The Purgatory Calamity
Chapter 484 - 460: The Dragon’s Roar_1

Chapter 484: Chapter 460: The Dragon’s Roar_1

Saint Spirit Continent, Dragon Cave.

In a vast cavern, five enormous dragon heads suddenly appeared, their horns jagged and imposing.

The cave, spanning hundreds of acres, seemed somewhat crowded with the emergence of these five dragon heads.

"Crystal Stone Record!"

Five old dragons of the ninth level, each with an imposing dragon eye, all fixed their gaze on a Fire Crystal Stone.

They watched as Pang Jian, wielding the Origin Demon Sword within the stone, slaughtered Lie Yi, the God Son of the Yao Clan.

In the cavern, the breath of these giant dragons was like lightning, like thunder, secretly containing the truth of the Great Tao.

When the Old Thunder Dragon entered eternal slumber, it was their duty to take care of everything in the Dragon Cave and to control the entire Saint Spirit Continent.

"The material of the Origin Demon Sword has changed. The cause of the change was the horn and claws of Long Zhan."

A Wind Dragon with sword scars all over its head and a collapsed snout after a broken nose bridge spoke with a voice as if gasping for breath.

Anger filled its eyes as it declared, "I am familiar with this Origin Demon Sword; I have clashed with its previous owner, Mo Nan. The injuries on my body are thanks to Mo Nan! That sword should be black, without a hint of gold shine. It became so sharp because the Source Demon inside refined the horn and claws of Long Zhan!"

The other four old dragons, with bloodlines reaching the ninth level, extended their long dragon bodies towards different caverns, only bringing their heads here.

Listening to the explanation of the Wind Dragon, these old dragons, each older than Long Zhan, were also seething with rage.

"It seems that Sir Fan Ao of the Human Race must have already discussed this with the boy from Sword Tower. I had thought that the Sword Tower kid did not participate in the hunting of Long Zhan."

"With the qualitative change in the Origin Demon Sword, he must have contributed as well."

"That’s right, he must have been involved in Long Zhan’s demise; otherwise, Fan Ao would not have ceded the dragon horn to him!"

"This time, Sword Tower has struck us first!"

Each of the old dragons of the ninth level, their eyes filled with fierce light, was denouncing Sword Tower in anger.

"I will immediately reach out to the ancestor!"

The ninth level Wind Dragon ignited a drop of dragon’s essence blood to communicate with the Old Thunder Dragon, whose whereabouts were unknown.

Its eyes suddenly lit up and it declared, "The ancestor has indeed left the Mysterious Fog. He received my message and is aware that Long Zhan’s horn and claws are within Pang Jian’s Origin Demon Sword!"

The old dragons were greatly shaken and urgently inquired, "What direction should our Dragon Cave take from now on?"

"The ancestor said to keep our stance unclear and for us to continue waiting."

"Waiting for what?"

"Waiting to see whether Pu Zhaotian there confirms his ascension to True God. We’ll make our next move based on that."

"Our ancestor is actually apprehensive of Pu Zhaotian’s possible Godhood?"

The old dragons of the ninth level visibly changed color upon hearing the words of the Wind Dragon.

They had not expected the sovereign who had dominated the Thunder God’s Path for tens of thousands of years and held in little regard many True Gods of this world to care so much about Pu Zhaotian’s success or failure.

Pu Zhaotian’s Divine Enthronement or lack thereof would decide their next steps and whether the Dragon Cave should openly confront the Human Race.

"I have heard whispers of something recently."

Again, it was the Wind Dragon that had been severely wounded by the Origin Demon Sword, its massive head swaying, who coldly said, "The Pure Land of the First Realm has been desperately protecting a woman, the one who obtained the Heaven Phoenix inheritance. And this woman appears to be naturally gifted with a rare Thunder Vortex and might rise to the Immortal Realm."

A ninth-level Flame Dragon exclaimed in shock, "Born with a Thunder Vortex? What is the intention of Pure Land? Do they still expect her to surpass our ancestor and ascend using the Thunder God’s Path?"

"Perhaps, Pure Land is waiting for the ancestor to leave Purgatory. Or perhaps, they are waiting for the ancestor’s fall," another ninth-level dragon asserted grimly.

"A natural Thunder Vortex is nothing to fear, what’s terrifying is... the legacy of Sir Heaven Phoenix. That one, after all, once overpowered our ancestor and is revered as the strongest by all of the Demon Race." The heart of the ninth-level Flame Dragon skipped a beat as it said, "Is it possible that this was a scheme by Sir Heaven Phoenix to target our ancestor?"

In speaking of the fallen Sir Heaven Phoenix, all of the ninth-level old dragons in the Dragon Cave still showed utmost respect.

And profound wariness.

"The Human Race has never truly been on our side! Long Zhan’s death, secretly nurturing the younger generation to oppose the ancestor, blocking the Godhood that should rightly belong to us!" The Wind Dragon roared with growing fury, saying, "In this calamity of heaven and earth, we absolutely cannot trust the promises of the Human True Gods anymore."

"Not a single word!"

The assembly of dragons was inflamed, speaking of the depravity of the Human Race True Gods.

...

Two months later.

Zhou Qingchen, who had reached the mid-stage of the Spirit Condensation Realm, left Panshi Fragment Land and went on behalf of Pang Lin to the Qitian Continent, where Sword Tower was located, to inform that Pang Lin had been diligently cultivating his realm.

In the territory under the jurisdiction of Sword Tower, he found the relocated members of the Zhou Family and Jiang Li, whom he had not seen for a long time.

In Jiang Li’s quarters, Zhou Qingchen, while drinking, said with a tinge of sorrow, "Han is dead."

"Zhao... is Zhao still alive?" Jiang Li urgently asked.

