.

So, he accompanied her back to her building.

After being apart for what felt like forever, they had to part again just after two hours of reunion.

Their hearts were filled with endless sorrow.

They embraced and shared a brief kiss before Liam reluctantly watched Maureen enter her building.

It was some time after Maureen had entered her building that Liam finally lowered his gaze.

After a long while, he turned around and disappeared into the night.

Liam felt that he had already begun to miss her after this brief separation.

It’s said that men hardly possess feelings of missing someone—what’s happening with him? He felt his eyes getting misty!

This is unscientific! It must be an illusion!

Moving on with the intensive training.

Maureen continues to be busy as hell.

She occasionally has video chats with Liam in the evening.

At first, Maureen would purposely wash her hair whenever she had video chats with Liam, but later, firstly, she was too tired from studying to wash her hair every day, and secondly, she got used to him as time went by.

So she simply couldn’t be bothered to wash it.

Nevertheless, it seems that Liam is wholeheartedly devoted to her and wouldn’t mind her not washing her hair.

One day during the intensive training, Maureen was taking a breath of fresh air in the corridor when she saw Demon walking out from the neighboring class.

Demon doesn’t look much like Liam, he looks much more restrained and refined than Liam.

He was heading downstairs.

Maureen suddenly realized that the delicately made up beauty waiting for him in front of the car downstairs looked familiar.

More than just familiar... Wait a minute, isn’t that...? Maureen hastily searched her memory. And her heart skipped a beat. She realized she was not mistaken.

That woman was Liam’s mother.

As Demon was walking towards Liam’s mother, she immediately brightened up and looked at the Demon with a face full of affection.

She patted Demon’s head, handed him some food, draped a coat over him and then took him to her car.

Maureen felt a bit strange.

The relationship between Liam’s mother and Demon shouldn’t be that close, yet she was treating Demon as if he was her own son.

From the second floor, Maureen watched Demon, who seemed to have noticed her as well, and he glanced up at her.

She was originally expecting to gradually learn about the secrets of the wealthy from Liam.

If Liam didn’t want to tell her, there must be a reason.

Yet, she was incredibly curious and anxious to know.

This matter was like a fishbone stuck in her throat.

Drake didn’t plan to tell her either, so Maureen decided to ask Demon.

At first, she thought that Demon would be hard to approach, but surprisingly, Demon’s and Liam’s personalities were polar opposites.

Demon looked somewhat repressed, as if he was carrying a lot of burdens.

Liam’s mother had come to pick him up three times, and each time he returned, he seemed to be in worse spirits.

Over the twenty or so days of the training camp, Maureen would occasionally ask Demon a few questions about Liam’s past.

Initially, Demon didn’t respond much – probably because he thought that as Liam’s girlfriend, he in turn did not feel obligated to answer any of her questions as his understanding was that he and Liam weren’t on very good terms to begin with.

However, after Liam’s mother brought him home for the third time, Demon finally loosened his lips to Maureen.
