The Purgatory Calamity
Chapter 490 - 466 Demon Abyss Legend_1

Chapter 490: Chapter 466 Demon Abyss Legend_1

Inside the valley.

The hazy moonlight shimmering around Ying Yue revealed her pale face, rife with frustration and irritability.

Although she had never seen the person in the flesh, merely entangled in a clash of divine senses, she believed that he was the thief from the underground; she was convinced of it!

She didn’t trust that his sudden appearance was for any good reason, or that he would’ve let that extraordinary young man from the Demon Sect go without a motive.

Deep down, she was well aware that in the eyes of the Purgatory Human Tribe, anyone who dared to communicate with Alien God Spirits was committing a heinous sin, an unforgivable crime!

How could someone who was not familiar with her and had never had any contact with her, plea on her behalf?

The momentary hesitation of that person, the glimpse of recollection in his eyes, made her even more certain that the young man from Sword Tower with his sickly yellow complexion and unremarkable looks was indeed the vile thief hidden beneath the ground!

"His appearance, it’s... it’s so painfully average!"

In the now empty Star Moon Valley, Pang Jian’s deliberately altered ordinary features rooted themselves within Ying Yue’s Spiritual Soul, refusing to leave her consciousness.

This Moon Goddess, accustomed to looking down from high above, to the adoration of the masses, suddenly felt a sharp sense of pathos.

The fact that she had accidentally resonated with a young man from the Purgatory Human Race on a soul level was already enough to fill her with overwhelming shame.

To make matters worse, this Human Race youth didn’t even measure up to her standards of aesthetic judgment.

Every time she recalled how her seven strands of moon-white divine sense returned to the Sea of Consciousness, entwined by those seven golden divine senses, the Moon Goddess Ying Yue felt an overwhelming urge to dash out of Star Moon Valley and fight to the death with that sallow young man.

"Stay calm, first calm down and temper the body, and refine the Spiritual Soul properly."

She soothed herself as a glimmer of moonlight quietly condensed at her fingertips.

Within the moonlight the size of a fingertip, there stirred a wisp of her God’s Thought and a mark that she had secretly inscribed on Wu Yuan’s body to establish a connection.

The mark on Wu Yuan’s clothing, devoid of her Divine Consciousness and Divine Power, served merely as a locator.

She could gauge Wu Yuan’s rough whereabouts through the moon hanging high in the night sky, through the bit of moonlight in her hand.

That was all.

"I will find you."

Ying Yue’s face was cold as she sensed quietly for a while and discovered that the individual cultivators from the Demon Sect beyond Star Moon Valley had all vanished without a trace.

"That man, he truly persuaded the young ones from the Demon Sect."

The Moon Goddess frowned.

After a brief hesitation, she still decided to leave Star Moon Valley and choose another secluded realm to draw upon the divine light of the Moon.

...

A hundred miles outside Star Moon Valley.

Beside a winding stream, Wu Yuan, looking at the now unmasked Pang Jian, asked in surprise, "How did you get mixed up with the remnants of the Star Moon Sect?"

"Let’s just say there’s a bit of history," replied Pang Jian vaguely, avoiding detail.

Wu Yuan, reserved and a bit dull by nature, didn’t press for specifics. He only said, "Recently, many evil cultivators have felt the call of the Alien Gods from the Outer Realm, and they have been building altars on different lands and Fragment Lands, attempting to communicate with those Alien God Spirits."

"They crave power, seeking divine skills from the God Spirits, searching for ways to transform from a human form into that of a God Spirit."

"It’s quite laughable," Wu Yuan said with a frown. "Similar events have occurred on the Demon Abyss Continent, Qitian Continent, and other Fragment Lands."

"I’m assigned to eradicate these evil cultivators. I’ve already disposed of several groups. These remnants of the Star Moon Sect are not really a threat, and that so-called Goddess isn’t powerful either. She probably won’t stir up too much trouble," he added.

It was only when talking to Pang Jian that Wu Yuan spoke more and was willing to explain patiently.

