The Purgatory Calamity
Chapter 241 - 226 Electric Chaser_1

Chapter 241: Chapter 226 Electric Chaser_1

A gathering of individual cultivators.

"Boom! Crackling!"

As they were bombarded by Thunderous Lightning, Pang Jian, who arrived a step too late, charged in again with only a thin Qingying Gang Shield.

On the first day, the individual cultivator who had reminded Pang Jian to maintain the release of his Firm Cover looked at him with a panic-stricken expression.

He had never expected that while they were being attacked by a White Crane for no apparent reason, someone as freakish as Pang Jian would barge in on his own.

"Zap!"

He clearly saw Thunder and Lightning penetrate Pang Jian’s Qingying Gang Shield and strike his body.

At first it was one or two bolts, then two or three, and then... Pang Jian’s Spiritual Power Strong Shield suddenly collapsed.

His skin emitted a faint silvery glow, his body surrounded by numerous bolts of lightning, he grimaced in pain as he endured the lightning’s assault.

"This guy..."

Qin Le, another individual cultivator, looked at Pang Jian as if to say that he might have a screw loose.

A moment later.

The White Crane that had just exhausted its energy by bringing together the free-floating Thunderous Lightning gave Pang Jian a deeply malicious look.

Then, it gracefully flew away.

"Hiss! Hiss!"

Pang Jian, still moving with fine electric arcs over his silver-like skin, suddenly had a gleam in his eye.

It was as if lightning had flashed suddenly in the depths of his pupils.

"Got it!"

In the depths of his Spiritual Sea, strands of delicate Lightning Power were converging on one spot.

The Lightning Power gathered and gathered, gradually forming the rudimentary shape of a Thunder Vortex.

The small Thunder Vortex, not yet robust or turbulent with insufficient lightning, hadn’t fully materialized.

Yet Pang Jian suddenly felt that once this Vortex was successfully formed, his stagnant realm would naturally achieve a breakthrough.

"Brother..."

Just as Qin Le started to speak, he violently noticed a sword-shaped token hanging at the waist of the seemingly disheveled Pang Jian.

"Sword Tower!"

Qin Le’s expression suddenly changed.

He then realized that Pang Jian, who had traveled with him on the Cloud Sail from an unknown Fragment Land, was actually a disciple of the Sword Tower.

"Sword Tower!"

The other individual cultivators who had partnered with him also looked shocked upon noticing the token.

At the same time, there was a hint of concealment in their eyes, mixed with annoyance and disgust.

Recently, they had several encounters with people from the Demon Sect and Black Valley in the basin, and they still vividly remembered the disdainful attitudes with which those disciples from the Second Realm had treated them.

"Let’s go."

One of them signaled Qin Le with his eyes, thinking it was best to avoid trouble and to keep clear of those coming from the Second Realm.

Qin Le nodded in understanding, said nothing more, and immediately left with the others.

He didn’t even mention that he had arrived on Wang Ying’s Cloud Sail along with Pang Jian.

After a short while.

Pang Jian, having regrouped, glanced in the direction where the White Crane disappeared, his expression one of excited anticipation as he prepared to continue the chase.

Suddenly, he felt the pendant shaped like a bronze door underneath his chest clothing grow slightly hotter.

This most mysterious copper plaque had not shown any abnormalities in a very long time.

Pang Jian was shocked, wondering if the final beehive nurtured by the copper plaque was about to reveal something marvelous.

He took out the copper plaque and squinted at it closely.

There was no crack on the bronze door’s front, and he couldn’t see the "Mysterious Fog" within, nor the beehive hanging in the depths of the thick fog.

"Strange..."

He muttered to himself and casually flipped it over.

On the copper plaque’s immaculate back, a clear scratch had suddenly appeared!

The scratch was on the very top of the back of the bronze door, and it had appeared at some unknown time, bewildering Pang Jian.

"Could it be that among the Thunder and Lightning that struck me earlier, one struck the top of the copper plaque, thus creating this mark?"

After careful consideration, Pang Jian felt that the intensity of the lightning was seemingly not enough to add a scratch to this miraculous copper plaque.

"Something’s not quite right, I’ll need to be a bit more cautious going forward."

With this thought in mind, he chased in the direction of the White Crane, continuing his pursuit of the breakthrough opportunity that was his to seize.

Several hours later.

A group of Black Valley disciples gathered at a swamp also noticed the appearance of the White Crane.

"The White Crane Lu Xiangyi mentioned! There it is!"

"Everybody be careful, this White Crane attacks everyone; it can draw down Thunderous Lightning!"

"Damn it, it really came!"

The Black Valley disciples shouted, conjuring up their Spiritual Power Strong Shields, preparing to fend off the attack of the White Crane.

The same situation played out once more.

As the White Crane soared high above the disciples’ heads, it stirred the Thunderous Lightning lingering nearby, gathering it on the spot where the Black Valley disciples stood.

Then...

A slim figure in black clothes, as if racing against time, stormed in from afar, fearlessly plunging into the catastrophic thunder zone it had just created.

Under the barrage of thunder from all around, that most despised figure in black grimaced as he endured.

In his eyes, however, there was an unmistakable glint of excitement that deeply annoyed the White Crane.

For some reason, White Crane felt that the black-clothed boy below with the foolish mind, has been using it all along, always chasing after it and seemingly harboring malicious intent as if begging for abuse.

