The Purgatory Calamity -
Chapter 311 - 294 Four Fragment Lands_1
Chapter 311: Chapter 294 Four Fragment Lands_1
The Sword Boat soared through the sky.
In Pang Jian’s Sea of Consciousness, strands of brand-new golden Divine Sense emerged one after another from the "Spring Eye."
Six new strands of Divine Sense, added to the original one hundred and forty-four, brought the total number of his Divine Sense to one hundred and fifty.
Previously, due to peering at the days and nights beyond the sky in the copper box, twelve strands of golden Divine Sense had withered, but now they had swelled up again.
Those replenished strands of golden Divine Sense had been restored to their original state by slowly consuming the weak threads of Divine Consciousness left by The Observer in the bodies of the green ants.
As each strand of Divine Sense became plentiful, the Sea of Consciousness occasionally shone brilliantly, and his realm had also reached the late stages of the Hollow Profound Realm.
However, the Sea of Consciousness did not expand again.
"Just short by one strand," he thought.
"Just one more strand of Divine Sense, breaking the threshold of ten to reach a total of one hundred and fifty-one, would allow me to expand the Sea of Consciousness anew."
Pang Jian was not in a hurry.
With a clear direction and goal, knowing that he could enter the Absolute Sky Forbidden Land and encounter more Alien God puppets, he knew that the current total of Divine Sense was not his limit.
"Only that which possesses Divine Consciousness can be called Divine Sense, the rest are merely Spiritual Sense..." he mused, looking forward to his journey to the Absolute Sky Forbidden Land, and hoping to condense even more Divine Sense.
The more golden Divine Sense he had, the stronger the Spiritual Soul he would be able to condense in the future, and the higher the limit of his cultivation potential would be.
At this time.
The Golden Bee Insects he’d released outside continued to expand his horizon, bringing back various scenes and images.
However, even the Golden Bee Insects had a limit to their perception with him.
The furthest Bee Insects began to send back disjointed and somewhat blurred images.
After communicating with the Bee King, he learned that the Bee Insects were flying too far; if they continued to explore the boundaries of the Mysterious Fog, he might lose the connection with them.
Soon thereafter, the Bee King began to call back the Bee Insects that had flown too far.
"With the White Crane present, the Absolute Sky Forbidden Land will soon appear; there’s really no need for the Bee Insects to explore at their limit."
With a thought, he noticed the giant avian creature and saw that Fu Wangchen of the Desolated Terrains was still sitting still.
Elsewhere, on the Landscape Spiritual Boat docked in the Mysterious Fog, only a handful of the Disciples of the Demon Sect retained their self-awareness.
Even the people from Sky Water Swamp had dreary expressions, becoming silent and no longer interacting with one another.
An incident similar to that on the Sword Boat was unfolding on the Landscape Spiritual Boat.
"It’s none of my concern," Pang Jian shook his head indifferently.
Thinking back to the Red Rosy Clouds Boat’s crazy drifting in the Firm Wind, and the actions of Yuan Lengshan and Lan Xi in Bagua City, he harbored no good feelings towards members of the Demon Sect.
"What are you thinking about?"
Qi Qingsong tossed a jug of wine over and laughed, "Hey kid, don’t scare me! You’re everyone’s hope, and when you shake your head like that, we start to think something’s wrong."
"Little junior brother, do you have any girl you fancy?"
Zhuang Yuyan pushed a plate of fruits over with a smile.
The Sword Boat was speeding in the direction guided by Pang Jian, while a few hopeful people on the third-floor balcony were in good spirits, drinking and chatting.
"I don’t eat these," Pang Jian said and didn’t touch the fruits Zhuang Yuyan had brought out; instead, he pulled over a stack of jerky in front of Fang Boxuan.
Chewing the tough jerky, an image of the Dark Alley in Bagua City came to mind, recalling the comical scene where he and Li Yuqing fought over food.
"That powerful genius girl from the Heaven Treasure Li Family seems to have something going on with Pang Jian," Zhou Qingchen said with a chuckle.