Clearly, he didn’t take Ying Yue seriously at all and appeared quite dismissive.

Given his status in the Demon Sect, ignoring such an evil practitioner was not really an issue.

Pang Jian replied indifferently, "Thank you."

"It was nothing."

Wu Yuan decided not to mention the Star Moon Sect anymore as they chatted about what had happened to each of them since they bid farewell on the Demon Spirit Continent of the Fourth Realm.

Back then, as they soared into the sky under tremendous pressure with the help of the Heavenly Spirit Tower, Wu Yuan and Dong Tianze each suffered grave injuries from using the Phoenix Seal and the Purple Demon Eye to alleviate Pang Jian’s burden, forcing them to heal within the Heavenly Spirit Tower.

Pang Jian, on the other hand, fought with Dazzling Shadow, feigned mortal injury to fall from the sky, and lured Zhou Yi, adept in the art of the void, to appear and eliminate him.

Afterward, Pang Jian found himself stranded on the Demon Spirit Continent, and from there he reached Thousand Miles of Cloud Land via a bronze token.

Wu Yuan, who had managed to escape in the chaos, went straight to the Demon Sect upon returning to the Xuan You Continent and informed them of Hong Qiming’s misdeeds.

The reason Wu Yuan didn’t participate in the subsequent action in the Saint Spirit Continent organized by Pang Jian was because he was in closed-door cultivation in the Demon Sect.

Since their time together in the Absolute Sky Forbidden Land, the two had established a friendship and had stood side by side through life and death on the Demon Spirit Continent.

Pang Jian felt that his relationship with Wu Yuan was only slightly less close than with Zhou Qingchen, Dong Tianze, and Qi Qingsong.

—This was mostly because the Sword Tower and the Demon Sect had always been at odds.

Wu Yuan usually didn’t talk much and seemed rather dull, but when it came time for him to stand up, he never let Pang Jian down.

This had been the case in the Absolute Sky Forbidden Land, and it was the same when dealing with his senior brother Hong Qiming on the Demon Spirit Continent. He was decisive and firm.

When Pang Jian faced a crisis in the sky, he immediately summoned the Purple Demon Eye, desperately offering assistance.

He and Dong Tianze, both nearly perished, body and soul utterly annihilated.

"Congratulations on ascending to the Extinction Realm first."

After catching up on old times, Wu Yuan grabbed the Purple Demon Eye and, looking at the black gold longsword on his back, said, "Has the Demon Soul in your sword encountered some issues lately?"

"Yes, it has been targeted by those Demon Gods from the Outer Domain Galaxy."

Pang Jian grasped the Origin Demon Sword in his reverse grip and, upon examining it with his Divine Sense, saw a myriad of Demon Light, Demon Fire, and Demon Cloud from the Source Demon, whose volition was still confused and muddled.

The Demon Thoughts that dissipated from the Source Demon were unable to coherently express themselves, and even on the rare occasions when some emerged, the thoughts they transmitted were hard to decipher.

This state had persisted for a long time.

He knew the Source Demon had suffered injuries and believed it should have a way to recover, but he was unclear about when that would happen.

Facing the outstanding member of the Demon Sect, Wu Yuan, who wielded the Purple Demon Eye, he frankly revealed that the Source Demon had once urged him to quickly find and kill Wu Yuan to prevent Wu Yuan from being corrupted by the Great Demon God Hemo Tian.

"If it weren’t for my experience in the Absolute Sky Forbidden Land and my Spiritual Soul containing divinity, I would have already been corrupted by Hemo Tian, turned into his slave."

"The concerns of the Source Demon are not baseless. In fact, I have been struggling to resist His mental infiltration recently."

"Fortunately, I have managed to hold on."

Wu Yuan did not conceal anything, recounting to Pang Jian the hardships he had recently faced.

Belonging to opposing sects, it would seem natural for the two men, both potential successors of their respective sects, each wielding a Supreme Demonic Artifact capable of corrupting their souls, to be in conflict, especially since the Demon Souls within their artifacts appeared to be antagonistic as well.

