The Purgatory Calamity
Chapter 255 - 240

Chapter 255: 240

"The third one!"

"It’s actually a Soul Nourishing Pill again!"

"Truly a display of wealth and power!"

The individual cultivators aboard the Cloud Sail, each with their eyes gleaming, some surreptitiously rubbed their hands together in anticipation.

Ma Feng smirked nefariously, the fervent glow in his pupils becoming hard to conceal.

Wang Ying took a deep breath and forcibly shifted his gaze away from Pang Jian to avoid betraying an unseemly desire as the vessel’s ferryman.

"Interesting."

Pang Jian muttered inwardly.

Now that his attention was freed, he also noticed the strange looks from those around him, his profound eyes casually falling on the group of individual cultivators near the ferryman Wang Ying.

He then closed his eyes again, pretending to see nothing.

An hour later.

With a thud, the Cloud Sail docked at a bare mountain peak.

Wang Ying’s gentle voice followed, "We have arrived at Golden Peak. I will stop here for two hours. Those who want to disembark must do so quickly to free up space. Don’t delay me from making my next deal."

Some people began to disembark.

Others, already waiting there, came to ask Wang Ying about her destination, and upon learning it was the Prayer Spirit Forbidden Land, a few individual cultivators began to pay with Spirit Stones.

Yet many cultivators, upon hearing ’Prayer Spirit Forbidden Land’, shook their heads continuously and left.

Apparently, the Prayer Spirit Forbidden Land was seen as a place of ill omen.

"Gao Song, aren’t you going to have a look around? Golden Peak has a simple market street selling various types of spiritual materials for cultivation. Perhaps they will have what you need."

Ferrywoman Wang Ying offered the tip "kindly."

Pang Jian stood up, looked at her indifferently, and nodded, "That sounds good."

"Since you’ve already paid the Spirit Stones in advance, I will take you to the final destination. Just remember to board again within two hours," said Wang Ying with a forced smile.

The madman Ma and others had secretly promised to share a portion with her if they could strip that bracelet from Pang Jian.

Yet the look Pang Jian gave her caused a chill to rise from the depths of her heart, making her feel that something was off.

"Hmm."

Pang Jian leapt off the Cloud Sail.

With a sweep of his Divine Sense, he noticed several smaller Cloud Sails docked at a long mountain peak.

The marketplace Wang Ying mentioned was even more rudimentary than she described, composed of six or seven small stone huts, each marked with the shop sign in front.

Nearby shorter mountains with spiky peaks and trees weren’t suitable places for docking Cloud Sails.

In the middle of these mountains, there were irregularly shaped caves, seemingly chiseled by individual cultivators at random; most of these caves were uninhabited.

Squinting and sensing the surroundings, Pang Jian realized that the nature’s spiritual energy here was even weaker than Yuanmang’s before its Spirit Vein had been tapped.

The distribution of spiritual energy on the Xuan You Continent wasn’t uniform; likely because the energy was so sparse here, the area wasn’t claimed by clans or sects but instead had become a refuge for some individual cultivators.

"Though the mosquito is small, it still has some flesh."

Pang Jian muttered to himself, watching Ma Feng and his group disembark and follow him with eager smiles.

An hour later.

With his Spiritual Power Strong Shield infused with Cyan Shining Spirit Power, Pang Jian let Ma Feng and the others strike at will. The solid shield absorbed all the blows without showing a single crack.

Looking at the five cold corpses, Pang Jian pulled off their storage bags for a glance and shook his head in disappointment.

The personal belongings of five individual cultivators in the later stages of the Hollow Profound Realm held nothing of interest to him. He randomly picked a shop and could exchange them for barely over three hundred Spirit Jade.

"The amount of Spirit Jade required for Panshi Fragment Land is immense; this is merely a drop in the bucket," he sighed with disappointment as he returned to Wang Ying’s Cloud Sail, took his place on the deck, and resumed his meditation with half-closed eyes.

For him, killing for treasure was just a side note, never occupying his mind.

Ferrywoman Wang Ying and a few cultivators who also had harbored malicious intentions, not daring to act due to insufficient strength, all watched him in silence.

They witnessed how merely moments ago at the peak’s edge, a Cyan Shining Spirit Sword flitted through the air, cutting down Ma Feng and the others.

After the killings, Pang Jian appeared preoccupied with heavy thoughts and visited the nearest shop for a moment before disembarking and reboarding the vessel.

It seemed as if slaying Ma Feng and his group had left him feeling unsatisfied and displeased.

"Gao Song..."

Guilty Wang Ying bitterly chewed over this name and suppressed all her evil desires and greed. From then on, throughout the journey, she dared not harbor any ill intentions.

Seven days later.

"We’ve arrived."

Wang Ying, adhering strictly to protocol, docked the Cloud Sail in front of a Stone Forest, and pointed it out to Pang Jian, "Through this Stone Forest lies the Prayer Spirit Forbidden Land. I’m sorry, but I dare not pass through the forest; I can only take you this far."

Pang Jian nodded, then disembarked from the Cloud Sail.

Immediately, he summoned the Spirit Sword gifted by Lei Kun and, under Wang Ying’s puzzled gaze, slashed it towards the Cloud Sail behind him.

A bedazzling flash of lightning, wrapped in an extreme chill, cleaved the vessel, over a dozen Zhang in length, into two.

Wang Ying, who screamed loudly and desperately tried to block the attack, had a deep gash torn across her chest down to the bone.

"As the owner of the Cloud Sail, you’ve harbored malicious intentions and plotted to rob your passengers of their property; it was you who broke the rules first."

Pang Jian looked at her coldly.

