Chapter 723: Chapter 685 - A Vague and Powerful Path_1

Below Thunder Prison, Fan Di’s skeletal remains were disassembled into fragmented disarray, leaving only some worthless shattered bones.

The gathered God Spirits clearly did not spare the massive skeleton of the Demon Race Thunder God; on his bone body, void of flesh and innards, the gods harvested valuable materials once more.

They were able to glean these rewards because the one who originally killed Fan Di, for some unknown reason, did not take the skeleton with them.

Thus, the bones that could be tempered into sharp weapons fell into the hands of those who came later, led by Zimo’s summons, and were taken away by those God Spirits.

This resulted in the valueless, scattered remains desolately floating about.

"As expected, they’ve all left."

Pang Jian sighed and spread his Divine Consciousness amidst the scattered bones.

He dared to leave Thunder Prison at this time because he had received a transmission from the Moon Goddess.

Because the moon hung above Thunder Prison, because Ying Yue had crafted an extraordinary object, and because within his Primordial Spirit Body there was something that corresponded to that moon, Ying Yue could communicate with him.

Ying Yue informed him that Zimo had issued a withdrawal order; many powerful God Spirits had already departed, and that’s why he came out so early.

He ventured out also to see if there were any bold enough God Spirits still daring to stay here.

He wanted to continue hunting God Spirits.

After the deaths of the Water God Mengnawa, the Vermilion Bird Divine Bird, and that unicorn, their Demon Souls and Demon Hearts were fused by him using the "Original Demon Fusion Spell."

The Bloodline Divine Powers of three Demon Gods were used by him to supplement the mysterious laws of thunder and lightning, flames, cold ice, and water that existed within him.

And the Demon Souls of the Demon Gods became a direct part of his vast Divine Aura.

He was still unclear about the specific levels and powers of the Primordial Spirits, but he gradually found that the powerful beings he refined could be used to continually strengthen his own powers.

He cultivated the Great Tao of Chaos, capable of accommodating and integrating various powers, all merging into one within him.

The "Original Demon Fusion Spell" could analyze and refine anything, fitting extremely well with the Great Tao he comprehended, offering him tremendous assistance.

Every God Spirit, even Low-rank Gods, had their shining points and unique insights.

For example, the Water God Mengnawa.

As a Water God, the Great Tao of water comprehended by Mengnawa and the Water God Naga only partially overlapped, while most of it was different.

In the ancient times of the Sixth Continent of Purgatory, the Demon Emperor Shuiyuan, also one of the Water Gods.

The Great Tao of water that Shuiyuan comprehended was slightly different from Mengnawa’s and Naga’s.

Merging the Tao of different Water Gods into the kidney, one of the five viscera within the Primordial Spirit, shockingly altered that microcosm’s climate, deepening Pang Jian’s understanding of the element of water in the Five Elements.

Naga, Shuiyuan, and Mengnawa were just Low-rank Water Gods; yet, merging their Tao together seemed to unleash the mysteries of a Middle-level Water God.

Similarly, the flame principles of the Vermilion Bird and the mysteries of the Demon Emperor Longhui from the Third Continent could also be integrated.

The thunder and lightning principles of the unicorn, of the Thunder Crane, all could be gathered under the Thunderbolt Divine Skill.

Pang Jian, unsure of his future direction in cultivation, saw that killing Alien God Spirits and assimilating their control over Divine Skills and Secret Skills into his Primordial Spirit could enhance his combat power. He thus regarded this as a viable path to strength.

"The only High God who set up an ambush for me seems to be Zimo. Without Zimo, the rest of the Middle-level Gods might not even be my match," he thought.

With that in mind, Pang Jian’s spread out Divine Consciousness suddenly spotted Han Yi approaching on a Divine Platform.

"Why hasn’t she left yet?"

Pang Jian frowned.

Ying Yue had taken the risk to warn him precisely because she was afraid he would inadvertently leave Thunder Prison and suddenly fall under a barrage of attacks from those God Spirits who had been plotting for a long time.

The Moon Goddess was worried that Han Yi would do something rash, scared that she would get embroiled in the situation again.

Now that the crisis had been averted, Han Yi was still lingering near Thunder Prison. Why was that?

Could Han Yi communicate with Ying Yue?

On the crystal-clear Divine Platform, Han Yi’s beautiful yet aloof face was filled with anticipation and a hint of timidity, much like a young girl on the verge of meeting her lover.

Worried that the other would not come, yet also apprehensive that they would act rashly.

Han Yi’s sentiments were evident in the arch of her brows, in the depths of her eyes, in her every mannerism and expression.

She knew well the differences between their races, and knew that contact between them would only harm everyone involved.

Yet she still courageously drew near time and again, fearlessly revealing her feelings.

To her, it seemed that gaining even the slightest acknowledgment from him was the greatest joy in the world.

She was the revered Goddess of Cold Crystal and also ruled over many Divine Realms, with many tribes like the Ice Tribe treating her as their sole deity.

Always aloof, why would she stoop to such abasement, such lowliness?

Remembering everything she had done from the time they met until now, Pang Jian’s heart, however stony, had softened a part due to her.

With a soft sigh, Pang Jian massaged his stiff face, preparing to relax a little and meet her again amidst the Mysterious Fog.

This time, Pang Jian planned to treat her gently, no longer addressing her harshly.

Suddenly, his Divine Consciousness, which had passed Han Yi and continued far into the distance, caught sight of another God Spirit.