Zhou Qingchen shook his head, speaking in a low voice, "I don’t know. I really don’t know. I haven’t received any news from her. Even the Sect Master died; it’s unlikely she survived. Before the outbreak of that great battle, I was invited by Pang Lin to the Saint Spirit Continent, so I did not truly participate."

"I should have been on the Qian Tian Continent, at Red Mountain, standing with the Sect Master fighting against the invading Alien Tribes."

Whenever he thought of Liu Lingyun’s death and the elders who had cared for him, all blown to pieces on Red Mountain by the Alien Tribes and Ferocious Beasts, he felt guilt and sorrow.

"At least you’re still alive... at least you’re still alive..."

Jiang Li’s tears flowed as she cradled his bearded face with her small hands and whispered, "Thank goodness you followed Pang Jian to the Saint Spirit Continent of the Second Realm. I hope you live well, for your Zhou Family and for me."

Zhou Qingchen gave a wry smile and continued to drown himself in drink.

He knew all too well the dangers that lurked in the Saint Spirit Continent, now under the control of the Demon Race, where he had almost been killed in an instant like Fan Chen.

There were no absolutely safe places in the current Purgatory, and even this Qitian Continent, ruled by the Tower Master, would become a tragic battlefield in a few years, suffering the onslaught of the Alien Tribes and Ferocious Beasts.

Just like the situation on the Qian Tian Continent or at Red Mountain.

"I hope Pu, the Elder, can successfully ascend to the rank of True God. I hope the Human Race can bring forth a true Sword God. Only the mightiest Sword God can deter those with divided loyalties in Dragon Cave," Zhou Qingchen thought silently to himself.

...

The Panshi Fragment Land from which Pang Jian secretly departed.

After the destruction of the Yin Spirit Temple and the death of Han Zhiyuan, Dong Tianze, who had lost direction and purpose, cultivated day and night, maniacally refining his realm and tempering his body.

Pang Jian had advanced to the Extinction Realm, whereas he was only in the middle stage of the Soul Wandering Realm, the gap between their realms widening significantly.

In pursuit of Pang Jian’s footsteps and in hopes of breaking through to the Extinction Realm, he entered a state of cultivation that seemed almost possessed.

One day, the Heaven Phoenix Mark on his brow suddenly grew hot to the touch.

In a dazed state of cultivation, he heard a sweet, gentle voice say, "Come to the Pure Land of the First Realm."

"Master, the master whom I serve, she is calling me to the Pure Land," Dong Tianze revealed a look of astonishment.

With his current level of cultivation and the extraordinary adventures he had experienced, he was now capable of resisting the authority of that master and was no longer her absolute Divine Guard.

He had developed the ability to think independently and would consider the pros and cons before doing anything.

Even though she was his master, to whom he must remain loyal, he now had the right to bargain, to fight for something more for himself.

"My name is Pang Lin, and I too was born in Northern Qi... Pang Jian... he’s my biological brother," the message in the Phoenix Seal continued.

Dong Tianze was greatly shaken.

Without a moment’s hesitation, he took flight with the Yin Spirit Blood Halberd, leaving the Panshi Fragment Land and, following her guidance, headed straight for the Pure Land of the First Realm.

...

The Second Realm, Demon Abyss Continent.

Star Moon Valley.

On a night when a bright moon hung in the sky and the stars sparkled like gems, a figure arrived quietly.

"Star Moon Sect, a power that has been expelled from the Second Realm. The nature’s spiritual energy here isn’t particularly rich, but... the starlight and moonlight that fall are absorbed and retained," said Pang Jian in blue robes, holding a Sword Command at his waist, as he stood outside the valley and murmured to himself.

Spreading out his Divine Sense, he reached into the heart of Star Moon Valley and quickly sensed the life signatures of hundreds of Individual Cultivators.

A group of cultivators of various realms were active in the area that once belonged to the Star Moon Sect.

"I’m only here to gather what might be a special ore vein beneath Star Moon Valley, so there’s no need to actually enter the valley and deal with those Individual Cultivators," he thought, and then his form descended, sinking deep into the ground.

At the underground of the Raging Sun Sect, he had tasted the sweetness of the special ore veins that could nurture Gold Friday Stones.

A small Gold Mountain emerged in his Dantian Fragment Land, which allowed him to refine the sharp power of gold.

This miniature and ethereal sun became solidified above his Dantian by harnessing some of the power from those veins.

This significantly enhanced his combat prowess.

He planned to do the same and solidify the stars and moons above his Dantian by drawing energy from the veins that could hold the essence of the stars and the moon.

Through Hu’s inquiries, he learned of this special place in the Demon Abyss Continent of the Second Realm called Star Moon Valley, which could absorb and store the radiance of stars and the moon.

Clearly, similar channels existed deep beneath the surface.

Indeed, they did.

He quickly noticed bright crystalline lines, like the meridians of the earth, running deep beneath Star Moon Valley.

Under the veil of night, Star Moon Valley seemed to be specially favored by the stars and moon, as brilliant starlight and Moon Energy converged upon this valley and then penetrated the earth.

Narrowing his eyes, Pang Jian clearly observed grains of star and moon brilliance settling from one end to the other within the star-moon meridians.

"Absorb, refine, distill, and turn into pure star and moon divine radiance," he nodded silently to himself, entered the center of the star-moon meridians that were unreachable to most, and silently activated the "Pot Heaven Nourishing Qi Spell" to draw power from these special channels.

Above his Dantian, countless stars and two phases of the moon began to solidify bit by bit.

A smile blossomed on Pang Jian’s lips as he focused on drawing the power of the stars and the moon, observing the changes above his Dantian.

He knew that this was one of the right methods to advance and break through in the Extinction Realm.
