The Purgatory Calamity -
Chapter 331 - 311 The Frozen Land_1
Chapter 331: Chapter 311 The Frozen Land_1
Amidst the icy world of snow and frost, Pang Jian stealthily communicated with the Bee King.
Outside in the world, various Bee Insects hovering near the Mysterious Fog continued to alert him to the fragmented lands.
He paid special attention to the Absolute Sky Forbidden Land, quietly observing the actions of Qi Qingsong and others, as well as those of Fu Wangchen.
Suddenly!
A huge shell radiating five-colored divine light soared above the fragmented land, cloaked in a faint white mist, and appeared in this realm.
Many from the Alien Tribes, accustomed to living in the sea all year round with fish fins on their back and belly, stood on the five-colored shell with their tridents.
Quickly, they set their sights on the huge Ice Crystal heart, excitedly steering the shell towards it.
"Perfect."
Pang Jian narrowed his eyes, attentively observing the actions of the outsiders.
He wanted to see if the invaders trying to attack the Ice Crystal heart could possibly succeed.
"Whoosh! Whoosh!"
Many members of the Alien Tribes, their bodies radiating icy light, rode Spiritual Birds from different glaciers and snow-capped mountains.
They roared in fury and pounced on the intruders.
Under the dome of the sky, dazzling ice lights shot towards the outsiders, causing them to scream in fear.
Atop the glacier, the huge and precious Ice Crystal heart burst forth with splendid icy radiance.
The entire icy world was transformed as the Extreme Cold Tao Principles shifted.
A glacier hundreds of feet tall erupted from a silvery Ice Lake as if commanded by a deity wielding the power of ice and changed into a rainbow of light, stabbing towards the shell.
"Swoosh!"
Streams of Cold Fog also poured down from the heavens, engulfing the shell that had crossed over through some barrier.
The shell, emitting colorful halos, hurriedly tried to ascend and flee when faced with this situation, but collided with an invisible barrier.
"Bang!"
The hundred-foot glacier arrived with a thunderous crash, slicing the shell in half like a giant ice sword.
The outsiders from the Alien Clan immediately wailed and howled like ghosts, tumbling down one by one from the sky.
The native Alien Tribes took the opportunity to ride the Spiritual Birds and chase them down, swiftly dispatching the intruders.
Then, the glittering natives took the corpses and tossed them towards a peculiar mountain, where the bodies were quickly frozen, instantly becoming a fossil.
Pang Jian watched closely and a chill formed in his heart.
On that mountain of corpses, there were tens of thousands of skeletal remains, and not limited to this batch of the Alien Tribes.
The Ghost Clan, Wood Tribe, Devil Scale Tribe, and many more Alien Tribes that Pang Jian had never heard of, their frozen bones were also buried within these mountains.
Several peaks covered by ice and rocks, from summit to base, were all corpses from the Alien Clan.
Over a million years, who knew how many Alien Tribes had invaded this place, only to be slaughtered in batches and turned into fossils.
Looking into the distance at those ice and rock mountains, Pang Jian also faintly felt a surge of strange, mixed thoughts, accompanied by a faint trace of qi and blood vitality, seemingly flowing towards a certain place.
"At the summit, that huge Ice Crystal heart!"
He abruptly looked towards the location of the Ice Castle, concentrating and using strands of golden Divine Sense, his golden pupils piercing through to observe.
Indeed, the guests from the Outer Realm who had just been killed, their frozen skeletons still contained the vitality of flesh and blood; their remnant souls would not disperse in this world.
Soul and blood, trapped by the ice and rock’s binding frost, turned into a special energy clearly visible through Pang Jian’s golden eyes.
Bit by bit, strand by strand, they traveled along the rocks and ice chunks that sprawled across the land, being transferred to the altar on the highest mountain.
More precisely, they were being offered to that Ice Crystal heart on the altar!
