The Purgatory Calamity
Chapter 435 - 414: Excavating the Relic_1

Chapter 435: Chapter 414: Excavating the Relic_1

Pang Jian spoke the truth about the stout ape with lustrous black hair that he had found here.

The ape, holding a black iron cudgel and clad in Lock Armor, was placed within a stone pillar.

And when that black iron cudgel fell into Yu Xin’s hands, it once manifested a ferocious Giant Ape a thousand feet tall that killed Feather Wing Tribe warriors and the Alien God puppet they worshipped.

"An ancient Demon Race?"

Fan Chen was taken aback, and, as he instinctively glanced at the numerous stone pillars around him, he said, "Are you suggesting that within these countless stone pillars, there might still be remnants of the Demon Race’s corpses?"

"Mm, the corpses would be eroded into ash in an instant when they appeared. Just like the Level 10 Frost Giant Dragon we saw on the edge of the Demon Spirit Continent," explained Pang Jian, "However, their artifacts would not be tarnished by time."

After a brief pause, Pang Jian continued with a touch of embarrassment, "To answer your call, you also left behind the Heavenly Eye without exchanging the Contribution Value inside."

Dong Wenjian shook his head with an amused smile, saying, "Pang Jian, you underestimate us! Other Direct Disciples might care about mere Contribution Value, but do you think we would?"

Lin Manhe pursed her lips, pointing at Dong Wenjian and said, "His ancestor is that True God from the Ancient Law Sect. Pang Jian, you don’t really think we would care about that bit of Contribution Value, do you?"

Liou Youyu said softly, "The True God of the Taiyi Divine Nation now goes by the surname Fan."

Implicit in her words was that Fan Chen’s ancestors, like Dong Wenjian’s, were also True Gods.

Fan Chen smiled proudly, saying, "I don’t care about the Contribution Value, but I am indeed a bit interested in the relics of the ancient Demon Race."

"Let’s split up and look around," Hu commanded loudly.

Subsequently, this exceptional group of youths, distinguished even in Purgatory World as a whole, began searching inside the Stone Forest that lay beyond the Forbidden Land using their own methods.

Soon, Liou Youyu was the first to make a discovery.

She activated a Secret Skill and with the probing divine might of the Mysterious Heavenly Divine Mirror, she saw that within an inconspicuous stone pillar, a Golden Roc was sealed.

It was a half-human form Roc with part of a Human Race’s torso but the head of a Golden Roc.

In the chest area of the Golden Roc Man, there was a piece of golden feather which, under the illumination of the Mysterious Heavenly Divine Mirror, emitted a dazzling light.

After Liou Youyu notified everyone, they quickly gathered around the site.

"I’ll break open the stone pillar!"

The impatient Hu took out a new Spirit Sword and cleaved the stone pillar in two.

The Golden Roc, of human height, was instantly subjected to the ravages of millennia, turning into dust before everyone’s eyes right as it appeared.

Yet, that piece of golden feather was preserved.

The leaf that released a golden brilliance within the Mysterious Heavenly Divine Mirror didn’t lose a single hint of its luster before the eyes of the onlookers.

They tried to perceive the magic of the golden feather with their Spiritual Soul, Qi and Blood, and Spiritual Power, but they couldn’t feel anything.

"This object is extraordinary."

Hu stepped forward.

Just when she attempted to pick it up and hand it to Liou Youyu, her expression changed slightly, and she exclaimed, "It’s much heavier than I expected!"

A palm-sized feather should be as light as air, yet she needed to use a portion of her Spiritual Power just to lift it.

"This is a golden feather from a Level 10 Golden Roc!"

Fan Chen, well-versed in the secrets and anecdotes of Purgatory, came drifting over and took the golden feather from Hu’s hand to examine it carefully.

He was certain as he said, "It was this piece of golden feather that protected this Golden Roc all along. Unfortunately, this half-humanized Golden Roc still died, unable to escape the great catastrophe."

Under everyone’s puzzled gaze, Fan Chen pondered for a moment and offered an explanation he believed made sense.

"It must have been from that great battle between the Ancient Demon Clan and the Alien Tribes. Among them, a Level 10 Golden Roc pulled out a divine feather from its body, hoping to allow its offspring to escape the disaster."

"The Golden Roc that turned into dust must have been around Level 7 or 8."

"It was surely the offspring of a Level 10 Golden Roc, which hoped to survive thanks to the golden feather of its ancestor. If the Ancient Demon Clan had won that war and the Level 10 Golden Roc had survived, it could have found its way to this feather and freed the entrapped little Golden Roc from inside the stone pillar."

"..."

Fan Chen analyzed logically.

He informed everyone that it was this piece of golden feather that concealed all traces of life within the stone pillar.

Since the Demon Race lost and the Level 10 Golden Roc did not survive, naturally, it couldn’t come to rescue its offspring.

As time passed, the little Golden Roc, incapable of breaking the stone pillar with its power, met a tragic death inside.

"Liou Youyu, this piece of golden feather is extremely precious, hold onto it well!"

Fan Chen placed the golden feather onto the Flying Fish Ship and busied himself with excitement.

The others were immediately invigorated by this.

Having witnessed the presence of a Level 10 Golden Roc’s feather within the stone pillar, they quickly felt that there must be other treasures waiting to be discovered in the Stone Forest surrounding the Prayer Spirit Forbidden Land.

Days later.

The group methodically searched every stone pillar, each stone, and even the rocks underground around the Forbidden Land with their respective Secret Skills.

Among the countless stone pillars, they additionally found a blood-red beast eye and a gray-brown staff.

