Chapter 762: Chapter 724 The Deterrent Power of the Sovereign_1
Outside the Netherworld Prison, deep within the gray, enshrouding Misty Sea.
"Crack! Crunch!"
The gigantic body of the Stone Eater, painstakingly constructed of numerous Fragment Lands, emitted a jarring and unnatural noise at its "joints."
"Whoosh!"
A light carrying the essence of sanctity burst from a heart-shaped Fragment Land through a crack in space, causing the stone in the small Stone Eater’s domain to shatter abruptly.
In the void, within the gray mist, cold and deathly light waves furiously spread outward!
The radiance that covered the heart-shaped Fragment Land was ripped apart and dispersed, or directly devoured and eroded away by a brighter, more dazzling light!
Colorful pebbles, one by one, vanished into thin air, erased directly by the overwhelming Divine Power.
"The Sovereign’s aura!"
"God Luo!"
"He, He..."
The gods of the various Fragment Lands could finally see a space rift at the center of the heart-shaped Fragment Land and feel the majestic and expansive mighty force!
That level of light fluctuation, the minute Laws visible to the naked eye within the fluctuations, unmistakably revealed the identity of the caster.
One of the four great Sovereigns, God Luo, was making a move against the Stone Eater from afar!
Because He had not arrived in person and because He exhibited a level of Divine Power that was not supremely dominant, the Stone Eater seemed to not be clearly at a disadvantage, as if it still had the strength to fight.
But a Sovereign is a Sovereign; the Fragment Land Group, once under His scrutiny, was no longer a safe haven.
The gods began to feel fear, their Divine Auras nervous and helpless, all contemplating that perhaps they should seek a new place to avoid being involved in the conflict between God Luo and the Stone Eater.
"God Luo, I do not fear You."
It was at this moment that the Stone Eater’s dull voice echoed throughout the Fragment Land Group.
Its voice rang out from all the Fragment Lands representing its true body and also crossed the space rift to reach the Fifth Realm of Purgatory. It questioned, "You clamp them with those seven pillars, which are essentially my body! What’s wrong with wanting to take back what’s mine?"
"Your body?" A gracefully shaped divine silhouette hung above Bagua City, Her voice indifferent and aloof as She spoke slowly, "Among those seven pillars, only the Sky-reach Godstone belongs to you."
"Heh!" the Stone Eater scoffed coldly, "They are called Heavenly Tribulation Pillars, and isn’t the main material the Sky-reach Godstone? God Luo, I don’t care about Your struggle with that one, but I must take back what is mine!"
"Can You really control it?" The ethereal divine silhouette symbolizing Luo Hongyan descended from the pinnacle of Bagua City, arrogantly and forcefully saying, "What I step on belongs to me."
Before the Stone Eater could reply, She continued, "Next, I will search for you deep within the Mysterious Fog, and gradually dismantle you, piling up anything of value from you in my treasury."
With that, Her figure faded back into the city.
Yet Her voice still echoed among the Stone Eater’s true body in the Fragment Land Group, leaving the Alien God Spirits in a state of panic.
"Stone Eater! We’ll meet again!"
"My lord! We shall meet again if fate allows!"
"Thank you for your shelter; I will hold it dear in my heart! But now, it is time to part!"
"..."
Streaks of light, patches of rainbow clouds, wrapped around the bodies of those gods, departing from the Fragment Land Group.
In the vast and boundless Star River, the Sovereign known as "God Luo" was famed for being cold-blooded and ruthless. Her actions intimidated all godly beings, and none dared to stay in the Stone Eater’s domain while She was clearly enraged.
Soon, most of the gods of the Fragment Land Group had left.
Because the broken stones of the heart-shaped Fragment Land were crushed by Her power, Pang Jian’s Immortal Primordial Spirit regained its freedom in an instant, and its connection with the main body could be reestablished.
With a thought, the torn spatial rift suddenly healed and vanished.
"Snap!"
The small Stone Eater rotated its neck, its twin stone-like eyes losing much of their luster.
"I really didn’t expect, the body He crafted in Purgatory to have grown so strong," it muttered to itself without a hint of shame for its unveiled schemes and said, "That body of yours, and those True Gods of your kinfolk, should stop fancying they have a role in the struggle between the two great Sovereigns."
"Take my advice, don’t sink into the Seventh Realm, just find a safe place to live well."
"Pang Jian, you..."
It was ready to give him some earnest advice.
"Swoosh!"
Pang Jian, without a word, his Primordial Spirit morphed into a streak of rainbow light, just like those Alien God Spirits that had scattered, and likewise left the Stone Eater’s chest cavity Fragment Land behind.
He harbored anger in his heart but found it difficult to vent, leaving with no other recourse.
This Twelfth Level Alien Spirit, remembering his mother’s old kindness, truly did impart some teachings to him.
But the Stone Eater obviously had ulterior motives!
Using its identity as a Purgatory World God, it lured him into opening a spatial rift. Had it not been for Luo Hongyan’s intervention, perhaps the Heavenly Tribulation Pillars would have been pried away.
After being deceived, Pang Jian even suspected that the Stone Eater’s initial goodwill was merely to lower his guard.
To fight, he was not its match for now.
Since there was now a seed of doubt in his heart, and he no longer trusted the Stone Eater, what was left to discuss by staying?
"Pang Jian, I won’t stay here any longer either. Hope to see you again if fate allows."
The Stone Eater did not pursue or make any move to stop him.
