The Purgatory Calamity

Chapter 197: Chapter 182: The Storm Begins!_1

First Peak.

The gathered Elders and prodigious members had just stepped out of the trading venue, just stood atop the mountain peak.

"Whoosh!"

A tall alien man with six pairs of immaculate white wings, suddenly shot up from the surface of Jade Lake into midair, and majestically hovered between the Sixth and Seventh Peaks.

His fair face, as smooth as jade, was alight with excitement and agitation as he looked around.

"Heaven Clan!"

"The Heaven Clan from the Fifth Realm!"

"My heavens!"

All the Cultivators who saw this alien man, regardless of their current location, exclaimed in shock and horror.

"Swish! Swish, swish!"

The man with six pairs of wings gently flapped his immaculate white wings, and suddenly sharp blades of light flew out, overwhelming and slaughtering the weaker disciples of the Star River Alliance and the Yin Spirit Temple on the summits of the Sixth and Seventh Peaks.

"I am Yu Gu of the Heaven Clan from the Fifth Realm, here at the invitation of the local host, Cao Mang!"

Yu Gu gracefully descended toward the Sixth Peak.

Standing at the summit, he gazed toward the First Peak of Yuanmang and said in a clear and sonorous Human Race language, "Cao Mang has engaged in private trade with our clan for many years, and he has also extended an invitation to us for this trading convention."

"With our participation, this trading assembly taking place in the Third Realm will surely be the center of attention!"

Yu Gu bowed slightly in the direction of the First Peak, seemingly expressing his thanks to Cao Mang.

"Cao Mang!"

"Cao the freak!"

"Have you lost your mind?"

The various Elders at the summit of the First Peak, like Yang Rui and Fang Boxuan, seemed ready to spit fire from their eyes.

"I..."

The dwarf-like Cao Mang, in the face of everyone’s unanimous accusation, panicked and didn’t know how to explain himself.

Indeed, he had engaged in private trade with an Alien Tribe from the Fifth Realm, but they were not from the Heaven Clan, and he hadn’t invited any aliens to this grand event.

Moreover, he lacked the ability to construct a perfect Mirror Tunnel that would connect Yuanmang with the Fifth Realm.

Yet the Heaven Clan member claiming to be Yu Gu adamantly insisted he had been invited by Cao Mang, and indeed a Mirror Tunnel had appeared out of thin air above the Jade Lake of Yuanmang.

He was the de facto controller of Yuanmang, and Sects like Yin Spirit Temple and Raging Sun Sect had heard some rumors about his covert dealings with the Fifth Realm.

Under the circumstances where Yu Gu insisted it was he who had issued the invitations, Cao Mang found himself completely without-stand defense.

"It wasn’t us, it truly has nothing to do with us, don’t listen to their nonsense!"

Madam Hua screamed in fear.

She knew well what would befall her and Cao Mang should these allegations be proven true—she was not ready to die.

While everyone atop the mountain was berating Cao Mang.

Troves of savage Ferocious Beasts and numerous Alien Tribe warriors riding atop them emerged one after another from the surface of Jade Lake, landing on its banks.

"Third Realm!"

"Yuan Mang Fragmented Lands!"

"Human Race!"

The Ghost Clan, Wood Tribe, Devil Scale Tribe, and Cyclops landed and began pounding their chests and roaring in outrage, venting the frustration and defiance of being imprisoned for tens of thousands of years at this moment.

"Kill!"

The Alien Tribe warriors, controlling vicious beasts, surged forward from Jade Lake towards all directions.

"Whoosh! Whoosh, whoosh!"

Several warriors from the Heaven Clan, also possessing six pairs of wings like Yu Gu, took advantage of their ability to soar through the void and began seizing the summit of each great mountain.

On those mountain peaks, Flying Spirit Artifacts such as the Red Rosy Clouds Boat, Unstable Ferry, Heavenly Spirit Tower, Fire Cloud Ship, and Golden Coach were docked.

"They’re seizing our Flying Spirit Artifacts!"

Liang Ying from the Star River Alliance stamped her foot furiously, giving Cao Mang a severe glare, and said, "Cao the freak, you dare to collude with alien tribes; there will no longer be a place for you in the Human lands!"

