The Purgatory Calamity
Chapter 779 - 741 Long Di’s Plot

Chapter 779: 741 Long Di’s Plot

Yuan Yi had killed the Thunder God in the Misty Sea with the aim of dealing with the Netherworld God in Purgatory, to resolve the issue with the two powerful beings, Long Di and Bai Zi.

He possessed Fan Di, who had now transformed into a behemoth resembling land, its fierce and frenzied Thunder Divine Power having long surpassed Fan Di’s prime.

After killing the Lei Meng Beast God, He enhanced its bloodline and beast body, inadvertently granting it the strength of a middle-level God.

Once the Fahua’s Demon Soul entered, the Lei Meng Beast’s demon body instantly surged with thick Demonic Element Power, wrapped in dark demonic energy with lightning flashing in its eyes.

"Bai Zi!"

One figure in the normal form of a demon body, another in the form of Lei Meng Beast, Fahua used both bodies to attack Bai Zi.

As Fahua, in the form of Lei Meng Beast, charged to the forefront, it withstood Bai Zi’s "Soul-Burying Staff" and her myriad Spiritual Soul Secret Skills, advancing resolutely under the resplendent light of the soul.

Lightning flickered in and out of existence with thunderous roars, and in the Netherworld Prison Void caught between the Lei Meng Beast and Bai Zi, numerous "You Gui" appeared and vanished abruptly.

Bai Zi, the Realm God from Purgatory, was well-versed in many profound and mysterious Spiritual Soul secret techniques and was already a powerful High God.

But her Divine Abilities and Techniques, the "You Gui" she summoned with her Divine Power, struggled to exist for long under the brutal assault of the Thunderous Lightning, disappearing quickly.

The Nether Tribe, in the Mysterious Fog World, had only failed to conquer two worlds.

One was Purgatory; the other was Thunder Prison.

For the Nether Tribe and the Netherworld God, Purgatory remained unconquered due to the terrifying power of the True God of the Human Race, combined with their difficulty in entering the Purgatory World, which made the Nether Tribe apprehensive about taking drastic action against it.

Thunder Prison, however, was different.

Any member of the Nether Tribe and Netherworld God would consider Thunder Prison a forbidden zone, daring not to trespass there lightly.

This was also why the envoy from the Netherworld Prison only dared to wait at the bottom of Thunder Prison for Pang Jian, without venturing deep to investigate.

Thunder Prison and the Thunder God had a certain restraining power over the Nether Tribe!

After Fahua acquired the demon body of the Lei Meng Beast, his confidence surged when he launched an attack on Bai Zi.

"Thunder God..."

Bai Zi’s slender waist twisted, her deep green dress rustling in the void.

She danced through the intense battlefield with the grace of a nimble sprite.

She no longer deliberately released any soul-involved secret techniques, her "Soul-Burying Staff" becoming a mere bludgeon.

"Clang!"

The small staff struck the giant forehead of the Lei Meng Beast God as if an insect had collided with a towering Divine Mountain.

"Boom!"

But the rounded forehead of the Lei Meng Beast began to crack from one point, quickly spreading across the entire face!

The overwhelming Divine Power, incredibly, came from Bai Zi’s delicate and graceful Divine Body, from the "Soul-Burying Staff" in her hand!

She suddenly unleashed a strength that a Netherworld God of her level shouldn’t have had!

As the forehead of the Lei Meng Beast cracked open, she let out a cold smirk and thrust herself and the staff into the beast’s skull.

—As if she were a golden wasp attacking the divine spirit of a giant!

"How is Bai Zi’s body so strong, like a powerful Demon God? Elder Yuan!" exclaimed another Fahua in disbelief.

Pang Jian was also amazed.

He had long noticed that Bai Zi’s body was comparable to a Divine Artifact, recognizing the strength of this Realm God from Purgatory as extraordinary.

Yet, when Bai Zi truly demonstrated her physical strength, he was still shocked; he hadn’t expected her to be this powerful.

The Nether Race was strong in spiritual soul, but weak in physical body.

Nearly all of the Nether Race focused on their strengths and avoided their weaknesses, concentrating their life’s efforts on the cultivation of their spiritual souls and deliberately neglecting the forging of their physical bodies.

Because of their naturally frail bodies, they felt that spending time on physical cultivation would hardly yield great achievements.

Bai Zi, however, had chosen what seemed a foolishly difficult path.

While other Nether Race warriors capitalized on their strengths, she decided to turn her weaknesses into advantages!

After many years on this path, she had indeed developed an extraordinarily strong body!

"Without using my spiritual soul power, relying solely on the strength of my Divine Body, I dare fight you, Fahua," Bai Zi’s voice emanated from inside the Lei Meng Beast’s head.

The next moment!

This Lei Meng Beast God, killed and reforged by Yuan Yi, shattered into pieces as Bai Zi’s fists extinguished part of the Fahua’s Demon Soul within the brain!

She soared through the rain of blood, launching herself at Fahua’s true Demon Body, battling the Great Demon God.

As she had said, without employing the mysteries of her spiritual soul or unfolding her Divine Consciousness into God’s Domain, she stood toe-to-toe with Fahua relying only on her seemingly delicate Divine Body!

As a Realm God herself, this rising star from Purgatory gave the Great Demon God Fahua a hard time.

In a sudden realization, Fahua recognized that some beings were born to dazzle the entire Star River, like his former master Mo Tian, like those gloriously strong deities of the Human Race from Purgatory.

Bai Zi was such a being.

...

Over Purgatory, the wars between the many lands and Fragment Lands continued.

In the world below, divine spirits and warriors of alien tribes were fiercely engaging in a battle of invasion against the lands and fragmented lands of the Nether Tribe.

Every moment, people died, and every so often, a divine spirit would perish.