With its massive standing body, it looked down at the departing Pang Jian, tiny as a mosquito fly, and spoke softly, "Be wary of Long Di. I might deceive you, and want to use you for certain purposes, but at least I won’t kill you."
"Long Di is not like me. He has real reasons to kill you."
"Finally, I wish you a smooth journey."
The Stone Eater, failing to achieve its desire, watched as the envoy from the Netherworld Prison carefully surfaced, guiding Pang Jian as they gradually disappeared into the distance.
"God Luo..."
A long time later, filled with regret, the Stone Eater sighed and its massive body began to howl within the Mysterious Fog.
Despite claiming not to be afraid, its actions were informing the God Spirits still in the Fragment Land Group of its immense fear of Luo Hongyan, one of the four Sovereigns.
Otherwise, it wouldn’t have relocated so quickly.
...
In the Fifth Realm, within the void.
Watching the divine shadow that vanished into Bagua City and feeling the Primordial Spirit Body amidst the Mysterious Fog, Pang Jian sighed, "I was too reckless, actually opening up a space rift for Him, nearly allowing Him to touch the seven Heavenly Tribulation Pillars."
If the Stone Eater had managed to utilize the Sky-reach Godstone that belonged to it to leverage those Heavenly Tribulation Pillars, the seven continents might have shattered.
The existence of the seven Heavenly Tribulation Pillars not only suppressed the mightiest of the Alien Tribes and the Bloodline of the Ancient Demon Clan but also ensured the integrity of the landmasses.
Without the Heavenly Tribulation Pillars, the continents would become exceedingly fragile, prone to collapse and break apart.
The Black Phoenix that fell into the Seventh Realm is still being repressed by its corpse due to the integrity of the seven continents.
Once it loses the constraints of both pillars and land, it will have even fewer restrictions, and its influence on the world will become terrifyingly greater.
The Stone Eater’s greed for the Heavenly Tribulation Pillars would evidently assist the Black Phoenix, something Luo Hongyan naturally wouldn’t allow to happen as per its whims.
When Pang Jian had become aware that his actions over the years were, more or less, influenced by the shadow of the Black Phoenix, he instinctively rejected the matter.
"It is indeed enviable," Pu Zhaotian suddenly blurted out, before adding, "The Stone Eater wasn’t exaggerating, those two beams of light that shot out from the spatial rift could have easily erased a few of us."
The brief encounter that took place above the Fifth Continent was deeply etched into his mind, prompting him to contemplate the numerous Great Tao involved.
The more Pu Zhaotian pondered, the more he marveled, realizing his own insignificance.
Whether it was the Stone Eater or the divine shadow of Luo Hongyan, both had not displayed their full strength due to various environmental constraints and restrictions.
Yet, even the display of a fraction of Divine Power left Pu Zhaotian in awe, stirring grandiose ambitions within him.
This newly promoted True God, an ample-girthed man, longingly looked up at the azure-black Sky Curtain, expressing, "I suddenly wish to venture out and seek further breakthroughs among the Outer Star River."
"Zhu Ji!" Li Wang suddenly cried out in surprise, gazing down toward the Fragment Land.
Pang Jian and Pu Zhaotian looked down only to see Zhu Ji had not made any moves due to the spatial rift anomaly; he still sat desolate atop the Fragment Land.
After the battle ended and the spatial rift healed, Zhu Ji actually began to actively absorb the energies filling the Fragment Land.
All kinds of power!
The Filth Alien Power from the Fifth Realm and the Death Force emanating from Luo Hongyan were both converging towards Zhu Ji’s body, being absorbed into his channels.
Before now, Zhu Ji, who could use various powers, was merely borrowing those forces to fight.
Now, he was incorporating those formerly borrowed powers within himself!
"Zhu Ji is likely to become the first person in our Purgatory World to break the True God Realm’s limitations!" praised Pu Zhaotian.
"Old Master Zhu truly has a heaven-sent talent," said Yin Ji, who followed after them.
"Have Purgatory’s inherent laws changed?" Su Wenrou’s bright eyes flashed, looking towards the position of the Fifth Continent and then at the increasingly profound Darkness below, musing, "Is this world no longer a constraint to us?"
After some thought, Pang Jian pointed to himself and said, "In terms of Godhood ranking, my God Status has already solidified, and I am known as a Middle-level God in the outside world."
"Long Xiao has undergone substantial changes to the Dragon Soul under the joint pressure from Dong Tianze and Wu Yuan."
"Elder Su, the Purgatory Laws are indeed changing, not just for Elder Zhu but for all of you as well. Within our Purgatory, you can all strive for higher realms," said Pang Jian.
The words excited everyone, including Li Wang, Jiang Fan, and Ghost Mother, their spirits lifting.
Their eager gazes fell on Zhu Ji, looking to confirm a new path through him.
"That body by the Stone Eater, will it cause trouble for you?" Pu Zhaotian suddenly remembered this concern, furrowing his eyebrows, "You also thwarted its plans, could it hold a grudge against you?"
Pang Jian shook his head, "I’ll be fine."
After hesitating, he added, "The Stone Eater advised us, it’s better not to get involved in the dispute between the two Sovereigns, saying we don’t have the strength or the right to do so."
Yin Ji and Su Wenrou heard this with bitter expressions, subtly nodding in agreement.
The brief interaction between the Stone Eater and Luo Hongyan had unleashed a tidal wave of power and an intertwining of laws that deeply shocked both women.
"Let’s see if Zhu Ji can break through," said Pu Zhaotian quietly.