"Tss! Crackle! Boom!"

Thunder roared, and lightning splashed everywhere.

Pang Jian, who had summoned the Qingying Strong Shield, deliberately allowed some bolts of lightning that he could withstand to penetrate it, and as his body of the "Phantom Bone Realm" silently received them, he also paid attention to the abnormality of the copper token at his chest.

The explosive lightning continued until the midpoint.

"Crackle!"

One of the bolts, which appeared no different from the others, alerted the ever-vigilant Pang Jian to an anomaly.

That dazzling bolt, apart from containing the violent Thunderbolt Alien Power, seemed to rip through the void.

Within the depths of the lightning, a very fine crack emerged, revealing a "Mysterious Fog" within.

"It’s not lightning, there’s an abnormal spatial fluctuation!"

Just as Pang Jian paled in shock, the peculiar lightning he had noticed instantly penetrated through his summoned Qingying Strong Shield.

This became the only bolt of lightning that wasn’t deliberately allowed in by him, but truly and easily shattered his shield!

The lightning reached his chest, striking the copper token beneath his clothes, and then it vanished from sight,

It seemed just like the many other bolts that had struck his body.

But Pang Jian knew it was different.

The sky full of thunder and lightning finally vanished.

In the barrage of lightning, two weaker disciples from Black Valley lay stiffly on the ground.

Small sparks of lightning could still be seen dancing at the corners of their eyes, seemingly doomed not to survive.

Pang Jian, long accustomed to this, silently chased after White Crane as soon as he saw it drifting away.

The surviving Black Valley disciples, far from showing even a hint of sadness at the death of their companions, coldly swallowed a pill first, then watched the place where Pang Jian had disappeared.

"He is the Sword Tower’s outer disciple Lu Xiangyi mentioned."

"Mhm, his name is Luo Yuan, and he has been chasing White Crane lately."

"Or rather, he is chasing Thunder and Lightning."

The disciples of Black Valley, through communication via jade tokens, were already aware of a Sword Tower’s outer disciple named Luo Yuan who was constantly fixated on White Crane.

This person also often finds himself engulfed by the explosive lightning caused by the malicious White Crane.

"What a peculiar fellow."

After a brief exchange, they tore off the storage bags from their dead companions and divided their collections right there on the spot.

Ten miles away.

Pang Jian, reassured by the absence of people around, took out the copper gate pendant from beneath his clothing.

Turning it over, he indeed saw a second mark!

"A peculiar bolt of lightning, hiding a slender crack, pointing towards the dense Mysterious Fog..."

Pang Jian pondered thoughtfully.

He continued to lurk in the Cloud Thunder Forbidden Zone on his own, always pursuing the White Crane that was full of malice towards everyone.

Sometimes, he bore the wrath of the thunderbolts alongside Individual Cultivators.

Other times, he was overwhelmed by the thunderbolts pulled by White Crane along with the disciples of Demon Sect, Black Valley, and Sky Water Swamp.

He soon discovered that within the basin, the Thunderous Lightning was not more concentrated towards the center.

Some peripheral areas, the lightning manipulated by the evil White Crane, could also be terrifyingly powerful enough to help White Crane kill Cultivators.

As Pang Jian endured the violent assault of the thunderbolts, he occasionally saw a special bolt of lightning that contained a strange crack within it.

Such lightning would break the Spiritual Power Strong Shield he had summoned, seeping into the copper token he wore and injecting a beam of light containing spatial power into it.

Immediately after, a new mark would appear on the back of the token.

That day.

Standing amongst the charred bones of three Innate Realm Individual Cultivators, Pang Jian looked at the two characters formed by the marks on the back of the copper token, his mind completely shocked.

The special lightning he had absorbed recently had traced two clear characters on the back of the token.

—Purgatory!

The world he inhabited was known as Purgatory, further divided into five layers.

The two characters for "Purgatory" on the back of the token occupied only half of the area, suggesting that two more characters were yet to be revealed.

Pang Jian’s immense curiosity piqued by the words "Purgatory," he continued to move about within the Cloud Thunder Forbidden Zone, tirelessly chasing the sinister White Crane.

Two days later.

Behind the two characters for "Purgatory" on the token, an additional character "of" appeared, which thrilled Pang Jian even more.

"It’s close now, only one character remains hidden, this must be the true name of the token!"

Four days later.

Standing among another group of Individual Cultivator skeletons, Pang Jian lifted his garment and took out the token to flip it over.

Finally, the character "Gate" was revealed.

—Gate of Purgatory!

The true name of the token was thus revealed to the world!

Pang Jian finally knew that this copper token, which had the shape of a gate and could transport him to the locations of the Mysterious Turtle, Corrosion Boundary Vine, and Dark Giant Python, and let him disregard the layers of the Purgatory worlds, was truly named.

The Gate of Purgatory, indeed fitting perfectly with its shape and function!

"So, this is your real name; you are actually called the Gate of Purgatory."

An excited Pang Jian clutched the token tightly, inspecting it over and over again, feeling increasingly that the token named "Gate of Purgatory" held endless mysteries.

The word "Gate" revealed the profoundness of the token, granting Pang Jian the power to communicate between realms.

The words "Gate of Purgatory" made Pang Jian believe that the token could allow him to traverse through this world.