The souls of the deceased did not naturally disappear into the world, nor did they drift away from Netherworld Prison to the outer Mysterious Fog; instead, they sank one by one into the deep sea that filled the bottom layer of the entire Netherworld Prison.

Clusters of Soul Spirits, like withered yellow leaves invisible to the naked eye, drifted and fell through the void.

This scene, however, could be seen clearly by Pang Jian.

The souls of the deceased numbered in the millions, and they were drawn by a force, called by some power, floating gently into the deep sea.

In the darkness, Pang Jian almost heard the "whoosh" of the sea.

Upon closer listen, he realized it was not the water of the deep sea that covered the entire bottom layer, which he could see.

"Ming Yu Soul Sea!"

Pang Jian suddenly came to a realization.

The Ming Yu Soul Sea, the most mysterious soul sea in Netherworld Prison legends and the birthplace of the Nether Tribe, might also be exerting its power in the midst of war!

There are Earth Palaces in Purgatory, with a miraculous Reincarnation Pool, shouldering the duty of carrying the returning souls of the dead.

In the beginning, when the karmic cycle of Purgatory was still intact, the souls of creatures that died in Purgatory, after vanishing into the world, would flow into the Earth Palace and then merge into the Reincarnation Pool to have their memories and karma washed away, waiting to be purified, and then supplied to newly born creatures.

It was a complete and rational cycle.

After the rise of the Human Race’s Gui Sacrificial Sect, the True Gods of the sect began to control this task, and subsequently, they broke the rational and complete cycle several times, causing many issues to arise in the karmic cycle.

Other worlds with "Prison" in their names were rumored to have similar Earth Palaces and Reincarnation Pools, which also began to have problems one after another.

Zimo, a high-level god of the Ghost Clan, seemed to have a strong interest in the mysterious Earth Palaces of the Misty Sea World, and through some means, he even managed to capture a few of them.

It seemed that certain perpetual laws existing in the Misty Sea World were also severely damaged as a result.

Yet the current Netherworld Prison, the flow of the souls of the deceased, and the acceptance and tolerance of the mysterious soul sea, all indicated that the reincarnation laws of Netherworld Prison had not encountered any issues.

This world, in terms of the destination and birth of souls, had been maintaining a normal operation all along.

Perhaps, it was the only world among the "Prison" worlds of the Misty Sea where the cycle of life and death was functioning normally.

"It’s Long Di! Long Di controls the death and rebirth of Netherworld Prison’s creatures!"

"He and Bai Zi, one managing internal affairs, the other external affairs, together uphold the prosperity and decline of Netherworld Prison!"

"If he truly can control rebirth, after washing and purifying the souls and Ghosts of the Dead gathered by Ming Yu Soul Sea, he could allocate them to the newly born Nether Tribe, as well as to other tribes."

"The more abundant and immense the souls and Soul Energy contained in Ming Yu Soul Sea, the more Nether Race Warriors it would create in the future."

"Naturally, there would also be more astonishingly talented new generations of the Nether Tribe!"

Pang Jian suddenly understood many things.

If the future of the Nether Tribe were to be considered over the long term, those divine spirits who died in Netherworld Prison, like Realm Gods such as Haiwei, were significantly enhancing the power of the soul sea.

How could the souls of the deceased from the alien tribes with ninth-level bloodlines compare to the souls of the perished divine spirits?

Long Di, along with those Nether Gods of the Nether Tribe, even if they went to other worlds, into the depths of the Misty Sea or starry space to kill divine spirits different from the Nether Tribe, they simply could not achieve such an effect!

Souls of divine spirits who die outside of Netherworld Prison will not enter Netherworld Prison and will not become part of the power of the soul sea.

Only in Netherworld Prison, in the world that He Longdi painstakingly managed and defended for countless years, could the souls of divine spirits that died within be restricted by the laws of this world and merged into the soul sea that could build the glorious era of the Nether Tribe!

All the Nether Tribe people who die in battle, their souls merging into the soul sea, could become a force for the new generation of Nether Tribe in the future.

The Nether Race Warriors who die would be replaced by new Nether Tribe members in the future, making it a fair deal in the long run.

But for those divine spirits who died here, the overwhelming energy of their souls, after being cleansed in the soul sea, could create even more powerful Nether Tribe geniuses in the future!

One after another a stronger, more talented Nether God could potentially be born because of it!

Pang Jian suddenly understood why the leader of the Nether Gods, despite being pushed to such a degree, still stubbornly refused to make an appearance, allowing death and disaster to continue.

—Because Long Di had envisioned the future of the entire Nether Tribe!

He wanted to use this once-in-a-hundred-thousand-years catastrophe as an opportunity, to establish the golden age of the Nether Tribe while the external divine spirits were capable of invading!

Elder Yuan, Fahua, Haiwei, and the numerous other Realm Gods who brought low-rank gods to invade, might all have been tacitly approved by him.

He might even have been quietly pushing it all forward!

"If it really is so...."

Pang Jian, faintly feeling this to be the true reality, looked at the deep cave where fortunes were escaping and couldn’t help feeling a chill in his heart.

"Huh!"

Without a word, he quietly approached the nearest Boundary Wall, a retreat already forming in his mind.

Although Elder Yuan seemed not to be at a disadvantage for now, and the Nether Gods and Nether Tribe members appeared to have suffered heavy casualties, the war was never fair from the start, as the Nether Tribe’s deaths could be compensated for through the soul sea in the future.

Whereas the dead alien tribes and those external divine spirits couldn’t come back to life.

"Pang Jian, you are the one I specifically sent an envoy to invite, why are you suddenly in a hurry to leave?"

A soft yet pleasing and melodious voice sounded out of the blue just as he was about to reach the Boundary Wall.