That deity was concealed within the Mysterious Fog, deliberately reining in their Divine Aura, without the power to erode and consume all things.

With a body large and strange like a spider, and a human face flawless and perfect, it was the Spider God, Yang Luo!

It was this Yang Luo who had severely wounded him once in the Mysterious Fog, forcing him to rely on the "Purgatory Gate" to flee and ultimately, only through the fate bestowed by Purgatory was he able to recover as before.

He hadn’t expected that Yang Luo hadn’t left yet and was still scheming in the dark!

Pang Jian’s gaze chilled immediately; then he noticed that Yang Luo’s attentive gaze was fixed on Han Yi’s back, full of suspicion.

"She is doubting Han Yi!" he realized.

Pang Jian, now keenly aware, suddenly grasped another fact.

His released Divine Consciousness, like a fish in water within the Mysterious Fog, possessed not only a shockingly extensive coverage but was so penetrating that neither Han Yi nor Yang Luo could detect his surveillance!

And Han Yi and Yang Luo were both Middle-level Gods!

The Mysterious Fog seemed so accommodating to him, as if it were his natural protective umbrella.

The other divine beings’ ability to perceive within the Mysterious Fog couldn’t compare to his. Each could only sense within a very limited range and needed various artifacts to communicate with one another.

"This is my blessed land, my treasure ground," he expressed with joy.

Pang Jian’s eyes shone with surprise.

...

"Pang Jian!"

As the imposing figure, enveloped in a rainbow of light, finally emerged from the Mysterious Fog, Han Yi’s frosty eyes suddenly sparkled with wonder.

He thought he might never see Pang Jian again.

Every day of late had been torture for him.

He was terrified that after escaping the Thunder Prison, Pang Jian would run headlong into a trap and end up captured by Zimo, who would then strip his soul away.

He examined his own heart, asking himself time and time again: if that really happened one day, what would I do?

For me, Pang Jian stepped out of the Mysterious Fog alone, slew Youkui at the Heart of the Stars, and graciously ceded the Exotic Spirit, the Star Devourer.

And he promised that if the opportunity arose in the future, he would eliminate that High God who threatened me.

He never showed me a kind face, always so cold and heartless, yet what he did... was so heartwarming.

For me, he silently did so much. Could I really watch him die under the siege of the gods?

Or should I die with him?

Han Yi asked himself countless times, never finding an answer in his heart, but his hesitation, agony, and pain were, in fact, an answer themselves.

He gradually realized that should he witness Pang Jian rushing out of the Thunder Prison and truly facing death, he would be instantly shattered, his calm and reason destroyed.

He would go mad, abandoning everything, choosing to fall together!

Because that is who he is, and always has been!

In his excitement, Han Yi was about to shout for joy but suddenly saw the severe killing intent on Pang Jian’s stern and rugged face.

"Seeking death!"

The words burst violently through Pang Jian’s gritted teeth.

Gold, green, red, yellow, silver-white—intense thunderballs erupted into being, transforming into a storm that engulfed him from above.

Han Yi looked on bewildered, not understanding why Pang Jian acted this way toward him.

"Why?"

Han Yi asked in his heart and with his eyes, but he did not speak the question aloud.

He knew Pang Jian could understand, knew Pang Jian could feel it.

"Boom! Rumble! Boom boom!"

Divine thunders containing the power of the Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth elements exploded around Han Yi, the raging thunderous sound immense.

Han Yi stood still upon the Divine Platform, yet did not move, nor did he activate his Divine Realm to respond.

How could he strike against Pang Jian? No matter what madness Pang Jian suffered, he couldn’t bring himself to wield his power, lacking the will to battle Pang Jian.

Instead, his Divine Platform spontaneously radiated a river of glimmering light, revealing strands of deep cold lightning to counter the numerous thunderbolts.

In the midst of the earth-shaking thunder, the icy barrier shattered, and the thunder and lightning seized their chance to penetrate.

Flashes of lightning struck Han Yi like whips, and though he distinctly felt the pain, it didn’t seem painful to him.

He turned around, watching as Pang Jian flew over his head like a swift rainbow, shooting towards a spot that had been behind him earlier.

He felt the pain in his soul far outweighed the pain in his body.

"Why?"

Han Yi was still confused, still didn’t understand what was happening.

Until...

A soul-tearing shriek suddenly erupted from somewhere.

As the colossal figure with a human face and spider body gradually revealed itself, he suddenly woke to realization.

—He had been targeted by Yang Luo!

Then, feeling the power of the gold, wood, water, fire, earth divine thunder again, he realized that the seemingly ferocious thunderballs were, in fact, just that—seemingly ferocious.

They contained very little of the might of thunder.

"Yang Luo!"

Han Yi understood everything, a deep murderous intent filling his icy eyes.

He had heard how Yang Luo once inflicted a severe injury on Pang Jian within the Mysterious Fog, the only divine being to truly wound him!

Not long ago, Yang Luo had gloated about this feat, using it to mock the other Ghost Clan divine beings.

Saying that a Middle-level God like Youkui being single-handedly killed by Pang Jian only showed the weakness of the Ghost Clan deities.

Having gained the favor of the Sovereign in Purgatory, Yang Luo’s words had made many divine beings resentful.

But because they feared the Sovereign, the discomfited deities could do nothing but let Yang Luo boast on.

Little did Han Yi expect that Yang Luo, the one he most detested, had been secretly watching him and had followed him all this way. Had it not been for Pang Jian’s early detection, the consequences would have been unpredictable.

"This time, he must die here," Han Yi resolved quietly.