"Li Yuqing?"
Zhuang Yuyan clicked her tongue incessantly, her smile fading as she said seriously, "Little junior brother, if it’s her you’re in love with, the pressure must be tremendous, right?"
Pang Jian remained silent.
"The Heaven Treasure Sect maintains good relations with most other sects and powers. That genius girl from the Li Family resonated with the Sky-splitting Sword just by visiting the Sword Tower once!"
"That’s the Sky-splitting Sword we’re talking about!"
"Divine Artifacts have spirits. The Sword Spirit acknowledged her on the spot, and even our Tower Master couldn’t suppress it, only allowing the Sky-splitting Sword to choose its own master."
"She really is incredible. Since obtaining the Sky-splitting Sword, she’s undefeated in numerous inter-sect competitions in the First Realm."
"Everyone agrees that this girl is destined for Divine Enthronement in the future."
"Little junior brother..."
Zhuang Yuyan paused and spoke earnestly, "If you want to be with her, you can’t be too far behind her in strength."
"At the very least, like our Tower Master, you must advance to the peak of the Immortal Realm, becoming the number one person in the Immortal Realm in this era."
"Only then might you have a chance to be her man."
"But that’s just a possibility..."
Zhuang Yuyan shook her head slightly and continued, "In the future, even if you become the master of the Sword Tower, you would only be qualified to pursue her. Ultimately, it all depends on what that girl herself thinks."
"Pang Jian, you can definitely do it! I think that girl likes you!" Zhou Qingchen tore at the meat in his hands and yelled, "During the time in the Prayer Spirit Forbidden Land, her attitude towards you was completely different from her attitude towards others. In my view, she took a liking to you, which is why she treated you differently!"
"Really?" Zhuang Yuyan’s face showed surprise.
"Seems like it..." Fang Boxuan thought carefully and also said, "You’re right, it does seem that way. That girl from the Li Family looked at us as if we were wood or stone. Only when she looked at Pang Jian did she seem to be looking at a person."
"Someone else has taken a fancy to him, or rather... some other god," Zhao Yuanqi interjected.
She spoke with lingering fear, "If the leader of the Alien Gods, Luo Hongyan, is truly the god herself, and not just a possessed puppet, then He’s the one who took a liking to Pang Jian."
Zhao Yuanqi remembered that it was Pang Jian who raised the heads one by one, prompting the terrifying Alien God to change her mind.
Otherwise, that genius girl from the Li Family might have died, and they would have been even less likely to escape.
"Alien God... myself?"
Zhuang Yuyan was terrified and couldn’t believe what she was hearing, "A mortal’s body, how could it be an Alien God?"
"We’re not sure either, but that’s what Li Yuqing said. He soared into the Second Realm, and it’s very likely he’s also in the Absolute Sky Forbidden Land. Now, if we encounter Him in the Forbidden Land, other than praying He still retains His Spiritual Intelligence and bears old affection, I’m afraid we have no other choice."
Zhao Yuanqi was thinking far ahead, already pondering about what would happen after entering the Absolute Sky Forbidden Land.
Qi Qingsong, who hadn’t personally participated, asked, "Is it really that terrifying?"
Then, he saw Fang Boxuan, and Zhou Qingchen, each with a more solemn expression than the next, all silently nodding their heads.
"Blood Moon, Yin Spirit Temple, two Sect Masters from the Soul Wandering Realm, He wiped them out with the wave of a hand," Zhao Yuanqi said, her voice sounding not quite right: "If He’s in the Absolute Sky Forbidden Land, He’ll be the worst nightmare for all creatures that enter."
Qi Qingsong and Zhuang Yuyan looked over and saw the intense fear in her eyes, which suddenly made them lose the desire to talk.
The group silently drank their wine.
A long time passed in this way.
That day, as Pang Jian was practicing cultivation with his head down, his complexion slightly changed.
A golden bee insect following White Crane, finally emerged with White Crane from the endless, vast Mysterious Fog.