The burial mounds weren’t limited to one peak; those from the Outer Realm who died in this Extreme Cold Fragment Land likely numbered in the tens, if not hundreds of thousands.
Once deceased, once transformed into Ice Rocs, they wouldn’t decay according to the natural order, their souls would not scatter to the world, but would be merged into that gigantic heart.
"This is insidious!"
Pang Jian’s eyes showed astonishment as he continued to watch surreptitiously.
He was surprised to find that among the mountains filled with corpses, there was not a single frozen human body.
This was highly illogical.
The Absolute Sky Forbidden Land wasn’t far from this fragmented place; had the humans who came from the Purgatory never entered here?
Pang Jian was shocked and puzzled.
According to Sword Tower, the Absolute Sky Forbidden Land, shrouded in Mysterious Fog, had existed for more than a day or two.
And wave after wave of trial-goers had entered the Forbidden Land, seeking to unravel its mystery.
Since several fragment lands were close by and so many warriors from the Alien Tribes had been killed and turned into icy corpses here.
It seemed only logical that humans from Purgatory World would be buried in the icy rocky peaks.
"Master, there is a mysterious seal in the sky. We cannot leave, nor can we teleport instantaneously."
The Bee King suddenly whispered softly.
Pang Jian was startled and quickly sensed the connection with the Bee Insects outside, finding the link was still there.
But when he tried to use "Purgatory Gate," just as the Bee King had said, he couldn’t teleport to any of the Bee Insects.
"We can’t be trapped in here, can we?"
Pang Jian’s brow furrowed.
The Bee King reminded again, "Someone is coming."
On high alert, Pang Jian also sensed the presence, quietly retracting the golden light in his eyes, allowing the golden Divine Sense to return to the Sea of Consciousness.
Immediately thereafter, he noticed an Alien Tribes warrior riding a Spiritual Bird approaching, his eyes coldly gleaming with the aura of extreme cold.
Sensing the visitor’s likely ill intent, he immediately summoned the Astonishing Spear, readying himself for a desperate fight.
The explosion of the five-colored shell, the killing of many intruding aliens, and the thousands of bones piled on the mountain peaks suggested the natives were extremely xenophobic and would not be hospitable.
The harsh environment of the icy snow world also significantly enhanced their strength, affording them a distinct advantage here, making it very difficult for anyone entering from the outside to leave alive.
"Had I known this, I would have chosen a different fragment land."
Pang Jian heaved a silent sigh.
"Whoosh!"
The Extreme Cold Alien Power he had gathered within his protective Firm Cover grew denser, making him feel as if he was standing in the midst of Mysterious Fog.
"Sir!"
The newcomer suddenly stopped at a distance.
Perched atop the bird, he looked at Pang Jian in astonishment, his pupils slowly taking on an unusual hue.
Moments later, he cried out in surprise, "You carry a pure Extreme Cold aura on you, or rather..."
"Ah! Do you also worship the Ice Demon?!"
He appeared to find this utterly inconceivable.
It was as if, in thousands of years, he had never encountered another from an Alien Tribe who shared his faith.
"Ice Demon..."
Pang Jian was momentarily stunned.
He soon realized that he was using the Extreme Cold Alien Power from within the Ice Pool to envelop his entire body, adapting to this bitterly cold world.
And the very creation of the Spiritual Sea’s Ice Pool originated from underneath Ice-rock City, where the Fragmented Altar allowed communication with the Ice Demon.
Could it be?
With that thought, Pang Jian nodded affirmatively, saying solemnly, "Correct, I am also a follower of the Ice Demon!"
"Indeed!"
The person’s expression was extremely excited, looking at Pang Jian as if he were a rare treasure.
"We share the same faith yet belong to different tribes, so..."
After hesitating a moment, he clenched his fist and lightly tapped his forehead, as if performing a special ritual, and solemnly said, "You must be a guest of our Ice Tribe. My name is Ice Halberd, and I will take you now to Sacred Mountain to meet our seven great tribal elders!"