Yet this did not affect them in the slightest.

They exchanged insights on resisting the Demon Souls, shared their understanding of realms, and discussed their views on the current situation in Purgatory, not considering other matters.

When the sun began to rise, they suddenly realized they had unwittingly talked the entire night away.

"Pang Jian, let me take you to the Demon Abyss. Perhaps this Divine Sword, which originally belongs to the Demon Sect, can regain its power in the Demon Abyss and bring about the revival of your Source Demon."

Wu Yuan suddenly suggested.

"The Demon Abyss?" Pang Jian was startled.

"Yes, that is the birthplace of the Demon Sect. It is said that many years ago, a meteorite from beyond the sky breached the Purgatory seals and fell to the ground at the northeast edge of this continent, creating a huge pit."

"This pit is called the Demon Abyss, filled with many mysterious and sinister wonders, and at its very bottom lies that extraterrestrial Demon Stone."

"The Demon Abyss, crafted by that Demon Stone, originally belonged to the territory of the Devil Scale Tribe and has always been their holy land."

"Thirty thousand years ago, before the Human Race rose to power, some humans were forced to serve the Devil Scale Tribe near the Demon Abyss. These people were fortunate enough to come into contact with the Demon Stone and comprehended powerful demonic methods and secret skills."

"The founders of the Demon Sect, those earliest ancestors, were the lucky ones who had touched the meteoric Demon Stone."

"Today, the highest demonic methods and secret skills of our Demon Sect, along with our most powerful demon instruments and scale armor, are mostly related to the Demon Abyss and that Demon Stone. To my knowledge, many Alien Gods from the Outer Realm are now congregating outside the Purgatory Galaxy, drawn by that Demon Stone."

Wu Yuan revealed the secrets he had learned.

Pang Jian’s curiosity was completely piqued, and he said, "Alright, I’ll go with you to the Demon Abyss."

...

A corner of the Demon Abyss Continent.

A Cloud Sail carrying scions of the Lower Realm made its way from distant Fragment Land.

"We’ve finally arrived at the Demon Abyss Continent."

"This is the complete land ruled by the Demon Sect! Those filthy Alien Tribes down there are planning to storm the Second Realm, but the Demon Abyss Continent remains one of the toughest to conquer."

"To set foot on this continent, we’ve paid so much in Spirit Jade, hoping it’s all worth it."

"It must be worth it!"

These scions originally lived in the Third Realm, on continents like Universe Heaven and Black Nether, affiliated with the Raging Sun Sect, Star River Alliance, and Red Mountain, having been previously stationed on the surrounding Fragment Lands.

They paid a hefty price to arrive at the Demon Abyss Continent below, via this Cloud Sail.

They were all aware that when the Alien Tribes of the Fifth Realm launched an attack on the Upper Realm, they often started with the Fragment Lands.

The Demon Abyss Continent, Qitian Continent, and Saint Spirit Continent were tough nuts to crack and would surely be left for last.

In a corner of the Cloud Sail.

A young woman with her face covered by a veil, carrying a tightly grey-cloth wrapped long blade, exuded an aura of forbidding coldness that screamed ’keep out.’

Simply approaching her made those family disciples’ legs tremble; naturally, no one was foolish enough to provoke her.

Before the Cloud Sail touched the ground, she leapt up and shot toward the earth like an arrow.

In the moment of landing, she vanished into the forest with a flickering motion.

"The Second Realm, the Demon Abyss Continent, once the ruling territory of my tribe."

With the secret skill, she concealed all the shiny silver scales and, carrying the Long Blade that had shattered many mortal kingdoms, Dazzling Shadow, she masked all features and aura that could betray her identity, darting straight for the location of the Demon Abyss.

Her Qi and Blood did not spill out, and the aura of her Demon Knife was concealed, making her appear like a physically powerful but inconspicuous Individual Cultivator.