The insect and the crane abruptly entered an open space.
In sight were four huge chunks of Fragment Land, floating in the depths of the void, surrounded by Mysterious Fog in all directions.
One piece of Fragment Land was wrapped in blinding lightning, its true scenery obscured.
At a glance, this piece of Fragment Land appeared to be enveloped by a giant Thunder Vortex, amid booming thunder and flashing lightning within.
Another piece of Fragment Land had a multitude of fierce volcanoes spewing flames on its surface, with heavenly flames resembling broad, giant dragons.
The cracked earth had streams of lava flowing in serpentine patterns, burning everywhere.
There was also a piece of Fragment Land covered with snow peaks and glaciers, the entire world as if it were encased in ice.
The only piece that seemed relatively normal, and closest to Pang Jian’s view, had valleys, forests, and swamps, brimming with life.
However, it was on this same piece of Fragment Land where wrecks of warships and boats could be seen everywhere.
There were also thousands of carcasses, including those of the Human Race, Ferocious Beasts, Spirit Beasts, and Alien Tribes, scattered across the gray wasteland.
A dark warship was suspended in midair, with Ghost Clan powerhouses commanding many warriors of the Alien Tribes, still hunting survivors on the Fragment Land below.
The small-headed people of the Ghost Clan on the ship were all dressed in luxurious clothes, holding delicate vessels in their hands.
They looked the same as the Ghost Clan warriors Pang Jian had seen in the Yuan Mang Fragmented Lands and in the Fifth Realm.
But their demeanor was dignified; they must have lived quite comfortably, always holding high positions and being served by others.
"They’re not from the Ghost Clan of the Fifth Realm!"
Pang Jian was secretly astonished.
A sharp crane cry suddenly rang out.
Forgetting itself, White Crane transformed into a streak of lightning that dashed straight toward the Fragment Land of thunder and lightning.
It seemed extremely eager.
On the dark warship, a Ghost Clan warrior smaller than a dwarf, clutching a silver trident, coldly watched the fleeing White Crane.
"A visitor from Purgatory..."
The ghost-like Ghost Clan warrior, gaunt and with fangs at the corners of his mouth, muttered to himself.
Then, he threw his silver trident.
"Sizzle!"
Three dazzling flashes of light burst forth from the silver trident, like three blinding rivers of light.
"Puff! Puff, puff!"
The lightning flashes struck the White Crane, causing its wings to emit sparks and several of its feathers to scatter.
"You little brat, Lord Crane will come and settle the score with you sooner or later!"
The White Crane screeched as it flew away.
The distinguished Ghost Clan warrior snorted, catching the silver trident as it returned from the sky, and turned his head towards where the Mysterious Fog was thickest.
His green glowing eyes fixed on the golden bee insect.
"A bee insect..."
His gaze shone strangely.
Scenes of mountains of bones and the bloody slaughter of creatures were transmitted through his green eyes into the mind of the bee insect.
The golden bee insect buzzed in alarm and immediately retreated back into the Mysterious Fog.
On the other side,
Pang Jian jerked awake, grabbing the wine pot and gulping down a few mouthfuls to steady his heart before asking, "The Absolute Sky Forbidden Land, is it just one Fragment Land or is it composed of four Fragment Lands?"
"Of course it’s just one,"
Zhuang Yuyan was taken aback.
Pang Jian’s complexion changed and he said, "The words of the Alien God known as The Observer must be true. What we’re going to face next isn’t just the people from our Purgatory World, but also otherworldly beings from other worlds."
The dead on that piece of Fragment Land, including Spirit Beasts, Ferocious Beasts, had already reached the thousands.
Those who had entered the Mysterious Fog before them and arrived first seemed to be in a precarious situation.
He hadn’t managed to see more details through the bee insect, nor did he know if the forests, swamps, and valleys in the depths of that Fragment Land were in the same state—
—with the creatures of Purgatory being hunted down by the Ghost Clan’s commands.
After a moment of consideration, he made a new decision.