The cold aura-emitting bird approached, stopping in front of Pang Jian, as he urged impatiently, "Please come!"
"Guest..."
Pang Jian felt unsure.
Looking at the bird with Cold Attributes and then covertly scrutinizing this self-proclaimed member of the Ice Tribe, he discovered natural ice crystal formations on the person’s skin, with vibrant flesh and blood underneath.
At their chest, where the heart lay, there was the most intense concentration of cold power and vitality, likely the source of this person’s strength.
"Natural Ice Crystals bind to the body, flesh and blood cold to the bone, heart robust."
Pang Jian mused silently, still hesitant, and did not dare to agree immediately.
If he were to accept the invitation and go to Sacred Mountain, where many Ice Tribe powerhouses were gathered, it would mean entering right into their den.
There, one false move could mean utter doom.
And if he refused the invitation...
He wondered if he were to suddenly strike, killing the one named Ice Halberd, would the rest of the Ice Tribe notice?
"Coo, coo!"
Suddenly, several birds appeared on a nearby mountain peak, and more of the Ice Tribe members looked over in astonishment.
"Ice Halberd, why haven’t you killed him?"
"What are you daydreaming about?"
The Ice Tribe warriors urged one another, ready to come over.
"He is our guest! He worships the Ice Demon just as we do!" Ice Halberd shouted to stop them, saying with inexplicable excitement, "The dilemma that has troubled our tribe for millions of years, perhaps through him, we can find an answer!"
"He also worships the Ice Demon?!"
The others were also looking over in shock.
It seemed that Pang Jian truly was the only one from an Alien Tribe that they had ever come across who shared their faith.
"The tribal elders have waited countless years, and finally, an outsider who believes in our God Spirit has arrived!"
"Heaven has opened its eyes!"
"Ice Halberd, escort him to the Holy Land!"
The Ice Tribe warriors mounted on different flying birds took the lead, heading towards what they revered as Sacred Mountain.
Pang Jian no longer hesitated; steeling himself, he landed on the bird’s back and said, "Go ahead, take me to meet your seven great tribal elders."
As the bird gracefully ascended, Pang Jian asked again, "Could you, perhaps, tell me a bit about the world you live in."
"Of course."
Ice Halberd nodded.
Then, en route to Sacred Mountain, he shared some details of their world with Pang Jian.
From his fragmented words, Pang Jian learned that this place was referred to as The Frozen Land by them, where the Ice Tribe had lived for generations, venerating the Ice Demon as their God Spirit.
The Ice Tribe’s seven strongest tribal elders had level six Bloodlines.
Ever since Ice Halberd could remember, The Frozen Land had often been invaded by alien beings from the Outer Realm, and they were accustomed to fighting the invading Alien Tribes.
At the summit of the tallest Sacred Mountain, there lay a Divine Object left by the Ice Demon, which they called the "Heart of Winter."
This Divine Object, not only could it help talented Ice Tribe warriors cleanse their flesh and bones, but it could also heal grievously injured Ice Tribe members swiftly.
"Divine Object, Heart of Winter."
Pang Jian’s eyes flashed with curiosity.
After a moment of thought, he asked again, "Haven’t you seen others like me before? Do you know about the Absolute Sky Forbidden Land nearby?"
"We haven’t seen any, nor have we heard of any Absolute Sky Forbidden Land," Ice Halberd replied frankly.
He scratched his head and thought deeply for a while before saying, "We have never left The Frozen Land. All those people from the Outer Realm that have entered our world claim they come from different worlds."
"Beyond us, there is no such Absolute Sky Forbidden Land you speak of, nor any other worlds. Only the endless, thick fog that surrounds us."

PS: My home has been ravaged by the monsoon season in the south; the water pipes in the basement burst, leaking like a waterfall and flooding everything. It took all morning to drain it all, leaving me exhausted.