Wang Ying, bleeding profusely from her chest, wept bitterly, realizing that her clandestine schemes had long been seen through by Pang Jian as she watched her dearly purchased Cloud Sail bisected by his single strike.

Pang Jian sat on the Cloud Sail motionless, not hurrying to act against her, merely because he hadn’t yet reached his destination.

"I..."

Wang Ying cried, wanting to argue.

Pang Jian, venting his anger with a sword, had already turned and entered the Stone Forest.

The moment he stepped into the Stone Forest, when the individual cultivators behind him couldn’t see him, he took out the Sword Command from his wristlet and transmitted a message to Li Yuqing, "I have reached the Prayer Spirit Forbidden Land."

He walked and waited for a response from the Sword Command.

A quarter of an hour passed, then half an hour passed; Li Yuqing hadn’t responded as agreed.

Pang Jian suddenly stopped, frowning. He placed the Sword Command into a pocket inside his clothes.

That way, if the Sword Command showed any unusual activity, he would be able to feel it immediately.

"Could something have happened in the Prayer Spirit Forbidden Land? With her power to obliterate Fragment Land with a single sword, the leaders of the Blood Moon, Star River Alliance, and Yin Spirit Temple shouldn’t be her match..."

Pang Jian’s thoughts churned.

Ever since he left Camel Ridge Mountain, he had been worried about how to explain the existence of the Corrosion Boundary Vine when he finally met her.

However, seeing that Li Yuqing hadn’t responded as agreed, he not only didn’t feel relieved but started to worry about her instead.

He himself didn’t understand why his mindset had undergone such a significant change.

"It must be because the Prayer Spirit Forbidden Land is too peculiar."

A moment later, he speculated that there must be some type of shielding barrier in the Forbidden Land ahead that was preventing communication between him and Li Yuqing via the Sword Command.

So he continued deeper.

Along the way, he established a connection with the Cloud Marsh Sapling and saw that both Sky Fortune Fragment Land and Sky Rampart Fragment Land, under the Sapling’s miraculous power, had merged into an even larger Fragment Land.

The Sky Rampart Fragment Land, also tainted by the Filth Alien Power, was bustling with members of the Wood Tribe holding various types of trees and flowers; they were busy trying to spread the power of the Cloud Marsh Sapling throughout Sky Rampart Fragment Land.

"It’s on the right track."

Pang Jian grew hopeful.

He knew that after merging with Sky Rampart Fragment Land, the Sapling’s growth rate would surely increase even faster.

Before long, Sky Rampart Fragment Land would, like Sky Fortune Fragment Land, also be covered with trees and flowers that nourished the Sapling.

In this way, the Sapling’s path of merging could continue.

"It doesn’t have to worry anymore. I wonder how the Mysterious Turtle is doing..."

With a thought, Pang Jian then looked at Panshi Fragment Land, which was hovering in the depths of the Cloud Sea of the Third Realm and heading towards the edge of this realm.

As soon as his sense connected, he noticed that Panshi Fragment Land was now beneath a Meteorite Sea.

Huge chunks of rock floated like a stone sea above the dense lead clouds, with some of the largest rocks having many straight, sword-like bones stuck in them!

After a careful observation, Pang Jian was tremendously shocked.

"This must be where the Heavenly Phoenix’s bones first shattered!"

He couldn’t help exclaiming in the Stone Forest.

The Heavenly Phoenix bones had suddenly exploded in a Forbidden Land close to the ’Mysterious Fog’ of the Third Realm, scattering its bones in all directions, with some falling into the Fourth Realm; the news was no longer a secret.

That shattered Forbidden Land had become a Meteorite Sea, a piece of news that Pang Jian had long known about.

Seeing the familiar bones on those rocks, he almost immediately confirmed that above the Cloud Sea where Panshi Fragment Land currently was, lay that shattered Meteorite Sea!

Suddenly.

"Swish!"

A Black Iron Mountain flew past the Meteorite Sea above the Cloud Sea.

Pang Jian was taken aback once more.

The fleeting figure atop the Black Iron Mountain, exuding a fierce aura, who could it be but Dong Tianze?

Dong Tianze, one of the Heavenly Phoenix Guards, had found the original site of the Heavenly Phoenix bones’ shattering. In the Meteorite Sea that contained numerous bones, he was searching for his fellow Divine Guards to hunt down.

"Swoosh!"

Another figure, standing on an ancient zither, flew towards the direction of the Black Iron Mountain, revealing a man with a face full of scars.

"Useless trash, to think that even with the Black Iron Mountain in your possession, you’re still getting hunted down."

Pang Jian muttered to himself.

Having integrated with the Panshi Fragment Land, the entire Fragment Land was like his massive eye, allowing him to see the surrounding scenes through the Fragment Land.

As the two figures flashed by, one after the other, Dong Tianze was obviously the one fleeing, while the scar-faced man standing on the zither was the hunter.

"Wake up."

Pang Jian transmitted his thoughts.

"That Black Iron Mountain, which you held onto before, has drifted to the Meteorite Sea above you, and that guy who is being hunted down—I want him to win this battle."

"Think of something."

He conveyed his intention to the Mysterious Turtle.

Panshi Fragment Land shook quietly, and the long-still land started to slowly rise, focusing on the two men, one chasing and one fleeing.

The Black Iron Mountain, maneuvered by Dong Tianze, was suddenly pulled down by a strong gravitational force above the Cloud Sea, plummeting down.

The Black Iron Mountain crashed into the thick Cloud Sea with a "thunderous" sound.

"How could a Fragment Land suddenly appear below the Meteorite Sea?"

Dong Tianze, dizzy from the fall, looked down at the Cloud Wilderness beneath the clouds, his face showing an expression as if he had just seen something utterly unbelievable.