"Madam Hua, those above will never let you off!" barked Lou Yunming sharp and harsh.

These people could no longer concern themselves with any trading convention; they quickly led their groups away from Yuanmang’s First Peak towards the mountains where the Flying Spirit Artifacts were docked.

They knew all too well that if the Flying Spirit Artifacts were destroyed, they’d be trapped in Yuan Mang Fragmented Lands.

They had no idea how long the Mirror Tunnel would last or how many from the Fifth Realm’s Alien Tribes had come; all they knew was that if they wanted to preserve their lives, they needed to rely on a Flying Spirit Artifact!

Only aboard a Flying Spirit Artifact could they escape Yuan Mang Fragmented Lands and evade this catastrophe.

"Red Rosy Clouds Boat!"

Zhao Yuanqi sat down in place, using her Divine Sense to summon the boat that belonged to her.

The Red Rosy Clouds Boat, which had been stationary on the Fifth Peak, suddenly flew off.

"All disciples, enter the Red Rosy Clouds Boat!"

The voice of Zhao Yuanqi abruptly rang out from within the Red Rosy Clouds Boat; disciples from Red Mountain, uncertain of what had transpired, aimlessly made their way toward the boat.

"Whoosh!"

The Red Rosy Clouds Boat was the first to rise into the sky, heading straight for Zhao Yuanqi.

"Heavenly Spirit Tower..."

Lou Yunming of Yin Spirit Temple was also trying to communicate with the white tower using his Divine Sense, but all of a sudden, he let out a muffled groan, blood trickling from the corner of his eye.

His expression was terrifying as he shouted, "A Heaven Clan warrior has seized control of our Heavenly Spirit Tower!"

The Heavenly Spirit Tower was situated on the Seventh Peak, extremely close to Jade Lake; the Heaven Clan warriors took to the skies first, quickly overtaking the Sixth and Seventh Peaks, leading to the swift occupation of the Yin Spirit Temple’s Heavenly Spirit Tower and Star River Alliance’s Golden Coach.

"This is bad..."

Qi Qingsong’s face darkened dramatically as he watched Cloud Sails docked among the mountain peaks ascend amid the screams and cries of Individual Cultivators.

"Boom! Boom, boom!"

Then they exploded with a thunderous blast as they were struck by Alien Tribe riders on flying beasts.

One after another, the cloud sails that lifted off from the Yuan Mang Fragmented Lands were only a dozen yards out before being targeted and obliterated by the alien tribe warriors.

One by one, Cyclopes standing dozens of yards tall simply waved their wall-like massive arms causing the cloud sails to disintegrate abruptly.

The vast Yuan Mang, with its nine towering peaks and deep lakes in the forests, all echoed with the cries and howls of ghosts and wolves.

All cultivators who entered Yuan Mang were now furiously cursing one person—Cao Mang!

"We, we..."

Gao Yuan’s voice was trembling.

He, along with Han Ting, steered his cloud sail, flying up from the Yuan Mang Fragmented Lands with trepidation and fear.

He saw with his own eyes how the cloud sails that took off were either smashed by Cyclopes or blown apart by Devil Scale Tribe warriors riding black winged dragons.

He always felt... that the next moment it would be his cloud sail, feeling that he and Han Ting would also meet their demise.

"Phew!"

Just as a towering Cyclops was about to strike their cloud sail with its iron-fortress-like arm, an odd expression flashed across the Cyclops’s face.

Instantly, the snake-like arm capable of cracking small mountains swept past the cloud sail Gao Yuan was on.

It was as if the Cyclops had grown weary and careless, leading to a rare oversight.

With a heart full of gratitude to the heavens, Gao Yuan shakily controlled the cloud sail, hastily distancing himself from the Cyclops, and then saw another Devil Scale Tribe warrior riding a black winged dragon coming towards them.

Covered in pitch-black scale armor, the tall Devil Scale Tribe warrior had natural ridges and spikes on his knees and elbows, and he glanced at Gao Yuan and Han Ting with his cold, icy eyes.

He suddenly took a sharp breath, flared his nostrils, and then rode his black winged dragon away.