The stone pillar containing the blood-colored beast eye did not house any Ancient Demon Clan creatures, while intertwined with the gray-brown staff was one of the nearly extinct Rock Pythons.

As soon as it appeared, the Rock Python transformed into dust and ashes, perishing.

The blood-red beast pupils were found by Dong Tianze, and the gray-brown staff belonged to Hu.

The two pondered for a while, unsure of how to utilize them.

They sought Fan Chen for answers, but he too was unaware.

"We could either show it to the people from the Heaven Treasure Li Family above or head to the Saint Spirit Continent to consult with the higher-order Spirit Beasts," suggested Dong Wenjian.

"Higher-order Spirit Beasts are referred to as Great Demons," Zhou Qingchen corrected.

"Right, we can now refer to them as Great Demons," Dong Wenjian said with a smile.

"Since everyone has returned the Heavenly Eye and isn’t planning on accepting orders from above, and the Alien Tribes and those Ferocious Beasts don’t seem prepared to assault the Universe Heaven or the Xuan You Continent," Pang Jian looked at the people around and presented the proposition he had long considered, "how about we make a trip to the Saint Spirit Continent?"

"The Saint Spirit Continent?" Fan Chen was startled.

"Yes," Pang Jian said seriously, "I’m certain something has happened on the Saint Spirit Continent. As the last territory belonging to the Demon Race in Purgatory World, there must be peculiar phenomena we are unaware of."

"You’ve been wanting to go?" Realization dawned on Hu.

"Without Zhou Qingchen’s incident, I wouldn’t have ended up in the Xuan You Continent, and I should now be in the Saint Spirit Continent," Pang Jian said candidly.

"Since you are the one calling us together, not Zhou Yi or Hong Qiming, I’m willing to accompany you!" Dong Wenjian was the first to express his stance.

Following him, Liou Youyu and Fan Chen also nodded one after another.

As for Zhou Qingchen, Dong Tianze, and Hu, they were all on the same side as Pang Jian, so their stance, expressed or not, didn’t matter much.

Soon thereafter, a small Sword Boat flew from the Xuan You Continent, streaking directly toward the Saint Spirit Continent of the Second Realm.

...

The Fourth Realm, the Extreme North Land.

A mighty man of the Heaven Clan, with eight pairs of pure white wings unfurled, held a thick black iron rod and gazed solemnly into the area shrouded by the Mysterious Fog.

Behind him, several ships were moored.

The Heaven Clan, the Devil Scale Tribe, the Ghost Clan, and even the Cyclops were distinctly present.

"Yu Qing, should we continue to wait?"

A ninth-level Devil Scale Tribe warrior frowned and said, "Our miss has gone deep inside without any word back! Recently, hundreds of Ferocious Beasts and Spirit Beasts have sneaked in quietly. If this continues, the higher-order Ferocious Beasts under our command might attempt to activate their ancient bloodlines!"

The Alien Tribes that had come this time hadn’t gathered any Ferocious Beasts.

They too were fearful, concerned that the beasts, now endowed with Spiritual Wisdom, might be swayed by the Ancient Demon Clan upon hearing that news.

"My younger sister and the Dark Giant Python were among the first to enter. But then the second batch included Miss Dazzling Shadow and others with ninth-level bloodlines," Yu Qing inhaled deeply and said, "I must proceed with caution. If we enter and cannot return successfully, then..."

He turned to look at the warriors from the various tribes, mostly from the Fifth Continent, and continued, "Then it would mean that in the area of Northern Qi enveloped by the Mysterious Fog, there lies a tenth-level Demon God!"

"Demon God?" the Devil Scale Tribe warrior exclaimed.

"Yes, tenth-level Spirit Beasts and Ferocious Beasts are called Demon Gods. Any Demon God is a terrifying entity, which would require several True Gods of the Human Race to suppress and kill. For us, it would take multiple warriors like Li Bai to stand a chance of handling a Demon God."

The Heaven Clan’s Yu Qing first expressed the terror of a Demon God and then decided to venture in all the same.

...

The Second Realm.

Saint Spirit Continent.

A Sword Boat from the Sword Tower, having crossed through clouds as soft as cotton, officially entered the edge of the land.

The nature’s spiritual energy here was filled with an ancient and long-standing aura.

"It’s good that it’s a Sword Boat," said Fan Chen with a relaxed smile, knowledgeable of history, "Other Sect forces traveling near the Saint Spirit Continent by ship might get attacked by Spirit Beasts."

Dong Wenjian gave an awkward smile and said, "That’s why I insisted on taking the Sword Boat!"

In that ancient era, due to the Human Race’s broken promises, the high-order Spirit Beasts of the Saint Spirit Continent harbored hostility towards all the Human Race Sects.

Only the Sword Tower, because the Sword God has insisted on distributing the properly promised lands to the Spirit Beasts, won the favor of the Spirit Beasts.

"Whoosh!"

A White Python suddenly leapt out of the ocean.

With a somber gaze, she looked at the Sword Boat swiftly approaching from the outside and said coldly, "Little ones from the Sword Tower, the Saint Spirit Continent has become too chaotic recently, you’d best keep out."

As she spoke, she transformed into an old woman in a white robe, standing upon a wave.

"Huh!"

"Taiyi Divine Kingdom, Ancient Law Sect, and even the Yuan Qing Divine Nation?"

Distinguishing their origins from specific patterns on the garments of Fan Chen, Dong Wenjian, and Liou Youyu, her face turned cold as she said, "If you seek your own deaths, that is your business!"

With these words, she plunged back into the depths of the sea.

"Cough cough, Pang Jian, do you have any regrets about dragging us along?" Dong Wenjian asked with a forced laugh.

Pang Jian shook his head.