"Han Ting, is his... his eyesight not very good?"

Gao Yuan’s trembling voice lingered as he dumbly watched the terrifying Devil Scale Tribe warrior leave.

He rubbed his eyes and took a closer look, noticing the Devil Scale Tribe member was getting further away from them.

"Are we just extremely lucky?"

Gao Yuan sensed something odd.

Those who had risen with him on the cloud sail had yet to escape unscathed; all were destroyed in transit and pursued by the alien tribe warriors as they plunged through the void.

Many individual cultivators were breathless before they even touched the ground.

"I don’t know."

Han Ting was also clearly baffled.

Standing on the cloud sail, she looked towards Jade Lake and clenched her teeth, saying, "Gao Yuan, Pang Jian... is over there by Jade Lake!"

Gao Yuan shuddered and said with a breaking heart, "It’s not that I don’t want to go over there, but the alien tribes that suddenly appeared are coming from Jade Lake, Han Ting! Let’s fly higher and check the situation from above!"

With that, the cloud sail under his control flew higher and higher, becoming the first to completely break away from the Yuan Mang Fragmented Lands as a flying spirit artifact.

In the trading area of the First Peak.

Luo Hongyan, who had resigned herself to her fate and closed her eyes, opened her eyes within the prism-shaped crystal and found that only some ladies in white remained, while all the elders and geniuses from various sects had disappeared without a trace.

"A mirror tunnel has suddenly appeared out of nowhere in the Jade Lake of Yuan Mang?"

Luo Hongyan contemplated with confusion.

She only heard Madam Hua and the elders mentioning the mirror tunnel through the jade talisman, and being sealed inside the crystal, she was unaware of the situation outside.

"Boom!"

A wooden door was shattered to pieces by Jiuyuan.

The Blood Moon’s Jiuyuan, garbed in a red robe, glared at her fiercely upon entering and said, "Damn, you’re a living being, I can’t put you in a storage ring!"

"You’re someone I traded for with one million spirit stones from that traitor Cao, I can’t just abandon you for nothing!"

"No choice, I’ll have to carry you out."

Jiuyuan bit the bullet and hoisted the massive prism-shaped crystal onto his back, intending to find a cloud sail to escape the Yuan Mang Fragmented Lands.

The Unstable Ferry of Blood Moon, being quite lavish and large in size, could not be summoned like the Red Rosy Clouds Boat or Heavenly Spirit Tower with Divine Sense.

He knew that both Unstable Ferries docked at the Fourth Peak, belonging to him and Fang Boxuan, would be overwhelmed.

Now, all he desired was to acquire a cloud sail.

Suddenly, the Blood Talisman in his hand, which had been inert for too long, emitted a streak of blood-light.

"Jiuyuan, I’ve already killed your man."

"You can’t escape either."

The voice of Pang Jian came from the Blood Talisman.

"Pang Jian!"

Jiuyuan’s face darkened.

Within the prism-shaped crystal, Luo Hongyan, too, heard that voice, and her eyes quietly shimmered with light.

When Jiuyuan drew that fateful lot from Madam Hua, she had sensed that her end was near and hadn’t anticipated any future for herself.

She heard clearly the words Qi Qingsong whispered to Pang Jian when he left the trading area.

She felt relieved.

Relieved that under her careful guidance, Pang Jian had finally learned to be calm and restrained, and when he knew things weren’t possible, he decisively left.

She believed that as long as Pang Jian managed to escape the Yuan Mang Fragmented Lands unscathed, whether it would be in a few years, a decade, or several decades,

Pang Jian would eventually find Cao Mang, Madam Hua, Jiuyuan, Lou Yunming, and Yang Rui!

She knew that Pang Jian would seek vengeance for her, knowing that as long as he survived, her grudges would be avenged!

But she didn’t expect that Pang Jian would not yet have left the Yuan Mang Fragmented Lands and, after killing the man sent by Jiuyuan, dared to provoke him through a Blood Talisman from the other side.

What earth-shattering changes had taken place outside?

As the noise from the outside world reached her, combined with the strangeness exuding from Jiuyuan, she couldn’t help but wonder.
